I Got A Check And I Don

Can the bank cash a check of $15,000?

I got a check of $15,000 from my grandma’s estate and want to cash it. I have a checking account with Chase. Would they be able to cash it or cash some of it then put the rest in my account? Will it look suspicious to the IRS?

Need to cash a check but don't have ID?

Take your SS and Birth Certificate along with your student ID and perhaps a credit card with your name on it. When you get to the bank, just tell them that you need to cash your check. When they ask for photo ID, tell them that you do not have a driver license right now, but you have the things I mentioned above and ask if any of those will work as identification.

If the check is from a certain bank (for example, the person who wrote you the check banks at Fifth Third), then go to that bank in order to cash the check.

Can I get cash for a check at any bank?

Yes and No.Let us pretend that you are issued a check that was created by a certain bank then you would be able to go to that bank that issued the check and cash the check even if you do not have a bank account open with that bank. Also, your bank is expected to accept a check that was issued to you by any bank as long as the check was issued to your name and it is not a fraudulent check. You should also be able to cash a check from any bank at those places that convert checks into cash for a fee as long as the check was issued to your name and it is a printed check; you might have an issue with checks that are hand written and many places will not accept them. What you cannot do is to go to a bank where you do not have a bank account open and ask that a check issued by another bank is cashed because the bank will refuse to do it.

Where can I cash a check I got in the mail?

You can also use a check cashing service, something similar toYes, they look a bit sketchy, but if you don't have a bank account and have a check to cash, then these are your best bets. You might end up losing some money as service fee, but it might be worth paying for it.

Where can I cash a check without an ID?

No one will cash the check for you if you present the check yourself.  If you endorse or sign the check over to anyone, you may risk the chance that the bank cashing the check may require ID (or a copy of the ID from the person not present) from both parties, i.e you and the person you signed it over to, negotiating the check.  There are a couple of ways around not having to present and ID:1. If you are a minor, your parents or guardians can negotiate the check for you. All they would have to say is that you are a minor and you are their child.2. The maker (the person signing the front of the check or the owner of the account the check is drawn from) can negotiate the check. 3. If an employee can positively identify you at the financial institution that you are cashing the check it may be possible. However, you either must have an account there or the check you are trying to negotiate must be drawn from an account there. Hope this helps, Miguel

I got a 3,000 dollar check in the mail!!????Cash it?

Read all the fine print. My daughter got a check for 18,000.00 it said she was selected through some lottery. All she needed to do was to deposit the check then send a personal check in the amount of $2200.00 to cover taxes to the address provided.

When I searched and searched on the computer for this so called company, I could find nothing, when I called the phone number provided it asked for her ssn#.

I figured if she deposited it, sent her check they would then stop payment on the check they sent her and they would have her banking info.

We turned it over to the local District Attorney's office.

If yours is legit - congratulations!

Where can I cash my Social Security check if I don't have a bank account?

My bank account has been seized by a creditor. I know they can't do that but they did and now I can't cash my check. I stopped automatic deposit because again, My acoount has been seized.

If you received a check from Donald Knuth, what did you do and why did you get it?

I got my cheque in 2007, for submitting 4 different corrections to some of public fascicles of TAOCP. Honestly, the suggestions were quite minor (some rewording, clarification, etc) and I was not  expecting any reward for those.I was pleasantly surprised when the cheque landed a few months later. It was a cheque for 4 hexadecimal dollars (US$ 10.24). The envelope also contained a print-out of my original email and Don's response scribbled on it in pencil; to me that's more valuable than the cheque itself.I still have it with me, tucked inside one of my archival files, but I don't think too much about it.In my humble opinion I don't think this has much bearing as an indicator of expertise in Computer Science (not beyond being interested in reading complex theoretical books). Here's a picture of the cheque, FWIW:

Where can I go to cash a personal check I got for Christmas?

It would be a good idea to open a checking account so that you don't have this problem in the future. Many banks offer "totally free checking accounts" that carry no fees and require no minimum balance. When you have an account like this, the bank will cash your check without additional fees for cashing it, like other merchants will.

If it's a personal check from your grandpa, I know of few places that will cash a personal check for you. Even if you find one that will, they'll likely charge you an outrageous fee for doing so.

If all-else fails, you can generally take the check to the bank on which it was issued and cash it there, but even then, some banks charge a $5 fee if you're not an account holder.

I received a check via FedEx and I don't know why I received it? Is this a scam?

I received a check this morning through FedEx for almost $5,000 from Curtis-Toledo, Inc, but I am unaware why I am getting it. I was initially excited since I really need the money, but my friends are telling me to be aware because it might be a scam. What should I do?
