I Got A Cut Because I Dunked On A Basketball Ring And I Didn

If I am cut from my basketball tryout should I quit or keep playing?

Sorry to break it to you, but if you’re not in the team by now, you might as well forget about getting scholarships. I don’t know how it works in your area, but when I went to high school, it is very difficult to make the basketball team through tryouts. My area was extremely competitive (Southern California), and there were summer camps offered to incoming freshmen. This is how about 95% of the players made the team. Once summer camp was over and school started, there was about 2 spots left on the team. In November, 40 people tried out, and 38 got cut. Now, if you’re trying to make it through tryouts, you have almost no chance. Maybe you might make varsity (I don’t know how good you are though), but even if you play well in tryouts, your chances are slim. This is just the cold hard fact. It’s very hard to join a sports program when you haven’t been in it since freshman year. Now, as for scholarships, this is practically impossible. If you’re looking for scholarship offers, you should be getting recruited around sophomore or junior year. Unless you’re a late bloomer and grow to almost 7 feet, this is impossible.

What years was dunking not allowed in ncaa basketball?

Dunking was 'outlawed' after the 1966-67 season, which was Lew Alcindor's sophomore year at UCLA. The NCAA hoped to cut down on Alcondor's dominance, but it didn't work, as UCLA easily won the next two NCAA championships with Big Lew at center.

The dunk was reinstated for the 1976-77 season.

What if a basketball rim were square?

Square? Then the ball would have trouble going in. Unless it's bigger than the area of the ball. I've heard stories of poor kids playing basketball with homemade hoops by cutting off a crate. This seems easier to score with and it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing, so it would be a turn off for many people. Adding a net wouldn't be sufficient either. I'm sure there is some element of physics behind it.Original basketball hoop James Naismith . Adding to my last point, I'm confident that tradition and keeping the idea of a circular rim is why it still exists.Quite mindfuck of a question. Interesting question.

Are chain basketball net good?

i need a new net and one of my friends said to get a chain one because it makes a cool sound when the ball goes in and my other friend said that they are not good because they mess up your ball. Is this true and should i buy a chain net or just buy a normal one?

Is it easier to dunk on a real basketball court than an outdoor court?

So I'm in the 9th grade, I'm 5"5 and 125 pounds.. I'm literally 6 inches away from touching a regulation rim but inside my school gym because it has hardwood (I'd probably get higher if it was the clean, nba type of court with the light wood, but it's not) so anyways, at my old elementary school, I can touch the rim off vertical and even grab on it but only with 1 hand when off vertical.. But it's an outdoor rim ? so I did a self alley oop and my timing/lobs were off but still even when getting a good one, i couldn't dunk lol I'm so confused, it could be taller than 8ft but it's at most 8"5-9" and apparently you only need to be 6 inches above rim to dunk.. So I'm lost as to why I can't if I get as high as 9" 1/2.. could be because its an outdoor court or because whenever I go for rim, I cut myself short rather than when I want a rebound (I get higher going for rebounds for some reason)

How can I make the freshman or junior varsity basketball team?

Dang I aint gonna lie at all when I say this but shooting for a hour and doing "some" ballhanlding drills won't cut it. I was eagered too last year when I was gonna tryout... Boy was I wrong. There was competition who competed better than me which would landed them a spot on the team and left me emotionally and physically broken down. I promised and know for a fact I would prove him wrong and instead of making JV I would make Varsity as a sophomore and start.Don't be eager, Just ready. There are other people working way harder than you to get on the team. You gotta be putting up 200 , 300 , 400 shots a day ( I done it by myself and trust me its possible by yourself ) and you gotta be working on your ball handling to where its a point where it's literally like a string to you. One thing I know is to tie it in a plastic bag and practice and pound it as hard and fast as you can to get better quick. You gotta go running everyday and get faster. Your athletic ability has to be through the roof. Don't strive for jv or freshman but think of it as your going to tryout for varsity and your not at the level so your training as hard as you can everyday to get better. Even tho you your trying out for jv, you want to be So great to where its at a point where the coach is thinking about putting you on varsity. You gotta be studying the game to get a edge and a great and better understanding of the game. If you can dunk or can't then you want to be trying to dunk before school because everyone likes people who play above the rim and it'll of course get the eyes of the coach. But ball handling and shooting isn't all. You gotta work on everything. Alot of game situations and moves and not just drills and exercises. That will help you get comfortable executing it. But you want to explode to the basketball and finish with a touch and not just go through the motions when practicing/training.And work on everything to prepare because you want to be a standout then you gotta do what everyone else isn't doing. You gotta make sure your strong and fast. And your the best in the gym. Never think your too good to train. There's always improvement. I can go on and on but I'll keep it to a minimum...There's a YouTube Channel By Any Means Basketball. Check them out. You gain some IQ and tips about the game. Very good channel.Work everyday. And give 200%. Good Luck and tell me if you made it. Even if you didnt. Still would like to hear.Good Luck
