I Got A Ticket In The Subway For Going Under The Turnstile . I Paid 50 Of The 100 $ Ticket. If I

What are the best NYC subway hacks? What are your best tips, tricks, suggestions, and survival tactics for navigating and effectively using the NYC subway system?

Stay to the right on stairs and escalators.Avoid the empty car in the summertime. An empty car means that the air conditioning is broken, and it probably feels like an oven. Skip it.Swipe Fast, Not Slow. If you keep getting a "swipe again" message at the turnstile, you're probably swiping your card too slowly.Metrocard Hack #1:Metrocard hack #2The New York City MTA has been experiencing increasing trouble from what they refer to as "the metro card system exploit" in the subway system. According to the MTA, this exploit has been around for years, but there is nothing they can do to correct it. Apparently the exploit is a result of the system being unable to read bent or damaged cards. To compensate for that error there is a built in fail safe that if a card is swiped 3 times and the computer reads a certain code that tells them it was damaged, on the 4th swipe it lets the swiper through. I guess they figure if someone is using a empty card they they wouldn't swipe it 4 times. Guess again! Here are the specifics:Bend the bottom right corner of your metro card up to the f (f part of the word facing). It is a 45 degree angle. Close the bend hardSwipe it 3 times and it says "please swipe again"On the 3rd time it says "please swipe again at this turnstile"Swipe one more time with the bend open and it says balance= $0.00, previous balance $2.00. I don't know why, but so often when I take the G, there's a dude lying down across the seats puffing away. This is probably because the G is the most neglected train line. It's like a rolling Dumpster. (Source: http://gridskipper.com/archives/...)

How much is the express bus fare (NYC) if I transfer from the subway?

Within 2-hours by regular MetroCard, you get free transfer to subway/local bus or other express bus.
However from subway/local bus to express bus within 2-hours, you get free transfer+$3.25 deducted to equal to $5.50.

For example, if you got on M15 SBS to get on Atlantic Express X23/X24, you already paid $2.25 at SBS Ticket Machine.
Then when you transfer within 2-hours to X23/X24, you get free transfer however it will also deducted $3.25 to equal $5.50 total.

Or best choice to buy 7-Day Express Bus Plus which costs $50 and it gives you unlimited rides on NYC Buses, subways, currently Long Island Bus, Roosevelt Island Tramway, Staten Island Railway and Bee-Line buses.

If you have credit card/debit/ATM Card, I suggest you buy Easy Pay Express Pay-Per-Ride, which accounts start with $30.00 (7% bonus $32.10) and when it reaches $20, you`ll be charged again and go back to $30.00.

How would the authorities know if I don’t pay for a metro card, and just hop over the barrier things in the New York subway where there’s no guards?

First - hope that you don’t get tripped up and fall on your face while you’re hopping the turnstile. You lose style points and it makes you easier to catch.Second - there are a pretty good number of transit cops, including plainclothes, who can catch you - as well as the folks in the booth (in many stations they have a direct view of the turnstiles, or mirrors that give a view. Oh- and cameras too.Third - if you are seen, you’ll be stopped before getting on the train or somewhere along the line. It happened to me once - I didn’t know that my monthly unlimited ride pass had expired and didn’t hear the change in tone of the beep when I got on the bus. Several stops along, a guy sat down across from me and discreetly flashed his transit police badge, asking me to exit with him at the next stop. We got everything cleared up - but it was a bit of a surprise.Something else to keep in mind is that turnstile-jumping was one of those things that NYPD started cracking down on over a decade ago. It was one of those little things that they decided could serve as a sort of “gateway crime” that might lead to more serious crimes in the future. So if you’re busted jumping the turnstile, you could well end up with a criminal record - this is not a good thing to have come up if, say, a future possible employer is doing a background check. And face it - a ride is less than $3. Is it really worth it to try to jump the turnstile?

How likely is a LIRR conductor to check my ticket, and how does this likelihood vary with the location/route, time of the day, and day of the week?

Others have responded directly to your question, but here is additional advice. You should always buy at least an off-peak ticket. If they check tickets and you don’t have one, you will have to pay the full price plus an on-train penalty ($2?). If you have an off-peak ticket, they will up-charge for the difference if you riding during peak, but likely no penalty. That may have changed in the last couple of years since I left Long Island. If the conductor asks you for a ticket, do not try to talk your way out of it of give him/her some sad story. They’ve heard it all before and unless they recognize you as a regular full-fare rush hour rider it is very unlikely they will give you a break, and they could have you removed from the train at the next stop if you give them a hard time. Don’t try to run off the train, because the conductor will have called ahead and the police will be waiting. They will open only one door where the police are standing so you cannot get lost in the crowd.I’ve seen instances where someone without a ticket will lock themselves in the rest room in hopes that the conductor will walk by and forget to come back to check. (Got to be pretty desperate to use those restrooms!) They know this trick well, and if they have time they will keep an eye on the door and come back to check and stand by the door until you come out.I’ve used the LIRR for many years, as a commuter, off-hours and weekends and I’ve witnessed all of these scenarios.

In the movie Paycheck what are the 20 items in the bag?

1) a pack of cigarettes (used to escape from the FBI by setting off the fire suppressants in an interrogation room, creating a smoke screen – without it he would have died during interrogation)
2) a pair of tinted sunglasses (allows Jennings to see through the smoke, enabling a quick escape)
3) a bus pass (the only item common to both the film and original short story; allows Jennings to escape quickly through a bus terminal – the FBI must jump the turnstiles)
4) a diamond ring (allows a street kid to steal it; had it not happened, Jennings would not have returned to the bank where he received the envelope so he could ask more questions about its origins; also used in the alternate ending in which Jennings proposes to Porter.)
5) a fortune from a fortune cookie with lucky numbers printed on the back (winning lottery numbers, and clues to the location of the ticket - proof of the envelope's prophetic nature)
6) a janitor's key (allows friend to access circuit breakers, creating a distraction)
7) a can of hair spray (used with lighter as a makeshift flamethrower)
8) a cigarette lighter (used with hair spray as a makeshift flamethrower)
9) a paper clip (used to short-circuit electronics to avoid being hit by subway train)
10) a matchbook (specifies a restaurant where he has a reservation, disguised with water-soluble paint as "new liberty saving" bank)
11) a BMW key w/ alarm (allows him to identify and utilize a means of escape: an orange and black R1150R Rockster motorcycle)
12) a loupe (allows him to notice discrepancy on stamp)
13) a postage stamp on the envelope (contains microfilm with snapshots from the future – the fact that it's Albert Einstein on the stamp is a clue)
14) a small container of ball bearings (used to set off metal detectors, creating a distraction at security)
15) a keycard to Allcom's facility (allows him to re-enter his lab)
16)a hex key (used to open lab door security panel)
17) an Eisenhower Dollar (used to jam lab door security panel)

How do the Delhi Metro cards and tokens work?

Metro Cards and Token works on NFC technology. Machines on all the metro stations are NFC reader and writer machines. They write station code in the card when you enter a station and when you exit they calculate distance based on the station code entered in the card. These cards can also be scanned with any NFC enabled device but ofcourse you cant read the data as it is encrypted and you need keys to decrypt them. But you can read the hardware information from that.
