I Got My Tongue Pierced And I Was Wondering

Can I smoke after my tongue piercing?

I just cringe at the question. Can you smoke after a tongue piercing? Yes. Should you? Not til it’s healed, give or take about 2 weeks. Google “Dry socket” it’s painful, causes healing to take longer and be more dreadful, and yes- It is a common thing with tongue piercings with any kind of suction. I had a partial dry socket occur because I used a straw for a slushy without thinking about it, NOT fun or worth that slushy at all. I couldn’t imagine smoking, since that also has so many toxins that you’d be exposing to an open wound in your mouth risking infection and further irritation and just general unnecessary risk. If you do decide to smoke, do mouth wash after every cigarette to help clean up toxins, and like another poster suggests, you may need to dilute the mouthwash to avoid even further irritation depending on your sensitivity level. (Everyone is a little bit different)

Can i eat pizza after getting my tongue pierced?

Hiding a tongue piercing?

So, I’m getting my tongue pierced tomorrow, and I was just wondering… how could I hide it? My school is ok with body piercings, it’s just that I’m involved in drama, and I don’t think that having a piece of metal on my tongue would be good for a show or anything.

I’ve heard that there are certain barbells that are the colour of your tongue, and you can barley tell that you have a tongue piercing. And I’ve heard that there are also clear barbells. But I just want to know if you can get them at the time you get your piercing, or do you have to wait until your tongue heals.

Thanks :]

I just got my tongue pierced 3 days ago...?

Don t worry all this is normal.
It sucks to be on this starvation diet though, I know, had mine done.
Most people I know did instant mashed potatoes with broth mixed in, and the jell o, you can take anything and put in in the blender.
Then call it soup.

Your blood is what signals your brain there are not enough nutrients in the blood here! And the brain signals the stomach to get some nutrients, it starts cramping down, and will feed on itself, if not supplied, that s where fat cells come in , to provide energy at these times. If you can, go get from like Wal Mart, or grocery store, liquid vitamins. Or the health food store.
This will help with your hunger, and also your healing. The swelling should start to go down the 3 rd or 4 th day .
That is why the bar they gave you was so long, after the swelling goes down, you will need a smaller bar, or it will be clanging around in your mouth.
You can drink a tea with myrrh in it, you can get poder myrrh, or liquid myrrh at the whole foods or health food store, mix a little in your tea,...
myrrh is very healing and especially good for mouth ailments, the lips, etc..
It s just a waiting game, really, it will get better.

It has been a week since having my tongue pierced and I realised I cannot stick out my tongue as the lower ball is obstructing the movement. I'd like to know, is this normal because of the swelling?

I’ve had my tongue pierced for years. I had to relearn a lot of stupid shit about moving my tongue and mouth to get back to normal speech and mostly normal tongue movement. My bottom ball has to be set over my teeth before I can fully stick my tongue out. So basically yes it’s normal. Your tongue is typically a small and agile part of your body, but it’s now swollen and has lost a great deal of flexibility. It’s also not used to there being a metal bar through the middle of it. Once the swelling goes down you’ll get close to normal movements and flexibility. But it’s once the hole itself really heals up and let’s the jewelry move more freely within it that you’re going to say your back to real normal. However you now have a metal bar through your tongue. There are certain things that will always be different. This is your new normal. You just get used to it and move on.
