I Got Sick With A Fever And Cough The Other Day

Fever, cough, and headache...what to do?

About half way through yesterday a developed a sore throat that became a dry cough as the day went on. Today I woke up with a headache and now I have a fever. Not sure if the headache is related to the cough and fever or not.

What is the quickest way to get rid of this? I must go to class tomorrow starting a 9 tomorrow. My day ends at 6pm. I really can't afford to miss them because then I would be playing catch up on a full schedule.

Not really sure how I got sick since I do not share drinks or food with others, and I was my hands constantly.

I bought some throat spray and I am trying to stay hydrated. Any suggestions?

Please don't say do to the doctor...I am not insured.

I got sick with a fever and cough the other day?

I woke up this past Tuesday Morning with a bad fever. I went to work and toughed it out but I was miserable all day. I took the next day off and laid in bed, taking Nyquil/Dquil and IB profuren. I felt better the next day(no fever) so I went to work. I still had the cough though. The cough got so bad that it felt like someone was stabbing me in the chest and upper back everytime I coughed! Almost unbearable. The cough stayed and I am in the process of moving so I figured the fever is gone so I moved and sweat in the cold Saturday all day. That night the fever came back! Ugh! I laid in bed allday Sunday and again I was able to kick the fever. I feel better now(its been 2 days) but everytime I take a deep breath I have to cough and I still feel a little pain in my chest? I just can't seem to kick this cough. SOMEBODY HELP ME!! Thank You.

Does eating sour oranges make you sick(cough/fever) or is it a myth?

My 3 year old son ate 3 small very sour oranges and got sick the next day. It started with a cough and then it got worse as he couldn't eat anything and he complained of stomach ache and was coughing constantly.
Doctor, gave him few antibiotics and he's now recovering(I'm glad) but my concern/question is......

Does eating strong sour stuff makes you sick or it just acts as a trigger I mean you already had virus and sour stuff only acted as an agent/trigger. Whatsoever will someone elaborate the detail about this myth!

Thanks.

Is oversleeping when you're sick (fever and cough) a bad thing?

Normally it’s not a bad thing. You can sleep and oversleep for 2 days in a row when sick, but you must be properly checked and MEDICATED before doing so, as a precaution. You may self-check your health with a simple termometer, if you are experienced or alone. Go to a doctor in 2, no more than 3 days if any unusual symptoms persist or if temperature goes higher than 102F (39C) for two consecutive days. You may arrange someone to check your body temperature and overall state during night, really because you may not be conscious, your companion being in healthy condition. It’s also necessary not to take sleeping pills when vomiting (obviously, you can suffocate), and also not take them on high fever, dizziness, and diarrhea.Under controlled conditions, on the other hand, people stayed awake for 10 days in a row (Randy Gardner, confirmed), and slept for 8 weeks, 22 hours a day without harm.

Sick with fever- chills and sweating?

This is what i know.

The flu usually begins abruptly, with a fever between 102 and 106°F. (An adult typically has a lower fever than a child.) Other common symptoms include a flushed face, body aches, chills, headache, nausea, and lack of energy. Some people have dizziness or vomiting. The fever usually lasts for a day or two, but can last 5 days.

Somewhere between day 2 and day 4 of the illness, the "whole body" symptoms begin to subside, and respiratory symptoms begin to increase. The flu virus can settle anywhere in the respiratory tract, producing symptoms of a cold, croup, sore throat, bronchiolitis, ear infection, or pneumonia.

The most prominent of the respiratory symptoms is usually a dry, hacking cough. Most people also develop a sore throat and headache. Nasal discharge (runny nose) and sneezing are common. These symptoms (except the cough) usually disappear within 4-7 days. Sometimes, the fever returns. Cough and tiredness usually last for weeks after the rest of the illness is over.

Influenza A usually arrives in the late winter or early spring. Influenza B can appear at any time of the year.

The most common way to catch the flu is by breathing in droplets from coughs or sneezes. Less often, it is spread when you touch a surface such as a faucet handle or phone that has the virus on it, and then touch your own mouth, nose, or eyes.

Symptoms appear 1-7 days later (usually within 2-3 days). Because the flu spreads through the air and is very contagious, it often strikes a community all at once. This creates a cluster of school and work absences. Many students become sick within 2 or 3 weeks of the flu's arrival in a school.

Tens of millions of people in the United States get the flu each year. Most get better within a week or two, but thousands become sick enough to be hospitalized. About 36,000 people die each year from complications of the flu.

Croup cough?????

Treat the symptoms and take him to the doctor. Could be upper respiratory infection. Delsum is great for croup cough and some tylenol for the fever in the middle of the night. Make him comfortable. Lots of fluids.

Take care,
Jen

Sick...What could it be? how do i get feeling better?

Its probably the flu. Get lots of rest and see your Dr. if your fever is over 101 for another day or so. If you feel any worse see your Dr. to make sure you haven't developed an infection of any sort.

Make sure you push lots of fluids, particularly clear fluids. You can take pain reliever for pain and fever. Eat light, such as soup or small sandwiches. Drink O.J. its got lots of vitamin C to help fight off your bug.... hope you feel better soon!
