I Have A 2001 Silverado I Need Some Help With The 4l60e Trans

Will a 572 chevy engine fit in a silverado pickup?

Not without doing some frame work and probably making your own motor mounts... you're talking about putting a big block in a vehicle that was intended for a small block.

What transmission will a 99 chevy silverado v6 4.3l have in it ?

according to trans shops 130k miles is average life of the 4L60E trannies

horrible compared to the old 700r4 trannies that these replaced

we are replacing these trannies all the time, it is a common replacement job for us.
and hard to find lower miles good ones now., as they are all high mileage now

dont buy a 1994 up chevy truck or van or RWD car- with overdrive- and over 130k miles on it -unless it has had a new trans put in- or you will be doing it yourself- sooner than later.. fair warning..

im sticking with my 1991 truck with 212k miles on it and original 700r4 trans in it and still going strong every day.,

How do I fix a clogged transmission filter?

Transmission filters are to be replaced at intervals specified by your owners manual or at about 50,000 miles along with the fluid. The filter is accessed by removing the pan from the bottom of the transmission. Shops that use a transmission flush machine generally do not change the filter. If you choose to change the filter yourself, be sure to change the paper gasket or neoprene seal. Be careful not to mar or damage the transmission case when removing the old seal. This seal hardens and cracks with age, so it must be replaced when changing the filter.

How do you detect a clogged transmission filter?

Deposition of debris reduces the ability of transmission fluid to lubricate different components of the transmission which in turn could jeopardize the performance of the engine.Transmission filter plays a crucial role in the performance of the transmission by purifying the transmission oil. However, the ability of purification of the transmission filter reduces with time and should be replaced with suitable substitutes. The condition of the transmission filter needs to be inspected at a regular interval and clogged filters should be replaced in time to ensure the smoother performance of the transmission.

WHAT IS THE SIZE/NUMBER OF THE TRANSMISSION IN A 1994 CHEVY SILVERADO 5.7L, 350 GAS.?

Really need to know if it's 15, 25, or 3500.

Assuming the "light duty" 4 speed, it's the 4L60 or 4L60E. If there is a TV cable that connects to the throttle body from the transmission it's the 4L60. If it has no cable, it's the 4L60E.

Although the 700R4 is the parent for both of those trans, it is NOT called the 700 that year, guaranteed.

If it's the HD 4 speed, it's the 4L80E. Only two auto trans offered at that time.

What are symptoms of a clogged transmission filter?

If while driving and shifting fine the trans all of a sudden starts to slip so you pull over turn it off and wait 10 minutes, start it and it shifts fine again. Normally if the filter is clogged it will unclog when you lose fluid pressure and the stuff clogging the filter then falls to the bottom of the pan. Then when re started the cycle is repeated. Now the problem with servicing the trans is with new fluid and filter there’s a chance real slippage will occur. So my advice to you is change the filter but re use the fluid only because that’s whats holding the trans together if you would. Now I’m probably going to get some comments for telling you to re use the old fluid yet what I’ve just told you is based on experiencing it personally dozens of times. The reality is if the transmission filter is that clogged it means it’s re build time and probably has been for a while. Good luck and hope this helps.

Will a 1998 4L60E transmission fit in a 1996 Chevy truck?

Well, the difference is the bolt pattern on the tail housing, and the 'late' model 60E has a removable bell housing. To my knowledge, the rest of the trans is the same, and it should plug in and shift as normal; I am not positive on this, yet.

You will need to swap the tail housings so that you can mount your transfer case.

If you change the bell housing on a 4L60E transmission out of a 99 chevy taho will it damange the transmission?

gm made 4l60e transmissions with removable bell housings and some with out. so if yours has the removable bell housing then yes you can change it and it wont hurt the transmission.if you need help on anything on that transmission i can help.i have all the rebuild instructions on how to fix them and i rebuild at least 6 4l60e transmissions a month.you will also need a "TORX PLUS 50-IP" to remove the bell housing because if you try and use a torx 50 you will strip the heads and have to drill them out and get new ones.

How many quarts of transmission fluid does a 2002 chevy blazer take?

Take or use?

You only get about 25% of the fluid out by dropping the pan, so about 4-5 quarts. Transmission uses about 16.

In other words, you aren't changing anything, you are just making 75% of your transmission fluid slightly less old. Only way to change all the fluid out (which isn't really possible without just disassembling the transmission) is to take it someplace that can hook the cooling lines up to a machine to swap old for new fluid, but it takes far more than 16 quarts, as unlike an engine, the fluid gets all mixed up even as you add new to the old.

If your fluid is black, take it someplace and pray the transmission lasts. Black fluid=internal damage no matter what. To what extent, it's anyones guess. If fluid still looks good, leave it alone, as you can't change but 25% of it anyway.
