I Have A 2year-old With A Fever Her Temp Was 102.4

How to treat 104.5° fever in my 3 year old daughter?

My daughter responds well to the alternating Motrin/Tylenol routine. I give max recommended dosage by weight every 3 hours on an alternating basis. Give your daughter a lukewarm, not cold, bath. She will be uncomfortable at first, but this helps to cool them off tremendously. Do not bundle her, even is she says she is cold. This traps body heat instead of allowing it to escape. Until the amoxicillin gets to a consistent level in her blood stream the fever will continue to rise.

Above all, remember this: A fever is a sign that the body is fighting off the infection, not a disease. Most bacteria cannot survive at this temperature and so this is the immune system's way of killing them quickly. Febrile seizures occur more commonly with a sudden rise in temperature, not in prolonged cases of fever like your daughter's.

4 month old temp is 99.7?

Okay - EVEN THOUGH you are now saying it isn't for the ear ache, Benadryl isn't to be taken for colds with runny nose. It is SPECIFICALLY for allergies - it is an antihistamine - allergy med. Otherwise it is just thickening the mucous & making it HARDER to clear & get well. Your nose WILL run less when you have a cold & you take it - that isn't a good thing though - that is just keeping you plugged up. If you want more info call a pharmacist. They would be more then happy to talk you through what you do & don't use antihistamines for as treatment. ( i used to work as a pharmacy tech...please DO call your pharmacist - they really are the go-to people when it comes to medications & will be happy to talk to you about them).

And no - 99.8 is still not a fever. Not even in a newborn. The lowest cut off IS 100.4 or 100.5 depending on which site you source & even then in babies under 4 weeks they want you to take them to the ER, babies under 3 months, call the Dr or take baby in to a Dr & babies over 3 months, just monitor & call Dr in morning if still up there.

Can a 6 month old have a 102.4 fever from teething? or is that too high?

That is too high for teething. It's something else. You should give him Tylenol and a luke-warm bath or at least a sponge bath to help get the fever down. You don't HAVE to go to the ER like someone had said but I would definitely call the pediatrician to see what their advice is. A trip to the ER is for higher fevers than that.

EDIT: my daughter had 102.3 fever abt a month or 2 ago in the middle of the night. We called the doctor. He called back & said to watch her breathing and give her Tylenol and let her rest as much as possible. And that's what we did.

My 4 year old has strep throat. With a high fever?

OOOOOoooo...strep is not fun to have. I've only had it once and hope to never get it again. It was the highest fever I've ever had and the worst I've felt while ill. I would not be giving your 4 year old motrin unless it's baby motrin because it can cause Reye's syndrome like aspirin does. The Tylenol should start working eventually but in the meantime keep cold compresses on him to try and lower his body temperature. As far as something to eat try a little dry toast or plain white rice. Tell him to take little bites and hopefully he can keep that down. Also give him pedialyte to help normalize his electrolytes since he has probably lost a lot of salt from the vomiting.

Fever in toddler?

If the mucous that is coming out of his nose has a green tint to it then that does indicate infection. You might could just get a decongestant and let it run its course because doctors don't like to prescribe antibiotics like they use to but with the fever he might need one. I would at least call my doctor and see if I could alternate the Tylenol with ibuprofen so that you can keep his fever down. They usually let you alternate it every two hours.

My 4 year old got the flu shot yesterday and today she has a 101.5 fever.?

This is normal. Fever up to 102 degress is considered normal. As long as she's acting like herself I wouldn't worry. Over 102, you may want to let your child's pediatrician know. Chances are they will just instruct to give tylenol or motrin to bring it down. But always a good idea to make them aware of any reaction.

My 5 month old's rectal temp was 98.0 at 8 p.m.?

There is no need to call a doctor, tonight nor tomorrow. It is not very "subnormal".

If she didn't feel hot or feverish, why are you bothering her by taking her temperature???

Why do I moan when I have a fever?

Long shot, but I wonder if this could be loosely related to the infamously disturbing "cri cérébral", an involuntary shrill cry consequent to pressure on the brain, particularly in meningitis. I'm not saying you have meningitis in any sense, but that the moaning may be a direct result of pressure or other stress on the central brain. If it seems to come from your core, I suspect this would be more likely. From the deeper observation of the homeopathic point of view, some people are more inclined to be demonstrative in reaction to distress (pulsatilla types), though it may be something purely respiratory (perhaps even a deep memory of wanting to be sure air passages are clear), or a feature of specific infections (meningitis, rabies), or in particular toxins relating to brain and/or pain.It could even be down a visceral memory of being comforted as a child, when you had attracted attention by crying out.

103.5 rectal Temp...?

It sounds like he may have an ear infection. Cool him down by keep only a diaper on him and washing his pulse points, inner arm and back of knees and neck with a cool washcloth with a small amount of alcohol in the water. Give him something to bring down his fever like children's Tylenol, NOT aspirin. Make sure he's getting some clear liquids like clear juices or lemonade or Gatorade. This will all bring down his fever, but it will not cure his ear ache. Take him to the doctor or walk in clinic if he continues to run a fever that you can't keep down.

Bronchitis and a fever?

I woke up this past Saturday with a sore chest. It felt like bronchitis and that's what I passed it off as since my 8 month old daughter was diagnosed with bronchitis and a double ear infection the monday before. Sunday my body ached like no other and I woke up from all of my several naps sweating. Monday I woke up with an obvious fever and so did my 8 month old. Her fever was 102.4 and I didn't take mine. I was too concerned about her but the sweat wouldn't quit dripping from my forehead. We both went to the dr and hers put her on a different antibiotic since only one of her ears was getting better. Mine diagnosed me with bronchitis but I didn't have a temp while in his office. He said to start the script only if I got worse. I had a fever all day Monday and Tuesday so I had the script filled Tuesday morning. I am taking Mucinex since saturday, ibuprofen for my serious body aches and fever reducer and the antibiotic. My fever is 103.5 right now and was wondering if anyone can suggest something else to ease this fever? My body hurts down to the bones! I sent my dr an email this morning but he never responded. Also, I am still breastfeeding.
Thanks for your input.
