I Have A Crush On Legolas From The Lord Of The Rings Is This Normal

How old is Legolas in Lord Of The Rings?

it's never said outright, alhtough there are some sources that cite his birthdate at 87 in the third age - which would have made him well over 2000 when the fellowship formed.

however, legolas was mentioned in the story the fall of gondolin, which was set during the first age. if it is the same legolas greenleaf then that could make him over 4000 years old - depdning on which timeframe of tolkeins you are using.

elrond was born in the first age also, and his age is over 6000.

The lord of the rings.....Legolas ?

to be honest i just saw the lord of the rings for the first time about 2 weeks ago.................

and i had no idea who any of the characters were i didn't know there names it was completely new to me...

but any ways to the point when i saw legolas i had NO idea who that actor was for a little while he reminded me of like an older actor because i never seen him before.. then when the credits came up i looked and saw that it was Orlando bloom..

and i thought to myself ok iv heard that name before and don't know "who" he is (like picture profile wise) so i ignored it until i saw all three films and by the time i finished them i sorta had a little crush on the blond haired blue eyed elf.... not just because of his looks (which were VERY sharp by the way) but also how skilled he was with everything he did (like with the bow, and climbing on things, and sliding down stuff)..

so after i finished i looked him up on Google and was sorta disapionted. Orlando bloom wasn't as cute as i thought he would be (hes a very handsome person i just was expecting him to be cuter than what some of the pictures showed). but stupid me thought ooh well ill just keep looking at all this stuff on you tube and pictures and stuff about lord of the rings (like behind the scenes stuff) and saw some interviews with Orlando. and well he kind of grew on me because of his sweet personality and well now. (not that it matters) i don't know if i still have a "crush" on legolas or Orlando.. its just a mild thing that doesn't even effect me at all.. like im not obsessed or anything i just think that its funny how looks and personalities are two different things..

and well now i guess im just curious what do people think..

is Orlando better or legolas

im not trying to compare because i care. and want to make a fuss out of anything. im just curios as to what other people think.

sorry thats REALLY long..

and please done start yelling at me because i said Orlando isn't hot because i also never said he wasn't good looking.

(ex. I LOVE ORLANDO BLOOM HES SOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOT!!!!)

In The Lord of the Rings, why is Legolas called "Legolas Greenleaf" by Gandalf?

Legolas is Sindarin for Greenleaf. It’s his name.So when Legolas is called ‘greenleaf’, it means someone is translating his Sindarin name into Common, aka Westron, a language that is descended from Numenorean. All ‘Common’ in the LOTR is translated into english as a courtesy. To that end, Bilba Labinga became Bilbo Baggins, because Bilbo Baggins is a more ‘English’ name, whereas Labinga is his proper ‘Westron’ name, but is hard to relate to for an Englishman. From the man himself:Baggins. H. Labingi. It is by no means certain that this name is really connected with C.S. labin 'a bag'; but it was believed to be so, and one may compare Labin-nec 'Bag End' as the name of the residence of Bungo Baggins (Bunga Labingi). I have accordingly rendered the name Labingi by Baggins, which gives, I think, a very close equivalent in readily appreciable modern terms.” - Tolkien (the appendices, I think? I’ll have to check during my current reread)

Legolas quotes from Lord of the Rings?

In Two Towers, Sam said "Potatoes. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew." I thought it was funny.

In The Lord of the Rings, why is Legolas so accurate with bows?

He is thousands of years old, and practicing all the time. How could he NOT be an expert.Did you ever see a movie called, “Groundhog Day”? Bill Murray gets stuck in a time-loop when he had to go to the small town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to report on the annual Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog who, by tradition, reports on the last six weeks of Winter. If Phil sees his shadow, then we will have good weather and Spring will come early. If he doesn’t see his shadow, then Winter will linger. When Murray’s character wakes up in the same room as he did yesterday, to the same song on the radio, he thinks it’s a coincidence. At least until EVERYTHING, little bumps, dropping something, etc., repeats also. He finally gets back to sleep, but the next morning, same song, etc. This goes on for a while until he thinks about his life and changes his way.Now when he wakes up, he goes to take piano lessons. at first, of course, he is terrible. Later, with practice, he is thought to be a professional pianist. The key to changing his life was to change his ways and become a better man. One way, was for him to learn the piano. He constantly practiced. He got to be professional level through practice.Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce Legolas. A woodland elf who practices for literally hundreds of years.Yes, he’s THAT good.

The Lord of the Rings (creative franchise): Is Legolas immortal?

Legolas is not immortal. He will not live forever. In fact, no elf will live forever (except for Luthien). You see, when Men die, their souls go off (through Mandos, through the exit, blah, blah, blah) to some unknown paradise, since they are not attached to Arda. On the other hand, even though elves will eventually return from Mandos if they are killed, there is still that giant apocalypse in their futures- Dagor Dagorath, or the Final Battle (similar to Armageddon). And since lots of people will die in that battle, and Eru Iluvatar has no further plan for the elves and has not stated their role in the new world, it is assumed that they will just all be wiped out. There you have it- everyone has mixed up LotR’s two main species. Elves are not the immortal ones- the Atani (Mankind) are.I know, right? That contradicts literally everything they say in the movies, but don’t listen to the movies. They changed so much stuff in there, especially with Legolas. He wasn’t even a blonde! It was specifically stated “Frodo looked up at the Elf standing tall above him, as he gazed into the night, seeking a mark to shoot at. His head was dark, crowned with sharp white stars that glittered in the black pools of the sky behind.” (page 387) See? Legolas is a brunette. Elves can die. And elves will die (since their souls are forever trapped inside Arda and Arda will be destroyed).

In The Lord of the Rings: Why is Legolas' mother never mentioned?

She’s not mentioned because she’s not relevant to the story.Believe it or not, in the overall scope of Tolkien’s works, Legolas is not that important, nor is Thranduil. Tolkien states that of all the members of the Fellowship, Legolas achieved the least. (He didn’t realize that Legolas would become the crush of so many teenage girls.) Legolas’s role was beefed up in the movies to take advantage of the character’s popularity. He was added to The Hobbit movie for the same reason. Most of the characters in LotR lack complete genealogies. Tolkien was interested in the House of Finwe and the descent of the Half-Elven. The most complete non-Hobbit genealogy is that of Elrond’s children Elladan, Elrohir, and Arwen, because they incorporate all the royal lines of the Eldar. Arwen and Aragorn’s wedding returns this blood to the royal line of Men. Even then, not everybody is included. Mothers are frequently left out, and probably some siblings as well.Getting back to Legolas, we know that he was the son of Thranduil son of Oropher. Oropher’s mentioned because he founded the kingdom in Greenwood and because he died at the end of the Second Age. He’s described as a noble Sinda of Doriath. Thranduil became king after his death. Since Thranduil had at least one child, we know that he was married. Mrs. Thranduil might well be alive at the time of The Hobbit. All we know is that Bilbo either didn’t see her or didn’t mention her. Legolas might have siblings. He might have aunts, uncles, and cousins. If they exist they play no part in the story. For what it’s worth, we aren’t told the name of Gimli’s mother either.

In Lord of the Rings, does Legolas ever have a girlfriend?

Bill P got it wrong.
Aragorn is in love with arwen. But Eomer and Eowyn are brother and sister!
I'm sure he means Faramir and Eowyn.

But Legolas isn't gay.
