I Have A Dog That Is Sick Help

My dog is sick help?

Well, it would depend on how much of that water he drank. If it was a very small amount, it wouldn't necessarily make him sick. But if he drank a lot of it, it could have very well made him sick. But you need to take him to the vet ASAP to get checked out. Best thing is to find out for sure the reason why he is sick, it could be anything....My Siberian Husky did almost the same thing though. He drank a lot of water ( while un-supervised) out of an EXTREMELY dirty bird bath and it actually turned toxic in his system. He was sick an entire week, he would not eat at all, he was vomiting solid blood, he couldn't stand up AT ALL, his kidneys started failing, and 5 days after he drank the water he started having seizure's...unfortunately he died two days after that in the vet's office, just 7 days after drinking the water!! :( ...BUT regarding your puppy, if it's not from that water, my next concern, due to your puppy's age, is if he has been exposed to parvo. Is he caught up on parvo/distemper shots?? I've had 4 puppies that had parvo at the same time a year ago...they will loose appetite, vomit (smells horrible!), bloody diarrhea, and be very lethargic. If it's parvo, that's a whole 'nother story, VERY dangerous & contagious! The vet can do a blood test to find out if he's got that.

Why do dogs get sick?

Yes of cos they do! Like us humans, we all get sick from time to time. Our dogs are constantly exposed to environments and substances that can compromise their health.Whether you live in the city or the country, pesticides can be difficult to avoid as neighbours & farmers spray their yards and fields. Many dogs live a relatively boring and inactive lifestyle and that can create stress. Other dogs are exposed to viruses, bacteria and parasites in vet offices, training buildings, dog parks and even open parks and fields. The key to a healthy dog is not to keep him at home and avoid these immune stresses – the best option is to keep his immune system in top working condition so he can quickly and effectively fight disease when it strikes.Naturally fresh, whole diet including lots of meat and bones is an important step, as is avoiding vaccinations, drugs, worm medications and topical flea and tick products.Beyond that, there’s still much you can do to boost the immune system in healthy dogs. It is time to read up & do our homework! Dry dog food recall? Very sick dog, help!!!?

My mother's dog has been sick since sunday- vomiting, won't eat, when he drinks, he throws it all up and he is acting very strange. I know so far only wet food is being recalled, but he eats Wegman's Bruiser dog food, (dry) which is on the list, but only for wet. Does anyone else out there have a dog that eats dry food and is having similar problems?? He is in the animal hospital now being treated for dehydration and they are doing blood tests on him. Please help!! We have the current phone # and info but it's just for wet so far.

My dog is really sick help please!?

There are lots of things that can cause diarrhea in dogs, from bacterial or viral infections, parasitic infestations or infections, toxins, and so on.
You can find out more about diarrhea in dogs here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/puppy...

If your dog has been having diarrhea for several days, and it's getting worse then he needs to see a veterinarian asap. There are usually 24 hour emergency animal hospitals that will see any pet, whether they've ever been there before or not. I'd strongly suggest that you find the one nearest to where you live and take your dog there.

Whether this is something of life-threatening proportions or not, is impossible to tell without a proper veterinary exam.

If your dog is fully vaccinated, and is still eating and drinking normally, is energetic and seems happy and healthy otherwise, it may not be too serious, but he still needs a diagnosis and may need treatment.

If he seems sick, isn't eating or drinking, is lethargic and not interested in food, treats or games, then he is very unwell and needs emergency help.

You can find more information on dog illnesses and other possible causes for his symptoms below.

Best of luck, I really hope he is feeling much better soon.

Can you help me settle my dog's stomach? He is sick.?

You don't mention the breed of your dog, but Pepcid AC is perfectly appropriate to give to your dog. Pepcid AC is 10 mg. The dose for a 60# dog would be 1.5 pills (or 15 mg) so you can adjust that accordingly. If your dog can hold it down, some white bread in addition to the Pepcid can really help.

Do not give Pepto Bismol. It contains aspirin like compounds which can be aggravating to a dog's stomach.

BTW, an upset stomach for 1 evening is not that big of a deal if that's the only symptom. If the only symptom is an upset stomach and grass eating, then personally I would tend to give the Pepcid, give some bland white foods if the dog will tolerate it and just wait it out. If your dog cannot hold down water, then that's a little more cause for alarm.

Good luck!

Can a dog get sick from eating fish?

I don't think it will. It is just like most meats. But I don't recommend it.
Studies show that giving a domesticated dog food that was intended for humans is not a good or healthy thing. Stick to a healthy dog food like Iams or Purina. Beneful is a good one too. Try visiting purina.com for other tips and advice.
Also, if you are going to give some human food, give it as a occasional treat. Sometimes I give my pug a couple small pieces of my leftovers. But I make her do tricks for them also. Which is a fantastic training exercise that I suggest.
Also, if you are giving your dog food, be sure it doesn't have bones in it. They aren't like normal dog bones. When they are chewed on, they go in slivers and can get stuck in the throat.. You don't want that!!
Hope this helps!

Dog is sick can't afford vet.?

Just so everyone knows I am a single mother of two who works as a clerk in grocery store and can not afford the vet. No vet will take him unless I have a $100.00 dollars down. I am not stupid and I know what will happen if I can't get him to a vet. I was just praying for something else I could possibly do at home to help him.

How do you get rid of a dog that is sick and close to dying?

OK, I am going to hope that there is a language barrier/translation issue here… As a veterinarian I am not happy with the phrase "getting rid of" an animal. I will still try to answer this question hoping that this is a communication/translation breakdown.Perhaps you are in an area where this is a stray, aggressive animal and it is sick and dying and you don't know what to do with it. If this animal is not your animal and there is cause to be afraid of it I strongly recommend that you call animal control where a trained officer will come out and handle this animal. That officer will take care of it as needs to be done.If this is your pet, or a family member's pet, then the best option to take care of this animal would be to take it to your veterinarian. If your veterinarian deems that this animal is not savable, if what it has is incompatible with life, and if they say that euthanasia is acceptable. This is the route I would then choose. Euthanasia means peaceful passing. Veterinarians often sedate the animal and then offer it a barbiturate drug overdose intravenously from which it passes rather quickly. If by getting rid of it, you mean how do you dispose of the remains, there are many options. Some areas allow burial at home, cremation whether you do in group with your pets ashes being scattered in the Crematorium's Gardens or you may elect to get your pets ashes back individually, in an urn that you may keep with you or place in a coffin of an elderly person should that be their wishes. There are other options for disposal of the remains in other counties, states, municipalities or countries.I would hope that you will make your selection over what needs to be done with this dog with compassion, humility, love and understanding. Imagine you were in this animal's place, how would you want to be treated??Ultimately, something does need to be done. It is definite that the animal needs to see a veterinarian or be taken custody by a local Humane Society or other organization that will see it gets the care it needs. Even if it is just an end-of-life consult and procedure... It needs something done to keep it from suffering.Good luck.
