I Have A Gpa Of 2.66 In My Master

Is a cumulative GPA of 3.67 for a master's degree good enough for a PhD?

It depends on the particular department you want to get admission to. Although some departments use GPA scores to initially weed out applicants, others don’t even care about the GPA. Most are in between those. Your other qualifications may easily make the difference between admission or not to any given department.

Do I still have a chance to get a CS master at CMU with GPA 3.3?

I wasn’t a CS major, but I can give you some more insight to CMU in general.CS is definitely a very technical major, so I can’t say that grades are not a critical part of this program or the university in general.Other than understanding more about the school and major requirements, a few things I’d recommend make sure that 1. your classes/credits are useful if you’re coming from a different school. See if the classes you didn’t perform as well were CS related - sometimes CMU will look for detailed transcript to see which classes you did well or not. 2. Make sure you have things on your resume / application other than classes or just the GPA. Don’t let your GPA represent you as a candidate. Prove to the university that you’re more than that (no matter if you had good grades or not). Just because you can study doesn’t mean you can be successful. Often times masters programs look for leadership, community giveback, internship/job experience, etc. 3. Network and meet more CMU people. Use Linkedin or other sources to talk to people who was in the program you want to be in. Get them to recommend you to a professor or to the dean if they have that relationship. 4. Learn more about the culture of the school. CMU is not the only awesome CS school, there are many others such as Stanford that have similar caliber programs. So don’t get discouraged just because one university doesn’t work out for you.I actually am doing a quick 4 part series where I share my experiences at CMU as well as advice in general. It’s targeted more towards college, but some advice can be useful across the board. It might be helpful for you! And feel free to subscribe if you want more CMU related videos!Hope this helps!

Will I get into grad school with a major gpa of a 2.73 and a overall gpa of a 2.66?

Sometimes what some graduate programs do when you have below a 3.0 gpa is that they: 1) accept you on a contingent basis that you maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA your first year of graduate school or 2) ask that you enroll in summer courses at the university to "prove yourself" and show them that you are capable of graduate school level work. So not let your gpa discourage you from applying, apply, score well on the GRE and submit the best application packet that you can. If you do not get accepted into a program, then you have the option of enrolling as a visiting student while you continue working and take a class or 2 a semester, or whatever your schedule permits. If you are working, I suggest you take no more than 1-2 classes a semester because graduate school is very demanding and in a lot of programs, if you get anything below a 3.0 in a course you are dismissed from the program and the school. Best of luck. Let me know if you have any more questions.

How much does GPA affect grad school admission for a master's programs in engineering? I want to do a master’s from a top 5 school. Is it possible with a 2.8+ GPA with good GRE & TOEFL with international publications?

Yes it is possible, but you will need EXCELLENT letters of recommendation from professors you already had and/or from engineering supervisors for any jobs you currently work. And the many A and B grades on your transcript are hopefully in your Major during junior and senior years, and you did Very well on your senior capstone project/thesis.With all of that, you should be fine.NOTE: Hopefully, at least one of the professors who submits an Excellent letter of recommendation on your behalf is known professionally by some of the professors at the college departments to which you are applying for graduate school. All the best.

How much does GPA affect grad school admission for master's programs? I want to do a master’s in a top 5 school (Berkeley, MIT, Stanford, CMU etc.). Is it possible with a 2.64/4GPA and 15 backlogs?

It is near to impossible to get into the mentioned Universities with such a GPA and huge number of backlogs.I have no clue how you converted the GPA to a 4.0 system though. The only way you may get into a top 50 (not top 5) program is to work in a relevant industry of your interest for some time and do extremely well and get good recommendations.GPA is extremely important in academia (not industry). Anyone who says otherwise is making a fool out of you.Cheers!
