My hp photo printer is printing all the colors wrong. What do I do?

There are two things that could cause this that come to mind.

I is that you are out of red ink. Type a letter and change the color to red. Then print. IF the paper is blank, you are out of red ink. Replace the ink cartridge.

If you have accidentally set a up a color correction filter on the printer or the computer itself, it can effect how thing print. This is much harder to explain on this format. So I will hope it is just the ink cartridge.

1. Check that the printer is turned on and it is connected to the computer properly.

Before you beginMake sure that you're using the correct printer driver. You can do this by searching the internet for your printer model number and the word "driver." You can also go to the manufacturer's support page and search for the drivers for your printer model.First, confirm the printer options are set to colorIf you determine that you've installed the correct driver for your color printer, and you're printing a report, check your settings in the Print dialog. With the report on your screen, click Print to display the Print dialog. In the Ink Color area, select the Color option and click Print.Second, try printing in another programOpen another program you can print from and try printing in color. If color printing also fails in that application, there may be an issue with the printer, or it may be out of color ink.If the issue persistsIf this solution doesn't fix the problem, or you're printing a graph, you may have a printer that can override color printing. If your printer has this property:Choose Start > Settings > Printers.Double-click the name of your printer in the list.Choose Printer menu > Properties.Check whether your printer has a noncolor option, and make sure that it isn't selected. If the issue still persists, refer to your printer manufacturer's support for further assistance.

My printer will not print any type of graphic only text. whats wrong with it?

It may not be the printer it may be Word has the wrong settings. Try this and see if it helps.

In Word click on the big button on the top left hand corner of the screen.

When the menu drops down click on the Word Options tab on the bottom of it.

Next click on the display option.

Then on that page go down to print options.

Under that heading, print options, check that the options, print drawings created in Word and print background colours and images are checked. If not click on them.

If it's not that then I do not know what to suggest.

Edit
Just seen your edit.
It may be a print head problem then if it's printing in black but not colour. But as you say it does not show graphics in the print preview that is unlikly to be due an ink problem.

What printer do you have?

What's wrong with my HP printer?

I have the Hp Deskjet 4180 and it used to be fine and i would print on it all the time. Now when i click print either nothing will happen, or a window will come up saying" an unknown error occurred" Its has brand new ink cartridges and everything is plugged in. It's really frustrating and i have already talked to HP about it before but it stopped working. Is there anything i can do to fix it so i don't have to call the HP people again?

If you want a useful answer, the question needs to be much more specific. What kind of HP printer? What is it connected to: Apple Mac, PC, wired network, wireless network? What is having trouble printing: PC, Mac, Unix workstation, Android phone, iPhone? What error messages or lights are on? Is this a new install that has never worked, or did it just stop working?Without those details, this will be a list of things to check. Some will seem stupid and obvious, but they have all happened. Is the printer plugged in and turned on? There should be a green light or control panel message to show that it is on.If the printer is hooked up by cable to a computer, make sure that is plugged in on both ends. Make sure the computer started up OK without error messages.Check the network address of the printer if it is hooked up by network cable. The address of the printer needs to match the computer setup in the driver. If the router has been rebooted or changed, the printer address might have changed.Check for any error messages on the printer control panel or on the printer driver message area (often in the lower right corner of the computer screen).Check to make sure the ink cartridges or toner cartridges are installed correctly.Make sure the paper tray has paper in it. Make sure the size matches the job you are trying to print.Make sure the printer driver is installed correctly, and is the right version for your computer. With more information on the printer and the computer, this step might be more specific, but there are too many combinations to go through without more details on the situation. The application you are printing from might have more information. Does it have the right printer selected? Does it say the printer is Ready? Does it give any reason the printer is not ready to print? That gives you a start on the basic problems that come up. If that doesn't fix it, ask again, or reply back with answers to the questions above. Also list what you already tried, and what the results where from those efforts.

It really depends on the printer model, which will determine which printer technology you have and what the likely resolution will be.HP (and other printer manufacturers) have different technologies for different needs. The main choices are Laser based printers and Inkjet printers. For inkjet printers the printheads may be integrated into the ink cartridges (typically a black and a tri-color cartridge) or separate ink supplies and printheads. The printers with separate printheads may have fixed printheads (non-removable) or replaceable printheads. Most likely you have an Inkjet printer. If you have a printer with integrated printheads in the ink supplies then replacing the cartridge should resolve the issue. If your printer has seperate ink supplies and printheads then the issue is a bit more complicated. If your printhead is removable (typically by releasing a lever on the right side of the carriage after removing the ink supplies) then you can take the printhead out and soak it in hot water as described in the post here[1].If your printer uses a fixed (non-removable) printhead then things are a bit more difficult. I would suggest going through steps 5–10 in the document here. If the steps there do not resolve the issue then remove the cartridge, turn it over and inspect the area around the ink port. There will be four orange spots where the cap was connected. Check the orange spots. If any protrude carefully trim them flush with the body of the cartridge. Manually cleaning the printhead as shown in the video here may also help resolve the issue.Footnotes[1] Re: Black ink not working

Wireless printer will not print, says its off line what could be wrong?

When you turn the printer on, does the router assign an IP adress to your printer?
(read printer documentation to find out how to see it)

If it does, then your router/gateway works, so on to the next step.
Open up the configuration screen for your router/gateway and reserve the IP adress for the printer.(this way it wont change after a power outage) the how to differs from router to router.
Next add printer to your laptop. again depends on your version of windows, go to start->printers and faxes or start->printers.
Follow on screen steps and you should be good.
Also make sure that the drivers are installed before connecting to printer.

Cheers and let me know if you need more help
