I Have A Keloid On My Ear Cartilage Piercing Will Tea Tree Oil Get Rid Of It

Can I change my cartilage piercing if i had a keloid?

I got my cartilage pierced over 2 months ago and about 1 month ago I noticed that it formed a large keloid on my ear. since then, I have been trying to find a way to get rid of it. I asked my piercer what to do and he told me to put tea tree oil on it. It worked and the bump is gone but now its discolored and a little sore. Is it okay to change the piercing now or should I wait?

Huge keloid on ear cartilage piercing?

a keloid is an overgrowth of scar tissue. the salt water will dry it out, but will not decrease the amount of tissue. if it really is a keloid, you will probably need a cortisone injection for it. if it hasn't been there very long keep cleaning it regularly, if the bump doesn't seem to be going away after a few more weeks you should have a doctor look at it...

Cartilage piercing keloid?

I got my cartilage pierced 2 1/2 months ago with a gun (I know, stupid) and I didn't clean it as much as I should have (again, stupid) and just two weeks ago I noticed a little bubble around the front of the earring. I found a YouTube video that said to use tea tree oil to clean it 2-3 times a week and I've been doing that but a few hours ago, I decided to take out the earring because I noticed the back of my ear is kind of protruding (I'm guessing because it was done with a gun?) and it started to bleed a little. I don't have the earring in anymore. I was wondering if my ear will go back to normal if I keep cleaning it with alcohol and the tea tree oil or should I pay a visit to my doctor? Thanks :) xx

And yes, I'm just going to let the piercing close up because it's not worth it! Lol I'm sticking to tattoos...

If I have a keloid on my cartilage piercing does it mean im prone to keloids?

I doubt your prone to keloids
Cartilage piercings often develop keloids during the first six months of the healing process but the fact that is scabbing over means that will probably go away. If the keloid stays after the full healing time then you might want to watch out.
I had a keloid for about two months when I got my cartilage pierced and now its gone and healed.
People often come back to the shop complaining and being scared about keloids because they think its infected ect. but its natural way for the body to react.

Tea Tree Oil on cartilage bumps or even keloids?

I HATE cartilage piercings! Grr!

I have my tragus and my conch pierced and they both had a boil (a bump on the hole) at one point or another.

I don't think tree tea oil is the best thing to use, I think it might be too harsh for a piercing and might just clog up the hole more.

THe best thing you can do is a hot press. Take a sea salt/ water mixture (which you should be using to clean the piercing) with really hot water, as hot as you can stand. Put a water soaked cotton ball on either side of the piercing and push down on the boil. Do this twice a day, every day and it should slowly shrink in size until it is gone.

It's best not to pop the boil or else it will just be open to more bacteria getting in and a bigger boil will result.

KEloid scar on tragus piercing...?

Hey I have my tragus piercing in still after a 1 year and 4 month long battle with it. i got it pierced coming up two years this christmas. It was a long painful road but it was worth it. I didn't use tea tree oil. I just taped a cotton ball over my ear everynight that was soaked in warm SEA SALT water (not table salt)...I fought with infections, the keloid ( which was visible in pictures that my ear was included in...a lot of people got grossed out by it. DO NOT TAKE IT OUT...if it turns out to be infected, or gets infected and you take it out you will trap the pus, and bacteria in your ear. with the jewelry in it, it gives it time to heal. Also, what type of jewlery do you have in. A ring is the best way to go. It allows for major swelling and wont cause any negative effects to your skin. I have used rings for all but my oral piercings and they always worked out for me. Do NOT give up on your keloid. It took me over one year to get rid of mine but it went away. It might come back but i love my tragus piercing so much. IT still is sore after one year when i sleep on it wrong and my usual tattoo artist said his hurt like hell for 3 years before he could change the jewelry. Cartilage piercings take forever to heal, and are the ones most commonly associated with keloids. ALSO try H2Ocean. Wash your hands, get a clean q-tip, and the H2Ocean. Spray it on the piercing on the outside and use the q-tip to rub it on the back ( i dont reccomend spraying it directly in your ears) and then rotate the piercing gently making sure you get the H2Ocean in the piercing. I used this on all my piercings and warm Sea Salt water and it always cleared up any infections lumps or bumps. DO NOT use peroxied, rubbing alcohol, or any type of antibacterial creams on it. I love my tragus...it was hell for 1 year and four months but it was worth keeping it in. Also try sleeping on your other side and DO NOT PLAY WITH IT. I had a keloid behind my monroe too but that thing i just chewed off all the time..it went away when I changed my 7/16" Labret stud to a 1/4" 16g. one. Try the warm sea salt water it works absolute wonders....and again its not table salt...

I have a cartilage piercing on a pretty high part of my ear, and 4 months after the piercing, my ear developed a painful red bump that looks to be filled with some kid of fluid. What should I do?

Despite what other answers have said, it’s only a keloid which is very common especially with cartilage piercings. Clean it using diluted tea tree oil and it should go away. DO NOT try to pop as it is not a spot it is a form of scaring.

How do you get rid of and heal keloids from piercings?

I got my nose pierced two years ago at this great place in Belleville, they were super nice and clean. About three months later, my nose got too infected and I removed the piercing altogether, and the bump went away.I repierced it in july and for for the first few months, I had no complications whatsoever, until a few months ago. I noticed the same bump form behind my piercing. At first I ignored it and it lowered a bit, but then it came back and was higher than my piercing. It was red and ready to pop, and I tried everything. Here’s what I learned:when they say use salt water LISTEN. It really does work. I found that the saline spray did nothing for me other than clean the blood around the wound the first few weeks, so I wouldn’t bother wasting an addition 10–15 bucks on it. This is what you can do: go to a Cvs and buy a sea salt grinder, prepare some hot water, or warm enough that you can handle it, and mix until water is white. Then, dunk your nose into the solution. I would use a compress as well to put pressure on the bump. If you use this for a week, your bump should be practically gone.Another nice addition would be to add some tea tree oil around as well, as this is a natural healer you can also get at the cvs. Here’s what you shouldn’t do;Dont try popping it. You’ll bleed a shit ton and it hurts a lot. If you happen to pop it, used the solution to clean it, and drain the rest of the bump. Take an aspirin, since this reduces the redness (and helps with the pain). Apply some tea tree oil as wellDONT REMOVE THE PIERCING, you’ll be starting from square one again. You worked so hard to get that piercing, take care of it and be patient.

What is the best way to treat a nostril piercing keloid?

First off, sorry to hear about your problem. It's very common and most of the time those little "bumps" do go away pretty quickly. Some people even get them from ingrown nostril hairs.I prefer breaking a Vitamin E gelcap and letting the oil drip onto the piercing. While I appreciate tea tree oil, I haven't seen much good happen from treating problematic piercings with it. Tea tree oil is wonderful for soothing stretched earlobes when they are dry. That's all I recommend it for.I don't know what your idea of taking care of the piercing is, but if you are making your own saline solution with sea salt, be very cautious that you aren't making it too strong. 1/4 teaspoon (not tablespoon) to 1 cup (8 oz) of warm, distiller water. You can use cotton balls or gauze to apply the solution. Just rest it on the piercing site. Make sure the water is, indeed, warm (almost hot) and the warm water will help soothe your problem as well. Warm compresses throughout the day won't hurt the piercing either - just use a paper towel and hot water, careful to ring out the water and place the paper towel over the piercing. Let the steam and the warmth help open up your pores and soothe the tenderness.Just to make sure the piercing site doesn't have any kind of bacteria, I would suggest make a sterile antiseptic with 1 part distilled water to 1 part (or less) white vinegar. It's a very safe natural antiseptic wash that won't cause any damage to the tissue like harsh chemicals in some soaps may. You should not use alcohol or peroxide on a fresh piercing without consulting a professional first. Peroxide, especially, can damage the surrounding tissue that's trying to heal and can make the entire healing process take much longer than needed.I do hope your problem goes away. Be sure not to touch it as much as possible as this can spread germs to the site. I know it can be hard to leave it alone, but the tissue cannot heal if it's always being aggravated.
