This seems to have worked for me

I am an electrical engineer, I know what it takes to design and manufacture a good product. In fact I am always surprised that these phones, packed with microelectronics, do work at all. Modern phone is a true masterpiece of engineering and design. Here is my personal experience with other phones.Five years ago I had used Nokia 5800, which I loved. At the time of purchase it had specs better that those of iPhone and, unlike iPhone, had easily replaceable parts. When I broke the screen, I just ordered a $20 replacement on ebay and did the work myself. When the body became scratched, I ordered a replacement and the phone started looking like new. However I needed a new phone with better support for e-mails and other functionality. Nokia was in decline and I choose Huawei P6, which looked similar to iPhone, but had larger screen, was thinner and cost half as much. This looked like a good bargain, but when I received the phone from Amazon, I was able to use it only for one day - it broke, the internet connection disappeared. I had to buy iPhone 5S.A year later I decided that I still want an Android phone and discovered an Alcatel OneTouch. I do not remember the model but the phone had the best specs, nice design and much better non-slippery case compared to and iPhone. I still have the phone, it did not break, but it appeared that with active use battery lasted for only a few hours. Literally, if I wore it in my pocket, it could survive a day, two even, but when I used Googles maps, or other apps, it did not last more than a few hours. Very disappointing when you need to hail an Uber and find that your phone is dead.My friend purchased another Chinese phone a couple of years back. She happily announced on Facebook that she does not want Apple. A few months later she announced that her phone broke and whoever wants to contact her may need to re-try later. My iPhone 5S still works, but now I use iPhone SE, which has even better battery life. Yes, it’s expensive, but it is much better quality and I am OK with paying premium to Apple because I know they will invest these money into building event better products. Now about Macs. Whenever someone tells me that there is a better notebook at a cheaper price, I go and check and find that either the spec is somewhat different or the price is actually the same. E.g. - check out Microsoft surface book or Razer notebooks. With comparable specifications they will cost about the same as MacBooks.

Everybody has a story and my Windows vs Mac story might give you an answer. I was a die-hard Windows user & coder. It makes a lot of sense writing code on the OS you write software for and Windows always was my primary target. Used a friends Mac for some graphic stuff at times, always disliked it. When I wanted to write stuff for iOS I took the easy path and bought my first Mac, reluctantly so. Also the first time for me using OS X 10.5. Took a few months and I madly fell in love with it.Think of the Windows registry, BIOS settings, msconfig, etc. Complete waste of time and with each new PC and Windows version it felt I was doing more of it. Enter the Mac and this amazing OS.The productivity that machine offered was eye-opening for me. It booted fast. It didn't get slower over time. It woke from sleep in a second. Apps didn't bog it down. No virus scanners being all egocentric with the machine's resources. And a great screen, key when you write software.Apple got me when I was weak, in the most convincing way possible. Now true, things are changing, Apple making some questionable choices, MS getting better but that's not what you asked. This is how I learned to love the Mac and still do. They are powerful, beautiful and overall they just work, which is what I need.
