I Have A Male Neutered Cat And His Pee Has Begun To Smell Very Strong Of Ammonia. Why

Will a Male Cat Still SPRAY after being NEUTERED?

Can I stop my cat spraying? The best advice is to neuter your cat.

Castration of males or spaying of females can reduce the cat’s motivation for spraying.

Early neutering of your kitten will in most cases stop your cat from spraying in the future. Neutering after spraying activity has commenced may reduce it.

For older cats, one study showed that
87% of all male cats stop spraying after castration
78% stop immediately
9% stop in a few months
13% keep spraying

Another study showed that 77% of cats reduced or stopped spraying within six months of being neutered or spayed.

Can a neutered male cat still have a strong ammonia smell to his urine?

Cat pee has a very strong odour, whether it's from a male or female cat, neutered or not neutered. Also, since you had him neutered at a year old, chances are he has already grown accustomed to spraying. It's recommended that you neuter your male cat when he's still a kitten to ensure he doesn't start the habit. You can try to train him not to spray though; if you catch him doing it, squirt him with some water from a spraybottle or say "NO" very loudly and clap your hands. Either will startle him and he will grow to associate spraying with being startled.

Don't worry that you wasted your money though, neutering a pet is a very responsible thing to do. If your kitty ever got out of the house and fathered kittens, there would be more unwanted cats in the world, so just remind yourself that you did a good deed to the animal world.

How can I stop my male neutered cat from peeing?

My male cat recently started peeing around the house. He is 6 months old, so I took him and got him fixed and thought that would be the end of it. He is still peeing in my laundry baskets and my rugs in the kitchen and even in my central air vent. I don't want to get rid of him, but if it doesnt stop VERY soon I will have no choice.

After neutering my dog will the urine smell be less strong?

SOOOOO after getting answers from people who have zero knowledge about dog MARKING I decided to answer my own question an called yet ANOTHER vet. I don't want people reading your answers and actually believing this stuff. Here is what he told me: The neutering in MOST CASES WILL stop the dog from marking the house. It takes about a month for the dog to stop. The reason they do this is because they are trying to get attention from females, all dogs are different so not all of them do this. It's the testosterone in the body that is making them act this way. After neutering, that's removed. As for the smell - the hormones create a certain smell so 2-3 weeks after neutering the hormones leave the body and the urine smell and the look of it is more watery. The VET said he had the SAME problem and neutering fixed that issue. Before you answer any questions do your research! Thank you all

Does tequila usually smell like strong urine?

I just found an oddly old Two Fingers Tequila Gold... I popped the top and smelled it for clearance to drink and it smells like a horrible mix of dog piss and ammonia (I've had dogs for years). Now I'm scared that the "pop" I heard was stale piss. It's so strong I can't drink it and won't try unless I have proof of its smell being normal... And please don't say it is just to get me to drink piss, my dad already tried...

Anyone notice huggies making urine smell very very strong and bad?

When I was looking for a diaper, I called different companies and asked them how many perfumes and chemicals and the like are in their diapers. Huggies tries to keep theirs perfume free. Since I'm allergic to perfumes, this was important. I WANTED to be able to sniff at her and smell that she had peed a little bit, and not go into an allergy attack.

Now, when you take a clean Huggies, do you smell urine? I don't. It's only after the baby pees that you smell it... which basically means there's more of a chance of getting the diaper off your little one when it's dirty than leaving it on. Maybe this is why we have a very low rate of diaper rash in my house as compared to my friend's house where they use Luvs, and the diapers stink of perfume and you really can't tell if they've peed just a little or not.

Basically, I prefer knowing when my daughter is dirty so I can make sure she's clean. But I know plenty of parents who seem to like the 'perfume fresh' smell. It's up to you in the end. But really, I'd be all for a diaper that made a REAL stink instead of just the natural stink of urine.
