I Have A Problem With My Manual 89 F250

Is it safe for me to use 5w20 when the manual indicates 5w30?

After speaking to an engineer that works for Daimler Chrysler, I found out that the 2011 Jeep Wrangler is supposed to use 5w20 oil. I live in Canada, and we get the best of both worlds. +40°C and -40°C. I was experiencing oil shear in hotter weather, so he told me to run 5w30 and it won't make a difference. It actually made my fuel mileage better by almost 2 full points, and the engine noise quieted down dramatically. The Canadian model of the Jeep Wrangler is supposed to be running 5w30. 5w20 is for the California models, so the emissions levels are lower and it meets their stringent standards. Running a thinner oil is not a good thing, but in the short term, it may not do serious damage, but it's definitely not a good idea, especially if the temperature is on the warmer side.

Reverse Gear Difficult on 1989 Ford F-150 Pickup w/ Manual Transmission....?

This is just a guess, but one of the signs that a clutch is about to go is crunching gears. Now, reverse on any car or truck with MT will crunch sometimes, because there is no synchronizer. However, if you can feel any kind of movement - a bump or shudder - through the seat of your pants, that's probably what it is. You might also notice some hesitation or a "catch" on the 1-2 shift, particularly if you shift rapidly. However, a lot of times, the clutch will let go without much warning at all.

How much would an automatic to manual transmission swap cost?

It depends on what vehicle and what manual transmission. In general, on a rear wheel drive vehicle, swapping out the auto for a stock style manual isn’t terrible. Stock manual transmission assemblies can run anywhere from $1000 to $2000 on common vehicles. Removal and replace usually takes between 5 and 8 hours. Adding a clutch pedal and mounting a cylinder depends on the vehicle and again, whether it is aftermarket or stock bolt in. The problem is, you can’t always just bolt stock replacements back in. If the parts aren’t modular, then adding a pedal can take some time.Swapping out the flex plate for a flywheel and installing a clutch only adds about 15 minutes to the overall labor time.I doubt that manual and auto trans on any vehicle are exactly the same length, so the driveline probably needs to be cut and re-welded. This part of the job would be outsourced by most shops and may run 100–300 bucks. Measuring everything properly so accurate info can be given to the driveline shop takes time. Pinion angles must be checked with the new driveline and in some cases must be adjusted which sometimes requires different spacers being installed under the rear axle.Measuring and cutting a hole for the shifter and boot takes time. Re-wiring the neutral safety switch takes time as well. So, you have the parts cost of transmission, pedal assembly, reservoir, clutch fluid hose or cable, clutch kit, flywheel, driveline modification, any additional brackets that must be bought or made, shifter boot and neutral safety switch swap. Then you have the standard labor of removing and installing the trans, plus the extra labor of making everything work. The extra labor cost is very hard to pin down without knowing what vehicle and if you are going with nice, aftermarket parts or trying to stick with stock parts.Trying to covert a front wheel drive vehicle to manual has potential to be easier. It would be (possibly) easier and cheaper to just buy a complete motor/trans assembly and swap out the whole thing. Sensors might need to be modified and some holes cut in the firewall, but anything can be done. So, I dont know. On old trucks you might be able to do it for 2500 if you buy all new components. On newer vehicles it gets more and more expensive the newer you get as more and more components must be modified or swapped.

What causes no reverse but other gears work in manual transmission?

Either an issue with the shifter mechanism (most likely) which is preventing it from engaging. Try replacing the bushings on the shifter as a simple and cheap first step.Otherwise, it could be internal to the transmission. The reverse idler gear not engaging for some reason. Either the mechanism that engages it is off, or the gears straight cut teeth are worn out from engaging it while the car is in motion.

Ford 460 Big Block, what is the best tranny for this engine?

Either a C6 or E4OD are the ONLY transmissions that will FIT behind the 7.5L (460 cu. in.) V8 engine in your F53 Motorhome chassis. But the BEST transmission would probably be an Allison automatic for a vehicle of that size and girth. However, to install one would require modification to the transmission crossmember to accomodate. You would also have to find a suitable bellhousing adapter in order to enable bolting it up to your 460. I would recommend locating a bellhousing for an old 370/429 medium duty Ford truck bellhousing to use, since the 370/429/460 are from the same engine family. Once all the mechanical fitment issues are worked out, you would need to "wire it up" to make it work. Another alternative would be to swap in a manual transmission, which would then require only clutch replacements, if you don't mind shifting gears. The real solution is to trade it in for a Cummins "pusher" equipped model which is far better able to handle the weight and size of a vehicle like that. The C6 and E4OD transmissions are more suited to automotive applications.

2008 f250 fuse panel location?

I used Google with the phrase :

2008 f250 fuse panel location

and got several links to a site called CareCareKiosk

The link here says 2011
http://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/2011_F...

The title of the article in the webpage is
Interior Fuse Box Location: 2008-2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Inside the article it says nothing about 2008.

But on another webpage :
http://www.carcarekiosk.com/videos/Ford/...

A box says :
The 2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty was part of the same F-250 Super Duty generation produced from 2008 - 2013. F-250 Super Dutys of this generation consist of the same major mechanical parts with only minor variations from year to year.

Other vehicles that share the same platform and major mechanic features of the 2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty include the:
– 2000-2005 Ford Excursion
– 1999-2007 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Scroll down the page and find :

Hope this provides you with all the information you need.
Finding information on the Internet can be difficult.

The only other thing I can suggest is to get the Haynes Manual for that vehicle.
It will probably cost almost 30 dollars.

Can I put regular 87 gas in my flex-fuel vehicle?

"What would happen if I put regular gas only in a flex fuel car?"If your are asking if anything negative would occur, the answer is nothing. The idea of a 'flex fuel' car means it can accommodate regular gasoline and the ethanol E-10 and E-15 blends being sold.Ethanol is a hydrocarbon oxygen bearing compound like all alcohols. The engine computer makes changes in fuel ratio and ignition timing to accommodate the different fuels. The way this occurs is the computer can sense the oxygen component in the fuel by the feedback from the exhaust oxygen sensor then makes changes accordingly. It's become increasingly hard to find a pure gasoline w/o the ethanol additive which have negative effects of their own like reduced performance/throttle response, it's corrosive to the metals, plastics and rubber in fuel systems and it is hygroscopic meaning it absorbs water/moisture. And it goes bad or stale rather quickly if stored in a tank or gas can too long. That's why fuel stabilizers are so popular, to prevent or reduce the effects of bad fuel.Flex fuel vehicle are designed to deal with this but older cars, vehicles NOT designed for ethanol especially power sport vehicles (motorcycles, jet skis, snow mobiles and power boat engines) can be damaged by the stronger concentrations. The owners manual for my 1 year old SUV and my motorcycles specifically states the ethanol related engine damage is NOT covered by the factory warranty.
