I Have A Question From An Ap World History Thing That I

How is the AP world history test?

As Astoria DeTuviel noted, the 2017 test is substantially different than previous editions, so using former tests as a guide is chancy. In general, the intent of the College Board is to bring the test more in line with other tests, and possibly actually make it a bit easier, although whether that will prove to be true is unknown. That said, it is still possible to answer this question in part. The hardest part of the APWH exam is generally the essays, and that will almost certainly be the case with the new exam. The multiple choice section is now based entirely on “stimulus” which can be pictures, charts, quotes, etc. Some students will find this easier than before, some not. But recent editions of the test have contained a lot of stimulus material anyway, to the point where the test largely assesses reading comprehension as much as historical knowledge. So that part will remain consistent. If you are not a strong reader, the APWH test is particularly difficult and will remain so.The short essay questions will mostly be based on stimulus too. This part of the test is completely new and so is the hardest to predict in terms of what the CB expects and how it will be graded. The other essays are designed to be more holistic and less technical. Again, some students who are good writers, but perhaps less well prepped for the exam in the past, will find this beneficial. Students who are poor writers, but could sometimes do okay on the test by knowing the highly technical rubric may suffer. In general, the exam topics for the standard long essay are supposed to be more generalized now, and in that regard this was also a trend on the test in the past few years, so not a lot of difference there. Students should concentrate on broad interrelationships between civilizations over time, especially with regard to trade and diffusion of cultural norms and knowledge. There is still a document based question DBQ, with the change there being essentially to the rubric, which like the long essay is simplified. Whether this actually makes things easier for students again depends on the student. One thing that might be easier is that the requirement to analyze point of view is now optional on the DBQ. Students have a hard time with that, and it is now possible to obtain a maximum score on the DBQ without addressing POV, though you can do so to demonstrate understanding of documents or historical thinking skill.

AP World History Studying?

I answered this in a previous question so I'm gonna go against my beliefs and copy and paste :P

I took APWH exam last year and got a 3. Not the best score but it was my first AP exam and I was a sophomore. Still, I'd advise you to just cover the biggest things that have impacted the course of history. Some things that I suggest looking into are the Age of Exploration, Fall of Rome, the Renaissance, Protestant Reformation, THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION, WWI, WWII, Cold War French and American Revolutions. Don't just retain the information, but you have to make connections on WHY they're so important in history and where they overlap.

Those topics appear on essays ALL the time. My DBQ last year was to look at the similarities and differences on how the Industrial Revolution had political, social, and economic effects on Japanese and Indian workers. My change over time essay was about what were the religious changes in Latin America and the Caribbean from 1450-1750. The compare and contrast essay was to compare the Roman Empire to the Han dynasty.

They ask sometimes in the MC about Africa, Latin America, Australia, Middle East or even the United States(other than the American Revolution) but most are just short and to the point like "What mountain region were the Incans located?" and "By the late 1700s, what empire was the dominant force in the Middle East?".

I wish you luck on your exam! Get a good night's sleep and breakfast, otherwise you'll fall asleep like some of my classmates did today on the APUSH exam -_-

Ap World History Question?

I have a AP World History soon and I seriously cant find any sources or info in the internet. Can someone recommend me some books, websites, etc i could use for my project? Also what are cultural
and gender implications
This is what I have to do: Research each of the following belief systems, and be sure to
include the basic tenets of faith, prophets, sacred texts, symbols, geographic location and cultural
and gender implications of each belief system. Be sure to consider the most cherished beliefs of
each belief system, the true essence of each. Example: the principle of equality among Muslims.
You must have a minimum of one complete page for each belief system. This work will be
collected on the first day of school. Present each belief system in the same order you see below.
Repeat: do not change the order. (The order these are listed actually has historical significance.)
• Polytheism
• Hinduism
• Buddhism
• Confucianism
• Daoism
• Zoroastrianism
• Judaism
• Christianity
• Islam

How should I study for an AP World History test??

It is a little late if it is tomorrow and you are in a panic. One needs to study as you go, take notes, ask the teacher what is most important to know. Meet people for study groups, and ask other in class what they think will be most important on the test.

If it is multiple choice questions, always go with your first gut answer, don't second guess your self unless you look over the test and realize that you answered it wrong.

If it is essay... either read over the whole chapter, and take notes or out line the chapter and highlight the things you think are most important to remember and memorize those...but you will need to stay up all night...or just drop it and start studying now the right way for the next test.

How do I get a 5 on the AP world history exam?

I can not stress this enough. AP World History is super easy if you just study right! As others have said read the rubric and their notes on key ideas. Memorize all of that and try and attach it to other facts from your textbook. It is almost eerie how the same wording from the College Board course description would be on their test. Most importantly focus on the transitions between the eras in history. Focus on what stayed the same and what changed between eras (technology, trade, power, religion, etc). When I took the test I came in with a ton of facts which I thought would help me get a good score. Turns out that it was my study of the transitions and big ideas that got my a 5. The multiple choice section is ridiculously easy mostly conceptual. You need to get yourself to the point where you know the qualities of each time period so well that when faced with a multiple choice question about something you dont know you can think about what was going on and find the most plausible answer.Example: if we are talking about ancient Egypt do you think they were teaming up with the Ottomans to take over Russia or finding new methods of agriculture? Only one of those makes sense when you know the big ideas of that era. Also in the free response section just write something. Even if you don’t know what you are talking about/doing just write. It works sometimes. Some good links:Site with a bunch of resources. Pay attention to the cram packets. They are literally gold. Better than most review books.Course Description (page 44–111)More cram packetsThere is another site with highlights of needed information for a bunch of main ideas… Unfortunately I cant for the life of me find it!Also I thought I should share my timeline of world history. It should give you a basic idea of what was going on in each area of the world during each era. Each horizontal grey section represents a major time period. Enjoy!Disclaimer: I am just a kid. I made this in a couple hours just for myself. It is not meant to be published. Please understand there will be glaring spelling and content errors. Sorry!

AP World History Exam coming up? tips?

I’m a freshman, and I’m taking the AP World History class at school. Also, this is my first AP Exam. I’m really scared though because theres not even a month left, and I’ve barely started studying. I managed to get a B in the class the last three quarters, but I didn’t do very well on any of the tests, and I don’t think I’ve retained much of the information. Memorizing things is my weakness. I really want to get a 5 on the exam, and I know that I’ll be quite disappointed if I don’t, and I’m willing to do major studying. The only thing is that I don’t have much time left, and plus I don’t get home till like 7-8 every day due to sports and musical instrument practices…etc. I’m trying to study on the weekends, but I just get so bored with memorizing stuff. Right now, I’m using the Barron’s history book, and I’ve gotten through Unit One, Chapter One… (pretty bad I know)
does anyone have any tips, or any other books that can help me? Or any strategies to make it a little bit less boring? Thanks :)

AP World History Exam?

i think you got the grading thing kinda mixed up...okay here is how it works...get at least a 5 on all your essays and all you need is 30 points from the multiple choice....presumably

i got 29 points on my practice multiple choice and 4,5,6 on my essays and got a 4....but that was just the pratice test.

test yourself on the multiple choice.

the math is like this

ANSWERED RIGHT subtract (THE WRONG ANSWERS TIMES .25)....then multiply by .0865....then thats your multiple choice score.

essays....is GRADE ON ESSAY(1,2,3,4...) multiply by 2.222
...then you do that for all three essays....then add those scores up....combine them to the multiple choice...then thats your score

the scale is depending on how many people did well...soo if alot of people got 5's then it would be easier for you to get a lower grade.

so lets pray everyone gets a 2 so we can get a 5

good luck man...im taking it at 7:30 AM
gahh...this is gonna suck balls

AP World History Class?

I'm finishing up my freshmen year in high school, and next year I will be going into my first AP class, AP World History. I haven't even taken a Honors class! Anyway, we got our four summer packets, and I just have one thing to say. Wow. Anything else that I should be aware of when I participate in this class. How are the tests? Is it easy? Is it hard? Did anyone have Miss Smoot? How was she? Thanks.
