I Have A Red Blotch On My Fingerjoint Palm Side

There is a small red dot on my left index finger knuckle, it causes no pain and I've had it for as long as I can remember. What could it be?

It is most probably a cherry hemangioma.Cherry hemangioma

I accidentally stabbed my finger with a needle in really deep? Help?

Hi. I accidentally stabbed my middle finger on my left hand with a needle about an hour ago, and the needle went probably half way through my finger... The needle was a sewing pin. I was carving a tiny pumpkin (for Halloween) and the pumpkin had pins in it, and I stupidly stuck my hand in the pumpkin trying to remove the seeds (forgetting about the pin needles) and the needle stabbed my finger really deep and I tried to pull my hand out in panic but that just stabbed the needle even deeper. So I pulled the needle out of the pumpkin and my finger and pulled my hand out, and my finger started bleeding like CRAZY immediately. And my finger started hurting like crazy and turning really red. So I rushed to the sink and ran my finger in cold water for 30 seconds, and then put a paper towel on it and held it for a minute. Then I removed the paper towel and my finger got really swollen, and very purple (maybe from internal bleeding?), and it feels really numb. I put Neosporin on it, and a band aid but I'm really worried. I got my TDAP shot a few years ago, but I'm still worried that the needle was dirty and I may have gotten an infection. When I hold my finger I can feel it throbbing. And my finger is still really swollen so should I put some ice on it? What should I do? Help! And thanks in advance!

What does a lump in the palm of my hand below the middle finger indicate?

A lump can be from many different causes but you mentioned it was below your middle finger. It could be a cyst on the tendon but then it would move a bit as you bent and straightened your middle finger. It could be the beginning of a problem called Dupytren’s Contracture typically seen in people who are descendants from Eastern Europe and who has a family history of the problem. The middle and ring fingers are usually affected by this problem the most. You didn’t mention if your middle finger has become limited in motion since you discovered the lump. You also didn’t mention if you hurt your hand in any way prior to the lump appearing. The best and safest thing to do is have this lump examined by a hand specialist. You could also see your primary doctor who may help you determine if a specialist is needed or if he/she knows what it is and how to treat it.Either way don’t wait too long. You need and use your hands all day and every day and besides, problems are easier to treat if they are addressed in early stages rather than late stages where the problem most likely has had time to become more chronic and complicated. Hope this helps you.

Why do I have red spots on the palm of my hand?

They are often called age spots when on the back of the hand. They normally are a small benign tumor of blood vessels. They are not anything to worry about. On the palm however, it is more likely to be a rash, a reaction or an indication of something. They can be small single spots or blotches and shouldn't last for more than a few days. Check the bottom of your feet and see if they are there too. If they persist you should consult your family doctor or a dermatologist. They could be an indication of a hormone imbalance, liver problem or rheumatoid arthritis.

What is this lump in my finger?

Could this be a ganglionic cyst http://www.emedicinehealth.com/ganglion_... http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/ganglio...

I had one in the same location (base of middle finger, palm side) that eventually became marble-sized and had to be excised (removed) because it was large and unwieldy. Because tendons are involved, pain can be a symptom of a ganglion cyst. The cysts can be tiny, like yours, or marble-sized, like mine. And they can resolve (go away) and return unexpectedly.

A cosmetic surgeon removed my ganglion cyst, but it's my understanding that an orthopedic specialist (i.e., a "hand doctor") can do this also. Since yours has become uncomfortable, you may have involved several tendons as well as some of the nerves in your hand. You can search for images of "hand tendons" to give you an idea of how interconnected the structures in your hand are. (The best images are copyrighted, so I can't provide links to them here.)

Since you're having significant discomfort, and since the discomfort has worsened and spread, ask your physician for a referral to an orthopedist, who can tell you right away what's wrong and what you should do to avoid risking losing function in your hand.

If u jam ure finger and it's like swollen??? how long will it take to go back to regular?will it disappear in

Hi there. I jammed my finger when I was trying to put my daughter's Great Dane outside and it took at least 2 weeks for the swelling to go down. I thought maybe it was broken but I had an Xray and it turned out to be OK. Unfortunately it still hurts and it's been over two months. You can purchase a splint relatively inexpensively and keep it taped when you don't need it to use it. Try to keep it elevated. (yes it does look very strange to be driving and have your finger up in the air-but I received a lot of waves from people who thought I was waving to them). Try ice if you just injured it, that should help bring some of the swelling down. If you are not allergic to over the counter pain meds you can take some of them to help with any pain.

Slightly swollen, itchy, painful pinky finger?

So, about 3 days ago I woke up and on my left pinky finger there was a slight bump, and it was a little bit more red than the rest of my skin. When it gets touched it hurts badly and also sometimes it itches. It could just be a bug bite in an awkward spot (end of my pinky - the side with the nail) Some additional info about it:
- So far it is only up to the first joint nearest the nail.
- It isn't swollen much, but it is a little bit.
- It's only on the front side of the finger

I am trying to see if it's just a bug bite or not, if it doesn't go away in about a week or gets bigger I'm going to go to a doctor. Thanks for any help!
