I Have A Scar On My Tailbone That I Wana Try To Get Rid Of. Who Should I Consult

Should I be worried that my tailbone sticks out like a ball of bone just at the top of my butt crack?

Hello…does it make any annoying sounds when walking??? does it cause you pain when standing, moving, etc. ??? does it hurt when sitting?? are you limited to what you able to do??? if, you answered no to any of these questions. then i guess it is alright. Unless, you plan to be in your birthday suit when out and about. However, if you are experiencing pain, consult with your Primary Healthcare Physician. For a detailed diagnosis and proper follow up care /treatment. Otherwise. Keep on truckin’…& good luck, in the future!!

I messed up my tailbone ... how bad is it?

If you have bruised or broken your tailbone, it will take a while to heal. This kind if injury can be very painful.

Avoid sitting down for long periods of time. When you do sit, use a hard chair and alternate sitting on each side of the buttocks. Try to lean forward so your weight is not directly on your tailbone.

Apply an ice pack (a small package of frozen green peas works very well) to your tailbone area for 15-20 minutes, four times a day, for the first few days.

Use an appropriate anti-inflammatory pain medication if you need one.

You can buy one of those "doughnut" cushion or pillow to sit on - the ones with the hole in the middle so your tailbone does not touch the chair.

Eat foods high in fiber and drink plenty of fluids to soften stools because you really don't want to get constipated now - it would hurt a lot and cause you a lot of pain. You might also want to take a stool softener. You can buy them without a prescription at the drug store.

If these measures don't help you really should see your doctor. You might need a prescription for stronger pain relief for a while, or sometimes even surgery. Sometimes a cortisone injection is needed to help with the pain.

I have a scar on my tailbone that i wana try to get rid of. Who should I consult?

I broke by tail bone a while back and it has healed since then but I now have a big lump of scar tissue (or what seems like scar tissue, I really can't feel it much) right on my tail bone. I really want to try to get it checked out to be removed somehow for aesthetics. Should I be talking to a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist or somebody else? I live in Southern California btw. Any info is appreciated, Thanks.

I get these itchy blister like bumps on my tailbone at the bottom near my buttocks every month or so...?

Every month or sometimes 6 wks...I will start itching near the end of my tailbone above my buttocks it then breaks out to a cluster of blisters/bumps that are very itchy. I itch them so bad they open up and are filled with fluid...and then scab up ...heal and go away... they have been coming and going for almost 10 years now. When I was pregnant one time I made mention of it to a nurse and they dismissed it as ...fungus? or something like that. No tests have been done. I was diagnosed with IBS several years ago..not sure if they're connected. Just thought I'd throw that in. I just want to know what in the world this is and if anyone has something similar?

Which type of doctor should I consult for lipoma removal?

Lipomas are slow-growing fatty lumps or tumors under the skin .They are generally soft to the touch, movable, and painless. They usually occur just under the skin but occasionally may be deeper. They are found most often on the torso, neck, upper thighs, upper arms, and armpits, but they can occur almost anywhere in the body. They are fairly common and usually small and painless, but can grow larger or occur in multiple places. If they turn painful, it is called Multiple lipomatosis (Decrum's disease) . This is when some people develop multiple lipomas all over the body. There is a genetic predisposition for this.Generally most lipomas under 5cm can be excised under local anaesthesia. Lipomas are normally removed by simple excision. If there are multiple lipomas, Dr. Sahebgowda Shetty removes them using liposuction. He uses small incisions around the lipoma in the most inconspicuous location possible to minimise visible scarring afterward. The scars left after the procedure are hardly noticeable to the extent that some patients term it as a Magic. The best thing about Dr. Shetty who is the consultant plastic surgeon at Dr. Shetty’s Cosmetic Centre in Bangalore is, he is one of the expert in lipoma removal surgery with very minimal scarring but still removing the lipomas completely.Ph no: 8050008855 / 9900088582

I had surgery for my scoliosis and i am embarrassed of my scar any idea about how to make it less noticeable?

You have to have a strong sense of self and not let it mess with your idea of body image. I had a spinal fusion with iliac crest bone graft in 1985 (13 yrs old).

I have no problem wearing backless things. I think I have a great back scar. The hip scar, not so pretty. But everyone, EVERYONE, has problem areas on their body. I'm an RN, I've seen thousands of naked bodies, no one is perfect. Here are some other famous people who share scoliosis with us: http://www.scoliosis-world.com/famous_pe...

You don't say how old your scar is. If it is new, it will take time to fade. The only thing I used was cocoa butter lotion. I was was out of the sun the first summer and used high SPF sunscreen the next couple (which we should all be doing, but in the 80s we used to bake ourselves routinely).

If your scar is older, and has formed a keloid, you can consult a plastic surgeon about having it treated with a pulsed dye laser.

How do you get rid of boils quickly?

Probably the fastest way is to go to the doctor or ER and get the boil lanced. That's especially true if it's a large boil that hasn't come to a head yet. The home remedy is to visit the pharmacy and buy something called “drawing salve” or “"black salve”. It smells pretty bad and it will stain any fabric it comes in contact with, so be sure to get gauze pads and tape to cover the area after you apply it. You can also soak in a warm tub with Epsom salts which help to draw the boil to a head. If it bursts, still get to a doctor to get everything out, because it’s difficult to get the core out and it can get messy. My partner had a small boil and the core shot 3 feet across the room when I finally applied enough pressure to get it out. You also HAVE to take a round of antibiotics to make sure the infection is cleared up or it will just come back with a vengeance like his did. Plus the smell from a burst boil can literally turn your stomach and hangs out in your nose for hours or even days afterwards.
