Why do I get a sudden sharp pain in my neck when I turn my head quickly?
Sometimes when I turn my head, I feel like a snap in my neck and then sudden sharp pain that radiates around my neck. The pain goes away in like a split second but then my neck is a little sore after. What can be the problem? This happens to me like every other month, on either side of my neck. Can it be b/c I am tense in the shoulder and neck area from stress? I haven't had any type of injury that would cause this.
I have a sharp pain in my neck when I turn my head to the left, any advice?
Earlier today I was fine but all of a sudden I had a sharp pain where my shoulder meets my neck on the left side, and it only happens when I try and turn my head to the left. I can turn my head to the right without any pain whatsoever. I've been putting a hot water bottle on it every 20 minutes or so, but it's still the same. I've taken some aspirin which has taken away some of the pain but it's still very painful. I have no health insurance, so I cannot go to the hospital for this, as it's too expensive without. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
When I turn my head left, there is a sharp pain?
Only happens when I turn it left, not right. The pain is on the back of my neck, where it meets my skull. If I straighten my neck the pain slowly goes away. Once again it doesn't happen when I turn my head right.
Upper left back pain when I turn my head left ?
Pinched muscles in your back are causing the pain and to get rid of it you have to free up the muscles in your back and here's how to free them up: Back: (do from a sitting position) Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
Sharp pain zapping my head when I turn my neck quickly?
Does anyoe know the medical term for the sensation of turning your head quickly and having a sharp pain zap the rear side of (what feels like) you brain. I experience this once in a while (very scary), but when I asked my doctor he said it was just muscles in the neck (that lead to the head) not being stretched properly that causes it. I have asked other people, who have also experienced it, but they have no idea what it is or what it's called. Can anyone help? Thanks...
Sometimes when I turn my head, I get a sharp sudden pain in the back of my neck that lingers. What should I do?
A good place to start is with your primary care provider. As a spine specialist, we would start with cervical spine x-rays with flexion/extension views. That will show your bony anatomy and if there is any instability in your spine. They can also check your reflexes, strength and sensation and determine if there is a problem requiring further workup.
When I turn my head to the right and tilt back, I feel a sharp pain in upper right side of my back. What can I do to alleviate the pain?
Alleviate the pain through exercises of the back but these should be done steadily and repetitions should be from left to right and shoulder exercises and moderately increased in repetitions., evaluating to check pain in particular posture would only harm further. Ideally one must not do so.
Sharp pain and burning sensation in my neck if I turn my head too fast. ?
Just for some additional info, I have done 2 years of physical therapy, as well as chiropractor visits, and I have tried the hot shower and heating pads, and ice, rotating 20 on 20 off for both heat and ice. I also pay for massage therapy in addition to all these other therapeutic measures I have taken with no results. I want to be able to know what the reason is, not just a possible solution. Thanks everyone for reading my question, and any answers you may be able to give as to the cause.
