I Have A Terrible Pain In My Jaw Just My Ears When I Drink Alcohol

Why does my jaw hurt when I drink certain alcohol?

This is a sharp pain that is in the TM joint or directly behind my ears. It does not happen all the time and does not seem to be grain or temperature specific. I have been led to believe that I am nuts or have a cavity. No cavities and I am relieved to find that I am not the only one.

Sharp Pain in Jaw When I first start eating?

I too get this. Nothing to worry about,It's just your saliva glands reacting to the flavors. This sounds strange but I ask my doctor a few years ago and that's what he told me. I know what you mean though it does hurt and for me I have to stop a couple minutes and it goes away.Drink something when this happens as well. Have a great day!

Why does drinking alcohol cause me ear pain?

A few weeks agoI went out drinking and the next day I thought I had an ear infection. This went on for 4 days until I finally went to the doctor and she confirmed I did not have an ear infection. It just went away on its own but since then I have noticed that every time I drink alcohol I get ear pain! A couple drinks will make the pain come on but it does not stay like it did when I thought I had an ear infection. Anyone know why this happens?

Why might drinking alcohol cause a person's cheek to hurt?

Here is what I found:"i am a physician and also have this same problem of pain in jaws , but it does not always comes with a specific type of alcohol, neither it occurs always . ususally more when i takealcohol empty stomach and particularly mixed with soda . the same sensation is also felt when one consumes sour drinks or sour food items like lemon juice .the pain mostly is felt and starts from the angle of jaws where the parotid gland is located , hence i feel that this is due to stimulation of parotid gland produced by alcohol , the resultant swelling of the gland in turn irritates facial nerve which passes through its substance . any irritant material which stimulates salivary glands may bring about he same kind of pain . the salivary glandsecretion does not contain significant amount of amylase as compared to pancreas, hence , auto digestion like phenomena should not apply here ."

Has anyone had seriously intense jaw pain/ear pain?

I honestly don't know what the vitamin D had to do with anything. Maybe it was the liquid that you drank to take it with that soothed your pain, maybe it actually was the vitamins.
So, I just wanted to tell you to look up two conditions on webmd.com. One of them is TMJ, as this causes pain like this and the other is called Trigeminal Neuralgia because this causes pain like this too. It could also be an ear infection. But look those conditions up and see if your symptoms match any of them.
I can tell you that Advil will help with the pain and heat will bring almost instant relief. Just lay on a heating pad set on low to medium and it should help greatly. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and it is one of the most painful conditions that you can have. I take medication daily for it but still have pain from it quite a bit and I reach for the heating pad every time and it takes the pain away for me. I hope you figure out what is wrong and I hope you use the heat....it really does help.

Pain in lymph nodes the next day after drinking alcohol?

When I drink my lymph nodes get very tender and I feel achy the next morning and lasts about a day or two.. I get this feeling around my neck, chest, armpits, and back. When I googled it I did not expect to see this as a symptom of lymphoma.. But I also read that the pain comes 10-15 minutes after drinking alcohol in the case of lymphoma. Is there any other reason why my lymph glands get sore/swollen after drinking?? I can't seem to see other reason that lymphoma.. just curious. I know that I probably do NOT have cancer seeing as I do not have the other symptoms.
Thank you :)

Why do my ears become extremely hot and red after drinking alcohol?

Weirdly enough, this is actually a genetic phenomenon.People who have 2 copies of the alcohol dehydrogenase gene (Slavic people commonly have this) are able to break down alcohol at a rate that means there is very little acetaldehyde (a toxic by-product of alcohol’s metabolism) in the system whilst alcohol is metabolised.Other groups of people (such as Orientals) typically only have 1 functional copy of the gene for the alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme. This means that they are less able to break down alcohol and its toxic metabolite- acetaldehyde. This is why people of Asian descent typically blush a lot when drinking. People with only one gene are also prone to hangovers, whereas a person with both copies of the gene are far less susceptible. People with one copy are also more prone to alcohol-related cancers, but they are less likely to become type 1 alcoholics.I think that like myself, you have only have a single copy of the gene. I also get the hot feeling in my ears when drinking.

Why does my jaw tingle after drinking beer? It doesn't always happen. Most notably, it only really happens when I drink a beer in social settings.

Ok,  So after years of this same sensation; painful tingling after 2 or so alcoholic beverages of any type - Internet searching it, I couldn't find anything that could remotely explain it, that is, until last night!I was in an Uber with our Aussie friends after a night of drinking and I was massaging my jaw, because the pain was getting to the point that I could not ignore it. I asked them about it, if they had ever experienced it, and they were like -oh yeah- that's just your jaw muscles (the ones right under the ear that attach your skull to your jaw) relaxing from the alcohol.  Many people carry a lot of tension there. If you ever notice yourself clenching your teeth, or if grind your teeth while you sleep, this is a sign that you are one of the many that carry stress here -without even realizing it. You drink a skosh of booze, and the muscles begin to relax. It this relaxing of the muscles that causes the painful tingling -typically last 10 -30 minutes or a few more drinks till it stops.Voila!!!! I'm surprised that I wasn't able to figure it out on my own, and even more surprised that the internets was only full of answers that definitely didn't work for me.  /facepalm

When drinking or eating something sour, once in a while, the area of my jaws closest to my ear stings for a few seconds. Not chronic pain, but has happened all my life. Can someone explain what this is?

There are six salivary glands: a pair under the tongue (glandula sublingualis), left and right under the jaw (glandula submandibularis) and left and right under the ears (glandula parotis). When starting to eat or sometimes even thinking about eating (e.g. thinking of biting a lemon) these glands produce saliva to make digesting food easier. Some people feel the glands at that point produce saliva.  You apparently feel the glandula parotis do its work.Sometimes though little stones block the duct of the gland causing inflammation, swelling and pain, but inflammation can occur of its own. When there is pain and/or swelling go to a doctor.

Amoxicillan for tooth absess, & drinking alcohol?

An absess happens when an infection happens in the tooth, and moves into the gum, and nerve. They are PAINFUL!!! drinking alchol isn't a good Idea for the simple reason that mixing alchol with any medication can change your metabolism. BUT since Amoxicillan is an antibiotic alcohol shouldn't affect it too much. If it is a strong liquor like whisky or vodka it can actually work to starlize the mouth and the infected area.

Smoking on the other hand is the WORST possible thing you can do. the contaminents in the smoke will fill every area of your mouth and spread germs to every part of the infected area... and every time you inhale on your ciggarette, you will move those particulates around and redistrubute those particulates (and the germs with them). The least that could happen is you will slow down the healing process. It sounds though that the germ coated particulates have settled back into the filled cavity and re-infected your tooth.

The reason the pain has gone down to your throat is because the infection is working its way into your lymph nodes. This will cause swelling and soreness in your jaw, and throat on the side of that tooth. If you do not stop smoking and get a new perscripion for Amoxicillan the infection will continue to work its way down your throat until it reaches your cardio vascular tract, and eventually reaches your heart... That is when the REAL fun begins. Once the infection reaches your heart, you will have a high fevor, more then likely you will be vomiting, and your blood pressure will be very high. unfortunately your heart valves will not be able to handle this kind of pressure due to the bad treatment of smoking an drinking, and if you are lucky and get to the hospital early they will pump you full of high power antibiotics and pull all your teeth, and you will get away with a cracked heart valve.

If you are not having such a good day and you get stuck in traffic, they will pump you full of antibiotics, pull all your teeth, and you will have a DEFORMED heart valve.

If you are having a bad day and traffic is heavy they will pump you full of antibiotics, they will have to amputate your jaw, and perform heart surgery... more then likely you will not live.

I suggest you take your teeth seriously,
Jer
