I Have About 3500 To 4000 A Month For An Apartment. What Are The Best Places To Live In New York

Is $2,400 a month good enough to live comfortably in an apartment?

Is that including utilities? Do you have free babysitting or are you paying for daycare? I don't know that it would be worth it for both parents to work and pay for daycare if you're making such low wages.

It depends on the cost of living in your area. In some places you would not get by on that. In others, you'd be fine.

Why are there 2 scenarios? Thinking of selling the baby?

Can I live in New York City with a starting salary of $40,000 a year if I had a roommate? How much are the moving costs coming from Indiana?

Most young people from middle-class and wealthier backgrounds who make $40K a year in New York City — and this is definitely a thing — are able to do so because their parents are subsidizing them. One of my cousins, who is 22 and of whom I am very jealous, is living in lower Manhattan with one roommate in a tiny $3400/month apartment (nominally a two-bedroom but with laughably small bedrooms and a tiny shared living space). Her parents are paying her share of the rent. She is going to school and currently has no income. Not in New York, but for years I made about 40K, and I can tell you that your biweekly paycheck will be at best about $1100-$1200, and probably less than that in NYC with its higher local taxes. Arguably, you could afford as much as $1500-$1600 in rent, if you're willing to pay well more than 50% of your total net income, but even getting a place with roommates on-lease, at that income, would almost certainly require a parent to co-sign a lease with you. No landlord is going to rent to you straight up with that little income unless you're in a shady scene or way out in the far reaches of the city perhaps. So, shorter answer: yes, it's doable. Plenty of people live in New York City on incomes like that, many of whom were born and raised there and are used to crowded housing and do not have certain expectations for proximity and assured safety. As a newcomer from Indiana, you will be best suited if you have some outside assistance from family or else firsthand, eyes-wide-open realism about what you can afford: very likely, multiple roommates in a sublet situation in a not-great area, and/or spending 60–80% of your income on rent to have a marginally better situation. (And it is nearly impossible to imagine how you would manage your life if you had to spend that much of your income on rent with no savings.) It may all be absolutely worth it, if you are young enough with an unwavering drive to live in New York, but the worst thing to be is unrealistic or naive in your expectations. As for moving costs, bring almost nothing. You won't be able to fit anything in your new place. Bring a big suitcase and have a few boxes shipped to you. Moving costs should be nominal. Obviously (dear heavens, I hope this is obvious), you won't be bringing your car.

How much should I budget monthly for living in New York City?

To afford NYC, you should have a monthly salary of at least around $3000-4000, and should expect to spend at least 50% of that on rent. Your costs from there after that will depend on your lifestyle, e.g. student loans, organic/non-GMO diet preferences, insurance costs, etc.

Is 4,000 CAD per month enough for a couple to live decent in Canada?

It depends very much where in Canada and what you consider decent living. For reference according to CBC average rent prices for a 2 bedroom can range from $594 to $1552 per month: Rents increasing at twice the rate of inflation across Canada, CMHC saysKeep in mind these are average prices that people actually pay. Because of rent control, the actual price you’d pay if you were to rent an apartment today would be higher than that. In case you are unfamiliar with rent control this means that a landlord can only increase your rent by a certain % per month. But if you move out they can set the price for the next tenant as they see fit. In Toronto specifically this generally means hundreds if not thousands of dollars higher.Even within a city the price can vary wildly. A studio apartment downtown Toronto can go for $2000/month. While out in the outskirts you can find something for $1000/month or less.In terms of lifestyle, what kind of neighbourhood do you want to live in? How many bedrooms? Do you want a car? How often do you go out for food and/or drinks? Here are some numbers for Toronto specifically. Other places in Canada for example Montreal or Halifax can be drastically cheaper.Rent$800-1000/month for a 1 bedroom in the outskirts.. this would likely be in a basement with poor access to public transit$2500/month for a 1 bedroom downtownOwning a car$150-$400/month car insurance depending on car and length of driving record$200/month parking downtown or free in the outskirtsGas $1.20/litreAn oil change $40Public transport$3-$3.25 per one way trip depending how you buy the ticket$146.25/month for a pass2 people going out for food and 1 drink each$15 at a cheap fast food$30 at a cheap restaurant$120 at a fancy restaurantGroceries$200-$400/month/person depending on how frugal you are

Is a salary of 3500 singapore dollars enough to survive a month, if both you and your wife recieve that.?

Yes, $7000 A month is more than enough

Can I live comfortably in Brazil with roughly $1000 per month?

I'm going to answer as someone who has lived 22 years in Montenegro, a small city in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul (RS).The population is of 60k people, and we are located 70 km far from Porto Alegre, the capital. This makes us an inexpensive city because we're not as big as Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro, etc; and we're not a city far from the urban centers.Considering that US$1000 is worth R$4000 right now, you can live very well. You can rent a house with 2 rooms for about R$450 near the downtown, so you don't need a car/bus ticket to work (if you're lucky to find a nice place to work in the downtown) or go out.Renting a house far from the downtown makes this value go down a little bit, at the cost of 30 minutes of commute every day (a bus ticket is R$3,50, and the gas, if you want a car, is R$3,80/liter).However, there's a warning: don't rent a house near the Caí river! It floods every year, and a lot of families lose all they have:If you are like me, and likes eating at home, sometimes going to restaurants, you're likely to spend R$600. This includes mid-range restaurants for lunching, and some cool pizzas.A house with a high usage of electricity is likely to make the bill cost R$200 nowadays (if you like to have the TV always turned on like me, and perhaps an air conditioner). The water bill is around R$40 (for those who bath all days!). Decent internet connections start at R$80.We don't have popular chain stores here, so you will not easily find cool clothes to wear. A new look will cost about R$200, including shoes, for those who don't care about it.Unfortunately, we don't have many places to go out or party here. However, you can always hit the road to cities close, like Porto Alegre, Novo Hamburgo or São Leopoldo (Porto Alegre being the farther city, 1 hour/car).You can, however, have a nice night with lots of beer with your friends for R$60.Summing up:House rent: R$450Food: R$600Commuting: R$300Electricity: R$200Water: R$40Internet: R$80Clothing: R$200Occasional parties: ~R$150Total: R$2020As you see, you can start investing in something cool (your own house, for example) right away with the rest of the money!Aerial view of the downtown
