I Have An 3 Year Old Crack In The Bone Of My Elbow Its Painless But It Has Not Healed Yet. What

How long should it take cracked ribs to heal?  Should people be concerned if pain persists after one year?

The "normal" healing time for rib fractures/cracks is usually stated at a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of 6 months. Much depends on the general health of the person and specifically of their bones. Is it possible this person has osteoporosis or osteopenia? Has she had any therapeutic or excessive diagnostic radiation to the chest area? (I have three persistently cracked ribs from their being "bar-b-qued" by breast cancer radiation 5 years ago.) A fracture that doesn't heal in a "normal" length of time is considered a "nonunion" and, if the pain is severe enough to interfere with daily living (or sleeping), surgical repair might be indicated. If the pain is minor -- only occurs on pressure to the area or when sneezing/coughing, for instance -- surgery might be a more aggressive solution than is warranted. The risk in not repairing persistently cracked ribs is that they remain unstable and are perhaps susceptible to further, more complicated breaks that can injure lungs or spleen or cause more dangerous complications. I'd definitely recommend that she have it checked out.

When a foot fracture is healing, is swelling without pain normal after 6 weeks?

It depends on what bone was broken, how it was treated ( cast, external fixation, pins, internal fixation, etc.). It is ultimately a question for an X-ray. If the bone(s) have healed and the swelling is aling the fracture line, that is called a panus, it is a normal part of healing. If it is global swelling with dark discoloration in the mist gravity dependent parts it might not be a good thing. Painless is good unless the fracture or repair damaged a nerve or you have a condition that impairs the ability of the nerves to sense pain. I would get an X-ray and see how the site is healing. Less use is better until you get the OK for partial (toe touch with crutches) or nonweightbearing or normal use. A failed healing of a fracture is always bad but a nonunion of a foot fracture is REALLY painful. Get seen, better to know for sure.

How long does a humerus bone break take to heal (Clean Break)?

youir bone takes 8wks to heal, no rushing it, but you CAN do things to slow it down, like using it for extensive activities before it's ready;; your best bet is to self monitor & progress;; if unsure, when you get the cast off, ask the doc to set you up with PT, they will get you on your way;; usually it's ~ 2-6months for you to "fully" rehab this arm, dependent on your personal style of living (work, sports, just type of use of the arm);; the arm itself cannot be broken in the same spot again after 2 yrs...good luck, but the most difficult time you will have is when you begin to "use" the arm, when the "casting" is suspended;; usually it's about 4-6 wks when the doc wants to xray the arm to see if it's healing "on time"...for right now, get your other arm to help you out, but the sling is there so you won't use the arm;; when you tense your muscles, the tendons are pulling on the bone that's trying to heal, so REST the arm,, the best you can do right now is to elevate & perform hand grips & openings, & possibly turning your wrist palm-up & palm-down;; it DOES get better with time, generally about the 6th wk you will start to really ease off the pain, about 2/10...again, good luck, but be careful, just not guarded...another btw, shirts on, use the involved arm 1st;; shirts off, sleeve comes off last on the involved arm...& keep your shoulder rested & down!!

Why does my elbow still hurt two months after falling on it? Could it be fractured without me knowing it?

If you want to do anything useful, have a competent doc look at it, rather than having an X-ray taken and then what, you lacking any medical expertise. People don’t realize that doctoring is much, much more than ordering blood test, X-rays and what have you, taking one’s history and doing a proper examination are still the mainstay of practicing proper medicine. Otherwise why would you need docs for? Many would start by consulting a competent GP (my preference). Some would directly go to an orthopedic surgeon. As you can see from this pic there is much more than just bones involved: muscles, tendons, ligaments, joint surface, bursa, they can be damaged, inflamed etc. etc. and cause pain. All the best!

What is the fastest and least painful way to break your ankle?

Realize this: Even if you could break your leg "painlessly", unless you are willing to spend the next 6-8 weeks in a drug induced stupor, risking addiction to highly addictive opiates (which no doctor is going to allow, btw), you recovery will be long and painful. Some insurance policies will not cover self-inflicted injuries, so be ready to shell out some serious bucks, upwards of tens of thousands of dollars. Now, if you're still hell bent on doing this stupid thing:Find an equally stupid friendGet really, really, drunk, and I mean BLIND drunk. The easiest leg bone to break (and "easiest" is a ridiculously relative term!) will be the tibia; that's the large bone that extends from the knee to the ankle at the front of your leg: the shin bone. It is virtually unprotected, but by a thin layer of skin and muscle, but that doesn't mean it will be "easy" to break, just that you won't have to bother smashing through a mass of muscle tissue like with the fibula or the femur. FYI, the tibia is about as big as the femur, it's just a bit less unprotected, so be prepared for some serious trauma.Place your stupid leg between two sturdy supports, one under the knee, one under the heel/ankle/lower leg. Better make sure your "friend" is drunk, too. This is going to be really gross. Have your stupid friend take an aluminum baseball bat and whack the very center of the tibia with it. As hard as he can. Mind you, this bone is extremely hard, so you may have to do it more than once. This will not only cause trauma to your leg, but to your now very inebriated friend. But hey, you asked. He may well want to hit you in the face with said aluminum baseball bat by the time you're done.Have your drunk friend call an ambulance or a cab (don't want that idiot driving), to take you to the hospital where you can tell them your stupid made up story of how you broke your leg. ; >)There are, perhaps, more complicated ways to do this: garage doors, cars, shotguns, bowling balls, etc., but they all pose sort of "Rube Goldberg" type scenarios that are just too complicated to set up for an idiot who wants to break his own leg. Now that that's out of the way, WHAT IN GOD'S NAME ARE YOU ASKING THIS IDIOTIC QUESTION FOR?

What does it feel like to break a bone?

It hurts and causes and unmistakable sound.I was in my early twenties when I was hanging out with my sister and her boyfriend at my parents. We were playing Nintendo, having a few beers and low key partying when I thought it would be a good idea to have some rough and tumble play with my sisters boyfriend (a 6ft4 and 190 lbs giant of a man), we both intended the fight as simply drunken fun but he lost control of himself, picked me up and threw me to the ground… CRACK!! CRACK!!..As I was thrown down my foot landed awkwardly and got twisted violently upon impacting the ground. I knew not only from the unmistakable sound but also from the constant, unrelenting, sharp and dull throbbing that I had probably broken my ankle. I had never broken a bone before and although I was sure it was likely broken I didn’t want to believe it and tried to convince myself it wasnt. My sister and her boyfriend, both freaking out, tried to convince me it was only a sprain insisted that because I could move my ankle and even put full body weight on it there was no way it was fractured. I continued hanging out but I was unable to get myself back into the partying spirit knowing something just wasn’t right. A look at my ankle again a few hours later revealed a badly swollen ankle still in 7/10 pain. The next day I went and got an xray and was told I had a spiral fracture of the right fubula but that it was stable. I did not require surgery and was put in an air cast, told not to put weight on it. Pain was terrible for the first 2–3 days but after two weeks the pain was only present when bumping or putting weight on my foot. After 4 week I was much better and xray showed I was almost fully healed.Don’t break a bone if you can help it, it sucks. Also no wrestling with people past the age of 18, especially when alcohol is involved lmao.

How long does it take tissue to heal?

I was freaking out over something and bit down QUITE hard on my arm...hard enough that I think I must have damaged the tissue. It's been more than a week since then, and the spot where it happened it still just as sore to the touch as it was the day after the incident...does anyone have any idea how long it will take to heal?

What are the easiest bones to break and why?

Any bone can be broken easily provided to requirements are fulfilled1. Either provide a high energy blow to the bone which it cannot bear and break( e.g all the high energy trauma caused by falls, fights, RTAs, MVAs etc)  or..2. Make the bone sufficiently weak so it cannot even bear a trivial force(e,g osteoporosis, osteomalacia, osteogenesis imperfecta, cola drinking, steroid intake, smoking, decreased calcium intake etc).I don't know about your intentions yet, but if  you really want to break someones bone ,break ULNA. It is a bone that is very superficial and obvious for quite a length. Just first let him know that you are going to hit him so that he folds his forearm to save his face and then hit him hard enough on the forearm. Probably the bone you are going to hit is ULNA. The fracture you are going to cause him is a Night Stick fracture.Same thing can be done with Tibia and ClavicleSpeaking of clavicle and to answer your question.Clavicle or the collar bone is the most commonest bone to fracture. Its very obvious and subcutaneous. It is formed intramembranously like skull bones ,facial bones, scapula contrary to other strong bones in the body which are formed by enchondral formation. clavicle is sinusodial like skull bones and mandible ,so easy to break.Other than clavicle Skull fractures are fairly easy . You just have to bang a hammer on the hear or even a glass jar would do itLast but not the least a misnomer Penile fractures are very very ubiquitous in men who are doing intercourse with a heavy girl in Cow girl position.;)P.SPenis is a bone in only few circumstances in human beings. But dogs and giraffes are found to have a bone in their penises
