Can I install Mac OS X on my HP laptop?

A lot of the answerers before me brought up some interesting things, however they did not fully answer the question. The answer is YES, it is possible to install Mac OS X on virtually any machine that is powerful enough and compatible enough. There are two methods:The easy and questionably legal way:This method involves running OS X in a virtual environment rather than installing the OS directly onto the machine. You need specifically VMware Workstation and a hack to get it to work. I cannot provide links on where to get these files, but a quick search on some sites will lead you to a file that can download the virtual hard disk file and the hack for VMware Workstation. This method is essentially effortless, and because it involves downloading and patching software, is thus extremely questionably legal and not as much recommended. The plus side is you can run OS X inside of Windows, so you won't have to reboot or mess with installations as that's already done for you. The downside is that if your machine is old or slow, you'll have a pretty bad experience of virtualizing the OS.The hard and somewhat questionably legal way:This method involves already owning a Mac (or having admin access to one). Download the latest OS X installation app from the App Store and download Tonymacx86's tools for creating the USB flashdrive. Make sure it's at least 8 GB in size, they sell for cheap at Fry's and Micro Center. Follow the onscreen instructions and plug it into your machine's USB port and set its boot priority to USB first. Follow the installation guide closely and hope that it works. If that doesn't work the first time, look up your machine's specific model on Tonymacx86's forums and see if anyone else has similar issues. Since there are many PC laptops in existence (HP is not the only manufacturer either!), it is impossible to give a one-size-fits-all solution. I suggest running the installation in verbose mode and having the logs open at the same time while installing. This will at least give you access to see what's going on under the hood of the installation. The easiest and most legal way (and the priciest):Purchase a MacBook. It's a great machine, and you can run literally any operating system on there. You can look up guides on how to even triple-boot Linux, OS X and Windows using BootCamp.

Installing windows on HP compaq de7100 sff?

Friend of mine got a computer from bank she works in.. (they upgraded to new PC`s)
It doesn`t have any OS, i am trying to install XP on it (don`t want to risk with win7, PC is quit old .. )
but whenever i make my flash drive bootable and try to boot from it on that pc, nothing works
First i did as installation said i have to do, but after installing and starting computer it says that there is problem with bootable disc (i suppose it`s talking about hard drive)
i tried different version, that one says some steps i have to do, but it doesn`t install anything, it just starts up windows XP from usb drive.. when i take it out, again the error about bootable disc..
Could there be something wrong with hard drive ? or am i doing something wrong when installing?
PS. should i try windows 7 ?
PSS. original windows disc that came with PC when bought is lost..so i`m trying to install pirated version..

I have installed 4GB RAM(1GB * 4) to my PC. but in windows XP or Vista both it shows only 3GB Ram. what to do?

You obviously have a 32-bit version of Windows. Windows is the only operating system that still has this problem, but no matter how much RAM you install you'll never see more than 3 GB, and if you add more hardware to your PC that number will actually decrease. It can drop as low as 2.2 GB.

Basically, your operating system has to map out where all of your hardware is, and because of the way Windows assigns these addresses to your hardware you will never be able to use all of your installed RAM and you'll never be able to use more than 2.2 - 3.5 GB of RAM. If you use some versions of Linux or have a Mac running OS X made in the past year you won't have this problem.

Your only option right now is to install Vista x64, which is a 64-bit operating system and can use more than 4 GB. The problem with that is that driver support is terrible, so most likely your PC will not be stable in any sense of the word (frequent crashes, BSODs, incompatible software and hardware, etc.). In my opinion it's absolutely ridiculous how far Microsoft is lagging behind OS X and Linux, especially considering Linux is entirely volunteer-driven. If I were you I'd just install Ubuntu 64-bit. It's free, it's 64-bit, and (gasp) it actually works.

Don't take my word alone that Windows sucks, though. You know those "I'm a PC" ads you see all the time? They were made on Macs. Even Microsoft knows how bad their operating system is.

I'm installing iAtkos v7 Mac OS X leopard on my PC.Just 1 problem I can't figure out..?

I am installing mac OS X leopard 10.5.7 on my PC. It loads just fine error free up until the installation where i select language and click next, etc. When it gets past the BIOS part to the installation my mouse and keyboard quit working. This also happens when in the windows xp setup. They both work in the BIOS when booting and pressing F8 and such but as soon as it gets to the setup the numlock light turns off and the keyboard quits working and the laser on the mouse turns off and I can't click or press anything. They are USB mouse and keyboard. I do not have a ps2 of either or an adapter. They work in ubuntu setups and vista setups so idk what the problem is. Any ideas?
