I Have Anxiety Can I Become A Paramedic

I have anxiety can I become a paramedic?

In all seriousness you may have to choose another path of employment....as a paramedic you can never be seen as an anxious person or have anxiety attacks when treating someone near death or very ill, they need people who are confident, show that they know what their doing (even if they don't ), if you were to have an anxiety attack on the job, you are not reliable or able to do your job!!!
But you could work in the comms room and provide information to callers who ring 000, 911 or whatever..

I want to be a paramedic but I am an introvert?

That's an overworked and under paid job. They make like $13 an hour.
Everyone gets used to thing after a while, you just have to "give in" and get over it.
If u want to do it go for it and if it isn't for u then try something else.

Emt-B Classes - How you deal with Anxiety?

Hello!
I was interested in taking EMT-B classes, and I'm going to be doing
ride alongs with a near by EMS company before I go to school with them.

I'm feeling a little anxiety, and I've had some anxiety before it.
I'm kinda nervous about performing certain tasks in front of a 30-40 people class.
Even though I know I shouldn't let it, I just don't want any anxiety to overcome me
learning to become an EMT.

This is something I would like to do very much. I know it will take a good amount of studying and practicing, and I'm okay with that.

What do you recommend doing to get over this anxiety during class, during ride alongs, and while on the job, or just hanging around the station?
Also, I'm planning on taking a karate class soon, I'm thinking that may help!

I do understand EMT is a very rewarding job in its own ways.

Any advice and prayers would be great! Thanks very much. :)

Can people with anxiety be an EMT?

If it means enough to you to overcome said anxiety by tackling it head on, then yes. I had/have some social anxiety issues ever since I was a kid. Being the ugly duckling in The Deep South is rough. At one point I was really struggling to find work. One of the few opportunities available was doing commission sales. I needed a job and I wanted that discount on outdoor sporting equipment. So I made it work. It helped enormously with my sense of self confidence concerning breaking the ice with strangers. The job ended up sucking because of the employer engaging in shady practices, but they are now out of business and it taught me some things. So what can you do?At any rate, I would just say: how much is it worth to you?Once there was a violin virtuoso, who after the performance of a lifetime, was approached by a trust fund kid. They said to the violinist “I would give anything to play like that.” The violinist looked at them and responded simply “I did.”Thanks for the A2A.

I have type 1 diabetes and bipolar disorder. Can I become a paramedic?

You sure can. I've known several insulin dependent medics and several that were bat shit crazy. Most of the mentally unstable ones were that way before becoming medics. Most of the diabetics didn't start out that way, but through a rigorous regimen of stress, poor sleep, and terrible dietary habits they became diabetics.

Can I become a police officer or firefighter with my medical history?

You would not be eligible to be a police officer with that condition. No police department will hire someone who has a preexisting psychological or emotional illness requiring medication. While some fire departments do not do extensive background investigations, your condition would be discovered when you have to turn over all of your medical records as part of the background check. Your condition would automatically disqualify you from a firefighting or emergency medical services career also.

While a volunteer fire department might not catch you when you apply, if at any time they conducted an physical examination in complain with NFPA standards, the fact that you are on Klonopin would be discovered, and again, you would be disqualified.

If you deliberately try to conceal your condition during a background check, you would be subject to immediate dismissal if that were discovered, and in some instances, you might even be liable for criminal prosecution. I suggest you change your career goals. You may also find that you would not be able to be licensed in certain health care professions with that preexisting condition in some states.
