I Have Completed My Medical Education And Completed All Usmle Exams

Can I take USMLE step 1 exam before joining medical college? Not that I would, but I'm just curious to know.?

You can't take the USMLE unless you are currently enrolled in an MD school, DO school, or are applying as a Foreign Medical Grad with eligibility confirmation from the ECFMG.

Most Med Students take the USMLE during the short break after their first year of Med School because that's when they have time to take it - the exam is 8 hours long, and students often have to travel to a testing site. Most testing centers are NOT open on weekends, so you would have to miss 16+ hours of lecture and lab to take it during the school year.

Also, because of the scheduling system for the USMLE (scheduling an exam date is a multi-step process requiring certain confirmations at each step), it may just be impossible to get all the paperwork done to actually take the exam during the first semester.

What is the cost of postgraduate medical education in US ? What are the steps (Usmle)?

Thanks for the A2A!According to the American Association of Medical Colleges, the average cost of the 1st year of medical school at a private school is $55,000, while for public school it is ~$34,000 for residents of the state in which they're schooling and ~$57,000 for nonresidents of that state.  This is also just the first year of medical school, and the cost per year rises significantly with third- and fourth-year clerkships.  This puts your total 4 year cost for medical school somewhere in the ~$275,000 range for private schools and nonresident public schools and ~$200,000 for residents in public schools! There are 3 USMLE steps to take to become a licensed physician.  USMLE Step 1 is arguably the most important in terms of residency placement.  It is taken towards the end of your 2nd year of medical school.  USMLE Step 2 is broken into 2 parts: the Clinical Skills (CS) and Clinical Knowledge (CK) portions.  The CS portion simulates patient clinic visits and tests your ability to interact with patients as well as history/physical exam skills.  The CK portion is more like Step 1, where you are answering multiple choice questions on a computer.  The USMLE Step 2 examinations are taken during the 4th year of medical school.  The USMLE Step 3 is taken after one graduates medical school.  It is a 2 day examination that features multiple-choice testing as well as live patient simulations.  The exam costs are as follows: $600 for step 1, $600 for step 2 CK, $1275 for step 2 CS, and $830 for step 3.

What is the criteria to do MD in USA after completing MBBS in India?

In response to your doubt in Pranav's answer- Please note the eligibility criteria and pattern of Medical school varies in US. An applicant must usually have a baccalaureate in science and relevant subjects to be eligible for a medical school. To elaborate further, as a pre-requisite for an entry in the medical school, you should consider programs referred as 'pre-medical' study. A 4 years Bachelors in Biology/science is required to apply for medicine. If you are strongly considering medical from the US, applications should be made directly to the undergraduate colleges that customarily prepare students for medical school. You would however need to take SAT that is required for a Bachelors in all disciplines.I would suggest you contact the 'The Association of American Medical College' that lists the admission requirements of each schools and the statistics for the admission.SAT is a standardized test that is common to all applicants considering a Bachelors degree from USA.I suggest you finish MBBS in india and then take USMLE to do MD there rather than go directly for MBBS.

Medical School without BS or MCAT?

Can we study Medicine in other countries with no BS or MCAT at a cheaper price?
I am an American and finished High School. I want to study medicine in other countries with no requirements of BS degree or MCAT and at a cheaper price. US needs 8 or 9 or 10 years to get the medical degree. MCAT is a terribly difficult exam. I do not want to waste my time in unnecessary BS.
What is the best possible and easy way for an American student to become a doctor at a lower price ?
I heard some other countries are giving medical courses at a cheaper prices.
Are they really valid in US or Canada ? Is really BS is a waste of time then ? Please enlighten me.

USMLE and MCAT?

the mcat is the entrance exam for medical school while the usmle is a national standardized exam that all medical students must take to continue on with their education. Basically, you take the mcat to get to medical school and the usmle to stay there.

How can I get admission for an MD abroad after completing an MBBS?

You’ll have to clear USMLE for that. But keep in mind, if you want to pursue surgery then it's not feasible as Indians are rarely given a branch of surgery though you can very easily get Medicine stream. It not only requires clearing its exams but also your CV must be pretty impressive. In U. S. they not only emphasize upon marks but also your participation in good social causes so that they can judge your level of compassion for doing good to the society after becoming a doctor. You can attempt the exam thrice.Downside :Its pretty expensive affair. Like your one time examination fee is somewhat around 70,000inr. Plus the books are also expensive. Also you can concentrate either on USMLE or on NEET, not on both.I had these pics in my cell so I uploaded them. I guess that’s all you need to know about USMLE. All the very best.

When do people take boards for medical school?

The term "board exam" is usually used in reference to a physician who has completed all of his/her training and is taking a medical specialty board certification examination.

Medical students have to go through three medical licensing examinations. These are called the USMLE (US Medical Licensing Examinations). The first exam is called Step One and is taken after a student completes the first two years of medical school and the student must pass this exam before continuing on in the next two years of school. Near the end of the fourth year of medical school a student has to take the Step Two exams. These exams test clinical knowledge and clinical skills. These exams must be passed before a school can award the MD degree.

There is a Step Three exam for foreign educated students to test their English skills.

You can get the details about these exams here: http://www.usmle.org/
