I Have Contacts That I Sleep In But My Eyes Are Always Red

My eye is really red after sleeping with contacts in?

Your eyes need moisture and oxygen. When you wear contacts your eyes don't recieve these on the covered area. The longer they are worn the less they get,how much and what this does to your eyes varies from person to person.30 day contacts allow more air to get to the covered part of your eye,but some people who have chronic dry eyes still can't get away with wearing them more then 8 hours. If someone continuously wears contacts without giving their eyes time to get air the blood vessels in your eyes will actually grow around the edges of where the lense sits and give you permenant bloodshoty eyes.I know this sadly, from experience.Flush your eyes with saline and take some time off from your contacts for a day or two.If they don't improve head to an eye doctor and get some antibiotic drops. The light sensitivity has always gone along with an eye infection,at least in me personally. You contact may have dried and scratched your cornea a bit while sleeping.Your eyes may not be equally affected, you might have got away with the other eye.

I Slept with my contacts in and now my eye hurts, is red and puffy what should i do?

Lubricate your eye really well with saline solution or re-wetting drops. Then, once they are wet enough, remove your contact for a few hours or more, and keep apply moisture every 1/2 hour or more. If the contact won't come out easily, don't pull it, it will hurt worse. Put a cool, wet washcloth over your eye to help with the swelling and pain.

You really should try wearing a more porous lens. The more breathable, the better. I sleep in mine and they don't bother me but less breatheable ones kill my eyes.

Slept in contacts, eye hurts..help?

You don't have an infection. I left my contacts in for like 4 years straight.... yes I had a terrible eye infection.... but I can assure you that just leaving them in over night didn't hurt you...

Your eyes are cut off from oxygen when you leave your contacts in. A little bit of pain is bound to happen... had you not taken them out... you probably wouldn't be in the pain....

I gave up on contacts becuase I hated taking them out and putting them back in.... so I left them in until I started not to be able to see..... I actually forgot about them.... I went to the eye doctor because I started to get really really blurred vision... and he told me I had my contacts in.... big oops.....

none the less... I've worn glasses now for 2 years , will never put contacts back in,

Eye really red after sleeping with contacts on.?

This exact thing happened to my son. He has eye allergies, and that seems to make him more prone to infections. He had healthy bacteria (that we all have) get up under his contacts and cause an infection. I would see an opthomologist, as you will need a prescription for drops. My son had to stop wearing his contacts for two weeks (one week to put in the drops, and one week to continue healing the eye). This was after falling asleep in the contacts for 10 minutes in front of the TV on a few nights in a row (he had been real busy and tired that week, and I just let him do it, thinking how short a timeframe it was couldn't do any harm). I would wake him, make him take out the contacts, and send him on to bed for the night (he normally takes his out daily). However, it was just enough time for an infection to take hold. Long story short, don't sleep in your contacts, even for a short period of time. Don't swim in them, either, ever. My son uses Elestat drops during change of seasons or any time his allergies act up, as well. He also vigorously washes his eyelashes twice a day with a washcloth and baby shampoo. It seems to help the buildup. No-rub solutions are misleading, too. You need to rub the contacts and rinse them daily to remove the protein.

Why are the corners of my eyes always red?

When I wake up my eyes always hurt, and the inside corners of my eyes are really red. I get plenty of sleep, about 8 hours a night. I also have really dark spots under my eyes and I always feel tired no matter how much sleep I get. I take vitamins and am relatively healthy. Does anyone know what is wrong?

I accidentally slept with my contacts in and now one eye is over sensitive to light and red what should I do?

Sounds like you scratched your eye (and it hurts when your pupil is supposed to contract because of bright lights). Remove your contacts for at least 3 days or however long your doctor recommends. If they are disposable contacts throw out this pair and start a new pair when you're ok to.

Avoid bright lights but no need to cover completely. Wear sun glasses if it helps (which will also keep you from touching your eye too)

Slept with my contact lenses!! Now my eyes really hurt!!?

I forgot to take my contact lenses out last night and I slept with them in my eyes. there were times that I have done this and it didn't cause any problems.

But today I woke up with my eyes a little swollen and red, and it really stings, I can't even close my eyes, and I can't look into light or just daylight, and tears are constantly falling down from my eyes.

I also have a little headache..

Needless to say I took the lenses out when I woke up..
Have any of you experienced this?? What is this?? will it pass? Should I see a doctor??

Thanks for your help!!

Why do my eyes turn red when i wear contacts?

Your eyes are most likely red from wearing contacts because you have had the contacts in too long. Your eye doesn’t get as much oxygen when the contact lense covers it and so it strains the eye.I found an article about how to keep your eyes from being red with contacts in.How to Avoid Red Eyes From Wearing Contact LensesHope this helps!
