If you study successful bike renting places in India, its either Goa or Mysore or Ladakh etc. There are many places around to see in the radius of 30 Km or bike is the preferred means of transport as other things are not worth. This is most important. Strategically place your business accordingly.Select right vehicles as per terrain. Suppose it is Goa, Activas are preffered. If it is hills around, Enfields are preferred. Check which vehicle works for your terrain.Rent a place which is placed near to airport/bus stand/railway station to start your business.Understand who is losing once you start this business. Try coming in terms with them. For example - consider starting a bike rental in Goa. People who may loose business are autos and taxis. Try to make good understanding with them. Follow negotiation techniques.Hire guys who have good contacts in those places. Pay them share in profit to start up with until you gain good hold. How do I send a bike on a train from Bangalore?
I recently moved my bike from Bengaluru to New Delhi by Indian Railway and hence I can tell and guide on the current norms and formalities required. First of all if you are aware and educated then there is absolutely no need to bribe a penny. You will find a lot of people asking you for loading unloading charges just ignore them and state that Sir, its clearly mentioned that loading/unloading is the job of the Railways for which I have already paid.You just need to go to outward parcel office of the source Railway station with the Xerox copy of RC and your ID proof(carry originals too) they will give you a form like the one below.Mention the sender name as on RC and address which must be of a place in the same city as source station. The mention the receiver name and address and bike description with engine and registration number and unladen weight as on RC.After that declare the value of the bike. Note: minimum the declared value lesser the Transportation cost ( declare near about 10–20k if the bike is already insured).Get the bike packed by porters outside the office after emptying the tank. They will charge you around 300. Do bargain for Rs 200. Don't forget to take receipt which is a mandate at receiving station.At the receiving station go to inward parcel office with receipt. Check your bike and get the receipt stamped by the officer there. Then he will guide you to gate pass issue counter where you need to pay parking charge if any (Rs 10/hr after 6 hrs of bike arrival at destination station). Once the gate pass is issued you need to get it verified by the same inward parcel officer and then you are good to go.
Is it illegal to carry liquor for personal use across state borders in India?
Police in India make up their own laws. I've carried liquor into ooty over a dozen times from blore. It is pointless to argue with them even if you know Tamil. They will just cite some vague rules and waste your time and act righteous.These cops who stand by the roads are not there to control or monitor traffic, but to extort money from whosoever they can. They collect Rs 10–50 from every goods truck driver too (they search and delay them otherwise).They were actually looking for a Rs 200 bribe, if that's not enough throw in an extra bottle of cheap KF beer for them (I always carry one as “sacrifice” for the more expensive alcohol in case police create such issues).
