What happens when an eBay buyer doesn't pay?

If buyer hasn't yet paid for the item they bought you should contact the buyer to try and resolve the issue. If you're a high volume seller, you can automate how you manage unpaid items using Unpaid Item Assistant. If you just sell occasionally or you haven't yet set up Unpaid Item Assistant, here's what you can do if a buyer doesn't pay:Get in touch with the buyer to find out why they haven't paid. On the 5th day, you can close the case by going to the Resolution Center and selecting Close case. If a buyer doesn't have paypal on eBay, how do I get paid?

I just sold an item on eBay and it is a first for me. I'm not sure if the buyer has a paypal account and I have no clue how to check. If the buyer does not have paypal, how will I be paid? If the buyer des have paypal, same question. Oh, and I am not sure if I have to send the item right away because I have not been paid. I don't want to get jipped. I need serious help, thanks.

EBay buyer doesn't pay?

Unfortunately, eBay protects buyers much more than sellers.

I would send one very polite reminder. After that, you can open an unpaid item case in the Resolution Center as early as 4 days after the sale and up until 32 days after the sale.

The buyer then has 4 days to pay. If they don't pay within those four days, be sure to close the case so that you'll get your seller's fees back. If you don't close within 36 days, you can't get them back and you'll pay fees on an item that you weren't even paid for.

Here's a link that might help you: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/unpaid-i...

Be sure not to re-list the item until you've closed the case.

ADDITIONAL INFO: For future reference, eBay's Answer Center is a good place to get answers to questions on selling problems.

Can I take a business loss if I sell my business and the buyer doesn't pay?

This is extremely complicated. See a professional.

When you sell a business, you sell assets and goodwill. You were supposed to fill out a form 8594 and attach it to your tax return. This was based on your original sale. Assets like inventory would then use the 8594 value to finish up the schedule C. Amounts over and above the assets would have been goodwill and would have been reported on schedule D.

If you buyer had bought in 2009, you reported all of the gain in 2009 and then got stiffed in 2010, you would do a correcting entry or entries on schedule D for the bad debt (provided you could prove it was now worthless). Since you sold in 2010 and got stiffed in 2010, you can treat this as an installment sale and then do the correcting entry (see IRS publication 537).

As a buyer, how does our realty agent get paid?...out of our pockets?

Usually the buyer does not pay out of pocket for the agent. If you have a Buyer's Agent contract check the contract. You want to know this:
Do you pay the 3% only if the selling agnet does not provide for the buyers agent to get paid.

The reason I would put a request for payment in a Buyer's Agnet contract is to be sure that if you looked at a fsbo and bought it I would still get paid. Most listings in an MLS provide payment for a buyer's agent. (New York)

But you should check the wording of the contract. If unclear ask the agent.

How do I get the payment on Mercari when a buyer hasn't rated me yet?

Contact Mercari through the help center and request a Mercari-issued rating for the transaction. Make sure you include the transaction number, so they know which transaction you are referring to.If the item was not marked delivered through the tracking number or the buyer has a complaint, you are not permitted to have Mercari rate you until the issue is addressed. If you don’t include a tracking number, you won’t get your money because there is no way to prove the order was delivered.

Buyer paid for item on Ebay, and hasn't picked it up at the post office. The post office is going to return it soon. I don't offer refunds, and the buyer hasn't responded to me. What should I do?

There are lots of reasons this might have happened, ranging from your customer dying, being in the hospital, traveling, using an old address, being lazy, or trying to become a deadbeat buyer. The best approach is to wait for the package to be returned to you, then use eBay messaging to contact the Buyer and offer to reship it upon payment of a new shipping and handling fee. While your policy may be no refunds/returns, it is quite likely that you’ll end up losing an eBay dispute, PayPal dispute, or credit card chargeback for the sole reason that the Buyer never received the item (regardless of the reason). You can/should fight any such dispute, including any info you have about messages you sent, etc. and if you lose such a dispute, you should report the Buyer and appeal the decision, but understand it might not go your way. If you’ve used eBay messages for the communication, you should at least be able to get your eBay fees refunded, though.Best of luck.

Do you still get charged on ebay if your item sells but the buyer doesn't pay?

Its been 5 days that someone bought one of my items on ebay but he hasn't paid for it yet. I tried several times to send him an invoice but I always get the same message:

The following critical errors have occurred:
A system error has occurred. Please try again

I haven't tried to contact him yet but Im afraid he won't respond. Is it possible to cancel this item and to relist it? and does ebay charge a final value fee in this case?

Paypal Buyer Credit Account Question?

Okay, so I got accepted for a Paypal Buyer Credit. As soon as I got the email, I used it and bought something. I went to the Paypal Buyer Account site and it says my balance, but it doesn't say what my minimum payment is or when it is due. Plus I want to find out my account number and followed the directions from Paypal, but it only says the last 4 digits, not the whole account number. I also got an email from Paypal saying the 'welcome to paypal buyer credit' but it didn't say anything about my account number.
And I called Paypal Buyer Credit but the machine asked me for my account number and I didn't have it and I couldn't talk with a Rep.
Has anyone else have this kind of trouble before? Or am I worrying about nothing here?
