I Have Headaches Every Morning

Why do I wake up with headaches every morning?

I've seen quite a bit of posts about this but I'm still hoping someone out there will have new information.

The headaches started around 4 years ago when I was 27. A few things changed in my life during this time. I moved to a new place that I loved, I gained about 30 pounds and I also got new pillows for my bed.

I had gotten a sleep study done and found out that I have slight sleep apnea, just recently I've had my tonsils removed and a deviated septum repaired which I was told could have been contributing to my sleep apnea. My sleep apnea was not severe enough to have a machine. I also know that I have TMJ but I've had that for years and the headaches only just started 4 years ago.

Over the past couple of months I've lost 20 pounds, I have rearranged my pillows and my tonsils are gone but I'm still having this problem with waking up with headaches. Some mornings I'm so frustrated I just want to cry. The headaches most of the time go away after a while and sometimes they stick with me all day. I have no motivation to do anything. When I'm at home I don't want to cook or clean which are things I use to do with no problem. On the weekends I sleep in and and when I wake up I just lay around the house. My kids want to play with me and go and do things but I have no desire to do anything at all. I wake up and I get anxiety about going to work. While at work sometimes I'm really stressed out or depressed. I feel overwhelmed a lot of the time. I feel like my life is slowly being drained out of me and I have no desire to do anything at all. I'm so tired of feeling like this but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg trying to figure out what it is. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to fill me in.

I know that a lot of people might think it's depression and I'm sure that's part of it, my life is hectic and my husband and I have fights sometimes. But, I do want to do things, I've always been the type of person to be on the go all of the time and go out and have fun. Not only that, I've always been a top notch employee, volunteerig all of the time to work more hours. That is until these headaches started. I feel like I'm not the same person anymore, I don't know what to do.

Why do i wake up with a headache every morning?

The muscles you sleep on, your neck muscles, are causing your headaches. They go to the top of your head and when they are tight at the top they pull on other muscles to surround your brain with pain, your headache. To get rid of the headache you have to free up the muscles in your neck and here's how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

I wake up tired with a headache every morning?

This happens to me too. I found a couple of reasons why I wake up with a headache in the morning. Here are my tips:

1) Don't eat right before bed
2) Don't eat foods high in salt, sugar, or fat right before bed.
3) Don't drink alcohol in the evening
4) Make sure you had enough water during the day

Most likely you are waking up dehydrated because of what you ate or drank that day. If you still get headaches in the morning after watching the above, I would stretch before bed and make sure you are sleeping on your back (sometimes if you sleep on your side or on your stomach you can hurt your neck).

I bet if you try those things you won't wake up with a headache anymore!

Why do I have headaches every Saturday morning?

It depends on the type of headache. If it goes away quickly, it's probably from oversleeping. Our bodies are not made to accommodate irregular sleeping patterns, thus when we stay up late, and then sleep in longer than normal, our regular pattern is disrupted. We then suffer occasionally with a headache. You might try setting your Saturday wake-up time to be the same as weekdays. You also might try changing your pillow if this continues.

Why do i wake up with headaches in the morning?

Hello, two of the most common causes of headaches while people sleep are 1. the positioning of their head on the pillow. Make sure your head isn't tilted upwards too much. This can often cause terrible lasting headaches. 2. The second, and maybe more common cause of headaches in the morning is bruxism (teeth grinding at night). Sounds weird to think that you might be grinding your teeth at night, but it is actually quite common! If you have good dental insurance, there are dental appliances that you can use while you sleep to protect your teeth and reduce the headaches. If this is not a feasible option, you can try sleeping with a mouthguard. I have tried this in the past, but somehow always managed to spit it out in the middle of the night. It can also be somewhat uncomfortable and bulky in your mouth until you get used to it.

Where are your headaches typically? With bruxism, I will typically see patients with headaches on the sides and back of their heads.

Good luck, and I hope that this helps!

Sincerely.

Why do I get headaches every day?

For quite a few months now, I have been getting headaches quite regularly. Sometimes it is just a really, really painful, unbearable one and that is all I get all week. But mostly I'm just getting normal headaches about once a day, maybe every 2 days.
Also when I get out of bed in the morning, everything goes blurry and I black out for about 2-3 seconds before it clears. It's the worst when I first get up, but if I sit down or lie down for a while then get up the same thing happens. I have to be lying down usually for about 30 minutes minimum for this to happen.
About a year and a half ago I was in hospital for a week with orbital cellulitus and I had sinus probelms for about 6 months after that - I was on antibiotics for a few months. All that has gone now though and I'm 98% sure this is nothing to do with my sinuses.
These headaches don't have anything to do with my period because they are happening all the time.
I usually don't eat breakfast but if I do (which is about twice a week) I have a yoghurt and banana smoothie. For lunch I have a roll with lettuce and tomato on it and sometimes a cookie or chocolate or soft drink (eek I know, unhealthy). For after noon tea I have usually maybe like 3 biscuits or something to that extent. For dinner I always have a healthy dinner, something different almost every night (my parents are very into gourmet cooking) with meat every night. I don't usually have dessert.
I am 14, which is young yes but please don't give me some bullshit like it's because I'm growing - I haven't grown for about a year, so I have stopped.
I don't do much excerise, I go on a 30km bike ride every Saturday and that is it.
Another thing I would like to know about (not sure if this is related to the headaches) but why is I am always very very tired when I get home from school each day and feel I could sleep for hours and hours. Sometimes ( I try not to) if I don't have homework or assignments (ver VERY rarely) I fall asleep at 4:30 and wake up at 7:30 but go back to sleep at about 9 and wake up at 7 the next morning, still feeling like I could sleep for longer. I haven't always had this, this tiredness has only started in the last 2 months.
Why is it that I'm always tired and getting headaches about every 2 days, sometimes every day??

I am getting headaches on one side of my head every morning regularly these days. What is the cure?

Headache on one side usually resembles migraine... But headache occurring only after you wake up may be due to any other cause like sinusitis etc... Or it may be related to your sleep... Try having more sound sleep or having a soft pillow coz these factors also sometimes causes headache... If you have a runny nose or rhinitis, it is more likely to be sinusitis... Try consulting a doctor and get medication... Home remedies like steam inhalation also helps sometimes... If headache persists for 6-8 hours or even more it is likely to be migraine...

What could be causing me to wake up with a headache every morning?

That's a good question for your doctor. If you are waking up with a headache every morning, and it bothers you enough to ask questions of strangers on the Internet, you should ask your doctor. My body part is (sore|swollen|red|oozing blood|obstructed|etc). What should I do? by John Buginas on Critical ThinkingDon't overthink your health problems! by John Buginas on Critical ThinkingIt could be one of many things, like dehydration, blood pressure, caffeine withdrawal, reaction to medication, uncomfortable sleeping positions, exercise or lack of exercise, or any number of benign or serious conditions. Nobody but a doctor who knows or can take your medical history can advise you on ways to stop the headaches.

Why do some people wake up with a headache in the morning?

I know why I wake with up with headaches occasionally. There are various trigger points in the muscles of the neck and upper back, these sometimes get aggravated if I sleep in certain positions, and can cause headaches when I wake up. Picture taken from: 'The trigger point therapy workbook,' 2nd edition, Clair Davies. If this happens to you, I would highly recommend buying this book, it tells you how to massage these points and relieve the tension, it really works!

I dream too much, and it makes me have headache in the morning?

Hey, it could quite possibly have nothing to do with psychological causes.

With sleeping, it is suggested that individuals get 8 hours of sleep in order to successively transfer through each stage of sleep several times before one wakes up. Also, try to go to sleep before 12. This is a concept known as "Circadian Rhythm." I can't really remember too much about it but look it up if you want. It is the idea that certain organs in our body take 24 hours to go through it's biological behavioural processes - also known as the "Human Clock.' Sleep much also be routine and but there are no adverse long term effects if one misses an excessive amount of sleep.

Dreams are the mind's way of consolidating (fortifying) memories and information within the brain that was learned during the day - At least, that's one proposition. Another theory is that we dream of our inner most desires (Freud) and another theory is that dreams are just a random sequence of events caused by a transmission of waves from what I think is the spine.

When you dream, your brain emits a similar set of brain waves that are much like those when you are awake, except the only difference is that you're not awake and you can't move. So, from a theoretical point of view, the heightened brain activity MAY cause headaches.

Anyway, my point being, it may depend on the content of your dreams or as someone else said, what you think about before and/or after. If you're a stressed individual then your mind may be cluttered which is reflected within your dreams which is then subconsciously giving you headaches.

A different approach to all of this is your hair! I know, it sounds silly, but I have big hair and I find that, when I get a haircut, my head feels a lot lighter during the day and when I wake up.

Finally, you could be dehydrated. Either that or a nutritional thing. Make sure you drink 6 to 8 glasses of water. The minimum being 2Literss but that's apparently how much the body uses in a day so you want to stay slightly above it. I've always attempted to drink two 1.25litere bottles of water in a day but it's a lot of work and hard when you're always busy. Moisturizer on the face may help with dryness but I'm not sure about headaches.

Ok, so look into your psychological well being, your hair for that matter too and your health - nutrition and hydration.
