HELP! I got terrible grades in my GCSE examinations?

First of all, don't worry. GCSE's mean very little in the real world. Richard Branson left school at 15 with no qualifications and Alan Sugar the same, and look at them now.

Second, you can go to college to re-do your GSCE's. Most offer GCSE re-take courses in at least English, Maths and Science. Once you've got them, you've got a better chance of being able to do A Levels or a GNVQ.

Thirdly, you can go for a Youth Training Scheme, that will train you for a professional, career-orientated qualification. I used to work with someone who got bad GCSE's, went on a YTS scheme and now has a great career as a photographer.

Also, you could also look into a more manual based apprentiship, like in mechanics or engineering if you're interested in anything like that.

If there are any professions that you are interested in working in, phone, write, email and generally pester appropriate businesses asking for work experience. It will be unpaid but you will find bosses value experience over qualifications any day. Trust me, I'm a student journalist, I have a good degree, but no one cared - they wouldn't give me a job until I had experience.

I'd suggest you re-take a couple of GCSE's at college, think about what you'd like to do as a job and try and get work experience. Or the YTS if you already have an idea about what you want to do and they run an apporpriate course.

Get yourself down to your local careers advice centre, they should be able to run over your options with you in more detail.

Please don't be frightened, this isn't the end of the world.

its honestly not that bad (its a pass) but i agree that it could be much better.
be honest with your parents - they will find out in the end and be more angry.
tell them you are worried, and that you re going to try very hard to take the grade up as much as possible.
its not the end of the world - just try your hardest to improve next time!
good luck!

Horrible grades first semester of junior year, do I have any chance of going to college...? 10 pts!?

Okay, I used to be a really great student. Always enrolled in every honors class possible, and ap courses. Lots of extra curricular activities, dance captain, dance outside of school. I had a 3.76 gpa cumulative, but after first semester of junior year it will probably drop to from a 3.3 or 3.5. I got my first D this year, I might even have two, I'm not sure because grades haven't been finalized yet but I calculated it out to where I could only receive the highest of a D. I moved to a new school this year, hardest shift of my life and it's also a very prestigious high school and the kids here are brilliant. There are 8th graders who apparently got a 2300 on the SAT... I think this is a very big factor as to why I'm near failing my classes. I'm just so worried about college right now, I wanted to go to a UC school but that's just out of the question. Will UW even accept me? What colleges do you recommend?
Part of me has lost motivation for college because I'm very interested in the arts and I want to just go to auditions, I'm a dancer/singer/piano player/guitar player/clarinet, but college is probably a good idea so I have something to fall back on.

Thanks so much for reading and helping me out (:

I suck at biology...help =( (9th grade)?

You are correct to pinpoint your problems. Unfortunately, at this time it exists with Biology which is very important when you are interested in medicine.

Here are some study suggestions.

1. Have all of your materials ready and in the place that you are going to study.

3. Study when its quiet. No music, no TV, No headphones, no nothing.

4. Do your most difficult subject fist or else you may never get to it.

5. Keep a calendar so that you know when a project is due or a test is going to be given.

6. Vocabulary is very important. Words have different meanings. You need to know the meaning for the subject that you are taking.

7. Study the relationship of things. How is the topic that you studied related to the unit that you are studying?

8. Your textbook has hints for you. Many books have important words or phrases in darkened or colored type, make sure that you know them thoroughly.

The sites below are excellent and will give you many other ideas about studying.

How do I tell my parents about bad grades?

Last year my sister hid her and my report card from my mom. My uncle came over the next week and my mom started talking about how bad I’ve been and how I hid my report card (i didn’t). I told them that didn’t, but of course, no one believed me. I knew where my sister hid the report cards so I went upstairs to retrieve them. Then my mom started lecturing me about my bad grades. I had one C, and she knew how much I put to get it there. Our teacher wasn’t the best, and it was hard to get a C. But, of course, my mom didn’t care and started to complain about how I never do my work (I spent around 3 hours doing my homework on weekdays). I was so upset because no one believed me and no one understood how much stress I was going through. I was looking down at my hands the whole time and every time I looked at my mom I gave her the occasional stink eye. I also shot a few at my uncle for believing her. Because of my stink eyes, I guess he believed my mom’s lies of me being a disrespectful kid. I was so angry because no matter how hard I tried, people were still expecting more from me.My sister had a D but of course, no one said anything about that.If your parents aren’t like this, then I think you should tell them as soon as you get your results, but if they’re like mine, then don’t.It’s a good thing I never told her what I got on my finals. (25%)(sorry this was long I like to rant)

Please help...Due to bad grades, my parents are depressing me and hurting me. I feel like killing my self...?

Wow seems like you are going through a hard time. If your parents are beating you to the point that they are leaving marks on you, I would talk about it with a school counselor. I think once you are in the system they can move you to another state or a location where your parents will never know where you are unless you want them too. But just so you know from the way you've handled this situation shows your not stupid, there are a lot of people who became successful in life that didn't do well in school like Eminem, Hopsin, Albert Einstein, Ozzy Osbourne. I think you should forget what your parents have to say because they probably feel like low lives who have nothing going for the them and you know how misery loves company. But I think if its a reading problem I think you should ask your teacher for these things called overlays, they seemed to help me somewhat in school. By the way I know what its like to grow up in a broken house hold and what got me through was rap music, it may sound silly but writing my own and listening to artists who have been through the same thing, helped me channel my rage and eventually, I felt better. Best of luck.
