I Have Lost Rc Book Of My Scooter

I have lost my R.C. book of bike. How do I get duplicate? What is procedure for the same?

Its pretty simple.Report it at the nearest police station as lost. Take a copy of the FIR to either a tout at the RTO or you can go find out by asking people, where to find a form for the duplicate RC book, fill it, submit it, You will be given a receipt of request.Sit with that till it finally reaches your home by post.Using the tout method may cost you an extra Rs. 400-500 but everything would be taken care of.

How do I get a duplicate RC book if I have lost original? The owner of the two wheeler is not available in country. This is in Thane, Maharashtra.

Go to an Agent. That’s all I can say. The RTO system is an evil mess. The rules and sheer number of forms/paperworks beats the Income tax department also!If the vehicle is not in your name, the owner would be required - unless the agent can get it done based on his “contacts”. Just like driving licenses. It would help if you have a xerox copy at least of the original RC.

Shifting from BLR to MUM, lost my bike RC, I do not have time to go to the Yeshwanthpur RTO, since I am in Mumbai. Can I sell my bike without RC or can any agents help me to get out the RC?

You lost your bike RC, but do you have the Smart Card ? If you have, go to the RTO office with an application and an identity proof stating the reasons. The RTO should authorize you for a new RC. If the RTO authorize, than go to the designated counter and deposit a nominal fee, around Rs. 50/- maybe and hand over the Smart Card at the counter. They will print a RC of your vehicle and will hand over both the RC and the Smart Card to you. Get the RC signed from the RTO and now you have the RC.If you have nothing, then simply make an Affidavit and submit it to the RTO along with an application and requisite forms and deposit the necessary fees at the counter and a new RC and Smart card will be delivered to your address within 15–20 days.Agents may be helpful, but they will charge a hefty amount for that.Btw, You can sell your vehicle without RC, if anyone is willing to take it without the RC. But, as you are selling the vehicle, you have to go to the RTO or else the Transfer of the vehicle is not possible.
