I Have Minor Belly Fat. Exercise Tips

If i do ab exercises will i lose belly fat?

It depends on the type of ab excercises you are doing.

If you do regular things like simple crunches, you're more prone to build the mucles underneath, and do nothing else.

Leg raises and knee-ups will be better for you, because not only will they help you gain core strength, they will increase your heartrate. Increasing your heartrate is what will burn calories, therefore burning fat.

If you really need to lose some weight, My suggestion would be do a minor cardio program to start, and increase the difficulty as you go. If its the stomach area you're looking for specifically, maybe try a cardio program, and incorporate some ab workouts. Don't forget to work all of the muscles, instead of just your crunching ones! Good Luck!

Eat only when you are hungry. Identify when you are most hungry in a day and have your meal accordingly. If you cannot identify then following are the universal timings for you to have your meals. a) 10:00 am - 7:00 pm b) 1 :00 pm - 9 pm. It will take a week's - 15 days time for your body to get used these timings. How to lose belly fat?

A diet to get a flat stomach can be highly effective. There are many ways to lose weight specifically in the mid section of the body.
•Eat healthier and cut down junk food, such as replacing sweets and chips with fruits.
•Eat smaller meals a day. To get a flat stomach you should eat many small meals throughout the day. Eat just enough until you feel full; don't overeat and know which flat-belly foods actually work
•Eating raw foods are to avoid the loss of enzymes that result from cooking food, which also decreases its nutritional value. Raw food, unlike cooked and processed foods, takes longer to digest so you feel full longer some of the best raw foods are: Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumbers Dark leaf lettuce, Onions and Tomatoes.
•Add stomach exercises to your workout. Simple exercises such as sit-ups, basic abdominal crunches and turn around abdominal crunches can contribute toward that curved flat stomach you need.

How do I get rid of my belly fat?

Summary version at very bottom. Wall of text:

About October of 2007, I started to exercise doing a 10,000 walking program. At the time, I weighed in 208 pounds, which is a HUGE amount considering my age at the time; despite my height at 5'9, I was only 13 going on 14. For three days a week I used this program, and then I worked up to five days a week, and eventually seven. After three months I was down already to 173.

After another four months I moved onto running, first for thirty minutes a day, then forty minutes a day, then forty minutes with incline, then recently back down to forty minutes with reduced incline. By the time the one year anniversary passed, I was down to 155.

SUMMARY, AND CONTINUATION OF ABOVE: Fast forward to today, and I'm still at 155. I've still got a belly fat problem. I still run at 40 minutes per day, but I think it's the diet that's killing me; I might need to further change my diet. Any tips?

Gaining stomach fat while exercising?

I have begun to do frequent exercising, but I find myself not gaining weight, but my stomach sticking out more than it normally has. I was just wondering if this was normal or if it's something else.

Will sit ups help u lose belly fat, and also should u be feeling cramps in ur stomach muscles the next day?

You cannot target an area for fat loss. The fact that your abdominal muscles are sore simply means that they are not used to actually having to work, and you shocked them by doing sit-ups. Working the muscles under that fat does not make that fat go away any faster than working any other muscle. You lose stomach fat the same way you lose fat in any other part of the body, by burning more calories than you consume, or building muscle to replace the fat as you maintain your weight.

Doing sit-ups is better than sitting in front of the TV only because you are moving, which burns more calories than not moving, but it is not nearly as good as walking, running, riding a bicycle, lifting weight, or even golfing.

For aerobic exercise, using more, larger muscles to complete an exercise burns more calories.
For strength training, using more, larger muscles to lift more weight, builds more muscle.

Your abdominals are one, small muscle group. Get the point?

How to lose belly fat without losing all over weight?

First, let me congratulate you for trying, striving, and putting in the efforts to get a bikini bod at age 40 AND for not allowing past injuries or illnesses to be an excuse and prevent you from your goals.

Second, you may have heard the saying "abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym"...well, that is partially true. You can do all the crunches you want but unless you are burning the fat on top no one is ever going to know. The way to burn the fat is interval training and good eating.

Try this for exercise:
I would go in this order (as you get in better shape)

- Zuzana's youtube site (not a DVD but has daily workouts...she has one of the best female bodies i've ever seen and her workouts are great http://www.youtube.com/user/charliejames...
- P90x
- Insanity...google it, get it. This is the most intense workout ever put on tape

- Eating and stomach (abs)
You can (and should) eat 5-6 semi-small nutritious meals...speeds up your metabolism and prevents you from being too hungry. Don't load up with 'tons' of food and don't cut your calories to bare mininum (1K) as this slows down your metabolism.
You can try eating various things: fresh fruit, fish, tuna, chicken, quinoa, brown rice, broccoli, beef jerky, whey protein shake, applesauce (no sugar added), spinach, kale, baked squash, other veggies, lean ground turkey, turkey sausages, Low sugar protein bars (or try Kashi bars). Oh, and substitute any junk food with Odwalla bars (the choco. chip ones are fabulous and have 8 grams of protein).
If you eat ~7 a.m. ~10 a.m. 1p.m. 4 p.m. 7p.m. (and 10 p.m. if you're up late you should be great (make sure you're last 'meal' is mostly protein). Get your excercise/workout in b/w any of those meals (or directly prior)
You don't need many weights or machines. You can get one of those ab balls online or at a Target/Wal-mart for like $10-$15. Do abs using the ball...always works your core. Also get some resistance bands and you can work your legs (outer thighs) as well. Go for a run or do some sprints to get in better shape. Pick up some sports/activities with your friends.
- Oblique exercises (twisting - works your 'love handles'). Do a lot of these using the ab ball: sit on the ball hold a 10 lb weight and walk your feet forward. 'Lay down' and with the weigh above you twist to one side-up-pause-twist to the other side. Ensure you're using your obliques to do the work.
