I Have My Dahlias Pierced Will They Close

How Long Does The Swelling in the Dahlia Piercing Go Down?

Basically on Thursday last week, (today being Tuesday) I got my dahlias peirced. My piercer also said that the intense swelling should be down by Saturday-Sunday. And it's still severely swollen.
I need a few tips with this, because I'm really temped to take them out and I absolutely love these piercings.

Do dahlia piercings hurt?

I'm getting them in about a month or so, I really really want them but they look like they would hurt if I tried to smile, talk, laugh ect.
Also I have a monroe piercing and since Dahlia's are on the corner of your mouth do you think the backings of the piercings with get stuck to each other or clink together?
btw this is a dahlia piercing http://i37.tinypic.com/b6t204.jpg

How long can you leave dahlia piercings out?

It can take 1-3 months to completely heal depending on aftercare habits and you shouldn't remove or change your jewelry until its fully healed. You should probably wait until you have a few months to let them heal. If you don't wait though, there's a good chance they'll close up in those 3 hours and removing and replacing them will cause irritation, make you more susceptible to infection, and will prolong the healing time more and more every time you do.

How dangerous would it be if I pierced my OWN lip.(Dahlia Bites)?

If you're not a vet or an army medic or an RN in training, or a piercer yourself.....then you lack the essential training to do it safely. Crooked piercings are always a common risk with self done lip piercings, but the largest concern is contamination of a sterile field that can lead to raging face infection.

There's a reason why you need training for it, and rather expensive equipment. Autoclaves make things sterile. Things like alcohol or other cleaning products, boiling water, fire (actually fire makes things dirtier) only sanitize. When you're stabbing your flesh, you want totally clean, not mostly clean.

Mild infections are a very, very likely thing, and serious infections are possible. Crap like a horrible flesh eating virus is rare but possible. The money you save is not worth a crappy piercing that might lead to infection, you may end up spending more on medicine and doctor pills, not the mention the pain and the fact it can look pretty....not good.

I got my lip pierced almost a week ago, it's still sore, red around it, my skin is peeling all around it, and it's really itchy. Is that normal?

Like others have said. The mouth moves constantly so it takes a while for those piercing to heal. The soreness is expected. The redness means keep a good eye on it and the flaking and or peeling is completely normal. The skin in that area is trying to heal. My snakebite piercings will still sometimes peel after they get chapped, yes that also happens. Don’t use a high alcohol content cleanser inside your mouth. The mouth actually has good bacteria to promote healing and fight off invasive bacteria. Using too much of listerine or similar products will wipe out those good bacteria and irritate the new holes in your body. Remember it’s wounded flesh, you wouldn’t go pouring that in a cut 24/7 so don’t do it to your mouth. Wash your hands before touching anywhere near them and use antibacterial soap to clean them. Clear and white discharge are completely normal. Yellow and green are cause for concern as it most likely indicates infection. Tenderness should begin dying down soon and with it the redness that is a sign of it. The peeling has been a common thing for me over the last six years. No concerns there. And itching is a sign of healing. Which means you’re on the right track. Just be gentle and clean about them.

Are dahlia piercings really dangerous?

I have wanted to get dahlia piercings for a while now and aparently they are dangerous and it's hard to find someone who is willing to pierce them. I know they are dangerous since you have nodes in your face or something but are they really in the corners of your mouth? i know some people get them moved further away from their mouth but isn't that more dangerous?
and how noticeable are the holes when you take out the piercing?

Does anyone know about the dahlia piercing?

Piercing is a great beauty and style idea. Personally I think the dahlia piercing looks great on some people but not on others, like most other piercings. You could only pierce one side of your mouth and it would look great. One of my best friends did this and it looked really cool. Its always good to do something unique when it comes to piercing and tattoos.

I think eyebrow piercing is an even better idea then dahlia piercing. In fact it is definitely one of the safer face piercings. Just be careful when applying makeup or other facial products to not irritate the piercing or you could get an infection. Also you will always have to keep jewelry in because after you take it out, it only takes about a day for the hole to close.

Should I get snakebites or dahlia piercings? (Pics inside)?

My birthday is on the 6th of next month and I get to get piercings for my b-day, but I cannot decide if I want snakebites or dahlias, I love them both and think they are both cute but I have to pick 1! I started a poll on this and so far its 2 for dahlias and 1 for snakebites. Help me out! (And obviously this is my crappy photo editing and the actual piercings would be more straight.)

Cheek dimple piercing dahlia piercing help dangerous?10 points! help!?

They're not any more dangerous than any other, he probably didn't want to do them on you because it sounds as is you are a minor. Most shops will not do more unusual piercings on minors because of the scarring that they will leave behind. They think that minors can not be completely aware of the nature of what they're doing and how permanent the marks on the middle of their face will be. There are no 'glands' in the way, although it is fairly common for cheek piercings to leak when drinking or eating.

No, that's NOT false advertising, false advertising is where they say they will do X for Y price and then charge you more or give you something different and of lesser quality.
