I Have No Power In 5th Gear In My Honda Del Sol

05 Honda Civic ok to take on road trip? 2000+ miles?

I have a 95 yep 95 Honda Civic Del Sol and I take it on road trips all the time! Trust me it will be fine. The last trip I did was 5,000 round trip at that time it had 115,000 miles on it and honey it worked like a charm. Your Honda will last forever with a little love. However with that said I do have my car looked at before every road trip. Make sure your tires are fine make sure that the SPARE is fine. I know sounds silly but a lot of people forget about the spare. Make sure it has air in it. Have them check and top off all of your fluids, and be sure that they check the belts on the car. I would also suggest checking with your cell phone company and see if you have roadside assistance. I do not pay the monthly fee however I can call the cell company day or night and they will assist or send me help for a discount. Good to have on any road trip. Some people like to join AAA this is also a good idea it cost like $25 or something a year plus you get the benefit of maps and other things.

I also suggest putting an emergency kit and first aid kit in your car. You can either buy them or make one up. Include things like a flashlight, extra batteries, a screwdriver, some water and anything else you can think of that you might use on a car in an emergency. In the first aid kit have band aids, gauze, aspirin, Tums, and other things like that. Make sure you have a blanket; I know mom used to say that all the time but hey people do get stranded and well it is getting cold!
Other than that just make sure that everything is working right on the car, lights, windshield wipers ect. Make sure you have your insurance card and a copy of it. I would also have my oil changed before I go. Your car will be fine, trust me I don't think my Honda will ever die! Have a great trip!

Specs for Honda Del Sol . . .?

I'm thinking to get one and have found there are two versions.
A regular 4 cil and a V-tech. I'd like to know which other models from Honda share Del Sol's engine and tranny.
Thanks every body. . .

Why does my car jerk slightly when shifting into reverse?

all automatics do this. Regardless of gear the magnitude, the jerk is a function of drivetrain and suspension slop, clutch pressure and condition, clutch engagement setting, transmission fluid properties, idle speed. If the jerk is extreme and changes engine RPM by more than 100RPM, you certainly have a problem. beware, it’s easy to get either ripped off or spend heavily. Start by checking idle speed, then inspecting/changing fluid, then inspecting suspension. then check the transmission and drivetrain for slop, wear, damage, starting at a driveshaft shop.Your low mileage car could suffer from the hands of an abusive and jerky driver, a driver who spent long hours shearing transmission fluid stopped in traffic, or a transmission defect.Without mechanical service, you can reduce the jerk by not stepping on the brake as you change gears, and shifting to neutral every time you must idle for more than 20 seconds.

B series.. JDM, GSR.... what does it all mean?

B-Series is the engine series, honda also make other series including K-series, H-series, D-series etc, B-series are a high performance DOHC series.

JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market, so if a cars 'jdm' its a jap import, and 'jdm' parts are parts that are stock on the jap spec cars, or from japan. the jdm versions of cars, from civic's to skylines are usually more powerful than the european and american specs of the same cars.

the GSR is the integra GSR (acura), though you can get Mitsubishi evo GSR's and eclipse GSR's etc. the GSR engine, or B18C1 is a popular 170bhp engine. The JDM B18C is the better 195 bhp ITR engine.

The B-Series motors are sought after as they can be cheap, and are very good engines, they rev to over 8,000 rpm, some more, and put out around 100bhp per liter, the B16 has 160bhp, the CTR JDM B16B n/a 1.6 dohc has 185bhp...the crankshaft and cams are stock tuned/engineered to cope with aggressive driving and constant high revs, and they have VTEC, which includes variable valve timing for both the inlet and exhaust valves, rather than just inlet as on the SOHC D-series, and electronic cam lift control, for extra valve lift, and the head has additional oil feeds to help cool the pistons. They are very good, and extremely tuneable engines, a B16 can put out 400bhp + with enough parts, (with forced induction, not N/A!)

What should one do in their 20s to avoid regrets in their 30s and 40s?

Noticed something funny?People in their 30’s purchase a house on a massive loan. Why?So that when they do become old, they can live in it.So what they do is buy a house for a 30 year mortgage or loan and work their ass off for the next 30 years to pay for the loan.Funny thing is - they are working like a dog - spending their entire youth chasing, running and making - so that they can live in a house during their old age.Funny right? And they do not even think of the possibility that - maybe, just maybe - they may die before hand or that something may happen before that - which can change the entire course of their lives. So what these people and many others like them do is - live for the future.First and foremost - How do you know you will live until the age of 40? or 30?How do you know you may not die within 1 year? Next month? Next week? How do you know? The fact is - no one knows!Everyone likes to assume or believe they will live until the ripe old age of 75 or 100. It is nice to have an Optimism Bias but it is better to be practical and realistic. No one knows if you or I will live until the age of 30 or 40.And whatever advice I may give you today - may not be applicable in another few years. Why?Because you have changed, people have changed, the environment has changed and our world has changed.Given a planet where the technology changes every few weeks - you seriously want someone to give you advice for the next 10 years?Well - if you really want something worthwhile to keep in mind and heart….here would be the advice I would give.Live everyday as if it were your last day on the planet.Do everything that needs to be done - so that if you were to die tomorrow - you would live your life knowing - you have no regrets. That doesn’t mean live it recklessly or take a credit card and blow it out it completely. What I mean is - do those things money cannot buy and those things that do not hurt others. And live in a manner that is true to your value system. And where ‘living for the future goes’ - cross that bridge when it arrives.Remember - do not waste what you have right now - for hopes and anticipation for a future you have not seen and do not know if it will ever come. That is why what you have right now - is called “The Present”.Loy Machedo
