I Have Oral Problems For Months Pls Help.

I think I have gonorrhea? Please help!!?

Doesn't sound like gonorrhea. It is a pathogen and you do have an immune system to eliminate pathogens. However if you remain stressed out and scared about it, your immune system will most likely remain ineffective at eliminating the pathogen.

If you can put a little faith in your immunity, get a lot of extra sleep and drink plenty of pure water and watch a few funny movies or dumb no brainer shows so as not to worry about your condition, you will find your immune system can be quite effective. Sleep is critical, almost as critical as avoiding stress in order to heal as nature intended.

If you have trouble dealing with the fear and stress you should go to the doctor.

Gum problems?

For a while now I have had some discomfort in my gums. This escalated to a lot of bleeding when brushing and aching throughout the entire left hand side of my mouth. Suspecting gingivitis, I have been using a specific mouth wash to combat this - it has appeared to help. However, I still have some pain on the left hand side and now it seems to have moved to the bottom teeth at the front of my mouth. Here it appears the gums are eroding away and one or two teeth have little left. Also, I have today discovered what appears to be a large blister on the roof of my mouth behind the front teeth...

I am incredibly worried about this and I'm actually in Panama right now and cannot find a good dentist that speaks English so have absolutely no idea what to do.

A little extra info - I am a smoker. My last cleaning was 3 months ago.

If anyone has any idea as to what this is or what I can do, please let me know.

Sexual problems, please help?

Sexual intercourse can cause Herpes breakouts because of the friction and thrusting. That is why you are experiencing breakouts after sex.

There are medications to limit your breakouts and make them much less severe. Valtrex is a great medication out now that also decreases teh chance of spreading Herpes by 50%.

You also need to become as healthy as possible so your immune system can put the Herpes in a latent state. Take vitamins, exercise, eat healthy foods.

I have also heard that Lysine supplements helps to clear Herpes breakouts. Lemon balm is a topical cream that you can put on to make the blisters heal.

Good luck!

I'm having pain on a tooth months after root canal (and crown) was done. Is this normal?

As an experienced dentist myself, and having treated near about 200 patients requiring root canal therapy, I would like to answer your question.Your question suggests that you are having pain in the tooth that was root canal treated. This suggests that you can pinpoint the exact tooth that is painful. If it is so, then the problem is in the root canal treatment. However, if you cannot clearly point out the painful tooth and experiencing a generalized pain in that region of jaw, then chances are that the pain may be from the adjacent tooth/teeth.Taking into consideration that the pain is from the root canal treated tooth, there are chances that infection has started again in that tooth. No treatment is guaranteed. Treated cases do fail. Same rule applies for root canal treated teeth. In my experience i would say that following the best root canal treatment protocol yields you a success rate of 95% . That means in every 100 treated patients, 5 patients will have reinfection and pain. In these patients, root canal therapy is not successful. Having said so, there is nothing to fear. These teeth can be retreated. For re-treatment, exact cause should be looked for.I would suggest following possible causes for pain after root canal treatment particularly which occurred after few months. How was the root canal therapy done?Which technique was followed? Are all the canals of the root properly prepared?Have all the canals filled properly by gutta percha? Is any of the canal inadequately filled? Is any of the canal not filled? Are there any extra root canals that are yet to be explored? How is the coronal seal? What post obturation restoration was used? Was any filing instrument separated within the canal? Most commonly the pain is due to one of the above reasons. Either the root canals are not adequately filled or some extra canals are missed.Good news is that, such tooth most of the times can be treated and the pain resides immediately. So if you are experiencing pain months after root canal treatment, consult your dentist immediately and get it treated. It is important to say that please do not blame your dentist!!! He/she gives you the best treatment possible. Complications do happen. There are many cases where i treated the patients very good but they failed. This suggests that an extra effort is needed to treat that tooth again, after which everything will be solved!!

What would happen if I took my braces off after three months? Would my teeth return to how they were before, or would they end up looking worse?

Hey there! I wore braces in my teenage years, and every month for the first year I wanted to have them removed, but each time, my pediatric dentist said no - and for good reason, as it turned out. In my 5th month, I ran into a bad problem with my gums, so my pediatric dentist (s/o to the ever-patient, but unrelenting Dr. Gep and orthodontist Dr. Gawlik of Woodbridge Kids where I grew up in ) had to take off my braces to let my gums heal. It was bad, I can tell you that, and not only was the alignment of my teeth still uncorrected (their positions haven’t shifted as much as it had only been a few months since I had my braces on), but my teeth actually started to shift back to their old, crooked position. So yes, if that happened to me at 5 months, imagine what can happen in 3.I don’t think any good dentist will prescribe braces, let alone allow their removal just after 3 months, I think it’s for at least 8–10 months. If you’re having oral care/health issues, consult your dentist. Only severe problems like mine required temporary removal. If anything, removing your braces this early will make the treatment useless. But it’s going to pay off in the long run; trust me, I capitalize on my now straight and nice teeth and smile to earn a living.

Wisdom tooth/jaw problem?

The periodic swelling and tenderness in the soft flap of gum covering your wisdom tooth is an inflammatory condition called pericoronitis. It is caused by all the dirty things that gets caught underneath that flap of gum.

Just have your wisdom tooth extracted and you will never get pericoronitis there ever again.

As far as your jaw joint goes, that bump you see moving is called your condyle. When you open or close your jaw, the condyle slides forward (when opening) and backward (when closing) in the articulating fossa in your skull. The condyle is part of your lower jawbone, and some people do have prominent condyles that are visible as a moving bump under your skin. Unless you are getting wierd grinding noises in your jaw joint, I wouldn't worry about your jaw joint. Get your wisdom tooth taken care of because your pericoronitis seems to be the immediate problem.

Hope this helps.

Is it possible for periodontal disease to spread from a tooth to another? What causes plague to form on tooth?

My son brushes his teeth regularly, twice a day. Last December, his dentist told him that he has periodontal disease in his gum.
This may be due to his oral hygience as he was unprepared for his cleaning kit when he was asked to work till the next day. It was about 10 months ago and is it too late to undergo treatment?? Can periodontal disease spread from a tooth to another? It was so unfortunate for him to have caught the disease, and what causes plague to form on the tooth/gum?? How to prevent it??

Can anyone please kindly advise as soon as possible. Thank you very much.

How do I treat my dry mouth? I’ve been suffering for 3 months already?

What is Dry Mouth:Your mouth needs saliva to be able to work properly. Saliva keeps your mouth moist, and it helps to break down your food and helps you to consume. It also acts as a cleaner. It is constantly washing around your mouth and teeth, fighting tooth decay and helping to keep your teeth clean. Dry mouth or xerostomia is a disease which affects the flow of saliva, causing your mouth to feel dry.Why Dry Mouth:Dry mouth can be a sign of many different problems and can happen as you get older. Quite often it is a side effect of medication - especially the heart, blood pressure and depression tablets. Your doctor, pharmacist or dental team should be able to tell you whether your medication can cause problems. Dry mouth can also be caused by medical treatments such as radiotherapy, or surgery to the head or neck.In some cases, dry mouth can be a direct result of a medical condition (for example diabetes, lupus, Sjogren's syndrome and blocked salivary glands). How to Prevent:Unfortunately, there seems to be no way of actually preventing the problem, although there are products to ease the symptoms. You can alter the causes using some products. There are a number of products designed to help your mouth stay moist and comfortable. These are usually gels or sprays. Some have extra ingredients which may help prevent tooth and gum problems. There are also special products to help with your day-to-day oral hygiene (for example toothpaste and mouth rinses). Drink more water, always keep your mouth moist. Don't forget to consult with your dentist regularly. For more health-related problems, please visit: Health's Guardian
