I Have Posted Comments On Certain Articles And When I Try To Remove Some Of Them They Keep Coming

How does the NYT determine which articles have comments?

The vast majority of NYT comments are handled by a human moderator. This means that we have to make an editorial decision about which comment threads we will open for comments each day. Also, we adhere to a sort-of "slow moderation" theory, which posits that the best way to respect the commenting efforts of our readership is to ensure that their comments exist in an urbane, literate environment. (Definitely not an approach that is good for everyone, but it works fabulously for us, for reasons you can probably divine.) Our goal is to have every NYT comment thread offer tangible added value to each article for our readership. The costs to this approach are obvious -- it takes a long time, and many stories do not get comments. But NYT readers expect the highest-quality everything from us, so that's what we deliver. To answer the root of your question, these are our general criteria for opening a story for comment, generally in order of importance:   News value of the story  Projected reader interest in the story  Have we recently had comments on this issue?  Whether we can moderate the projected # of comments in a timely fashion.

Why does yahoo delete my comments on news articles?

I hear you. The ol' "What's good for the goose is good for the gander" does not apply around here. You get someone who is just a little too "sensitive" who reads your comment and it doesn't jive with their beliefs, they report you for abuse and your comment goes bye-bye. It's bull, I know.

Some of my Yahoo comments won't delete. How do I remove comments? The "X" doesn't work.?

Assuming you are referring to your questions and answers.Once resolved or in voting you can't delete them.
To delete a question while it's still open, go to the question, click the edit pencil icon in the toolbar below your question, click Delete Question.
If you are too late. All you can do is hope it is reported as a violation even resolved questions can be removed that way, or you could try emailing the YA team y_answrs_team@yahoo.com
explaining as to why it (they) should be deleted,. however Yahoo will only delete questions if they violate the community guidelines or reveal personal contact information (e.g. email address, full name, phone numbers, address etc). Check the link.

Why did Yahoo remove comments section?

Why would Yahoo! remove the comments section from the bottom of their articles? That was the only reason that I even read their news. Most of the articles were written very poorly, but the comments were the only reason worth reading the articles. What was the driver for this decision? I am guessing this will cost them big time with traffic.

How to delete comments on yahoo news article?

It can't be removed totally. When you click the X to remove your comments from the Yahoo news, your comments are just deleted from public viewing or other commenters on any particular Yahoo news article. Try to access your Yahoo account > go to settings > edit profile, see if it works.

Why does YAHOO censor comments posted on news stories?

It is becoming painfully obvious that YAHOO is censoring the comments posted on its news stories.

The most egregious example was a recent story about the NAVY SEALS who were acquitted for allegedly beating an Iraqi detainee. Most commentators agreed with the verdict, but there were a few dissenters. Since YAHOO lists the comments on a first-come-first-post basis, the page 1 comments can be easily followed. Page 1 comments on this story were about 8:1 in favor of the verdict vs. questioning it. Then something strange happened. After a few days, all comments on page 1 questioning the decision were removed. Now only comments applauding the verdict and calling the SEALS heroes remain.

Regardless of how I feel about this particular case, I find it disheartening to discover that YAHOO is stifling debate. Is this a business decision (if so, it is a bad one as people are not stupid and will defect to sites where both sides of issues can be argued) or is it individual employees doing it out of some false sense of patriotism?

This is happening with virtually every YAHOO news story. Go check out page 1 of the comments and see how many people are replying to comments that are no longer posted. Someone suggested that if enough people vote "thumbs down" for a comment, it will be removed. However, this does not seem to be the case, as these comments become "hidden" rather than completely erased.

So what gives?
