I don't understand weight watchers?

Well, I haven't been on weight waters myself, but my grandma has been on it for 8 years so i know quite a bit about it lol. The points thing can be kind of confusing, but to put it in simple terms, this is how it works: You're allowed to consume 27 points each day. NO MORE than 27, and you shouldn't try to eat much less either. Every food has a points value. For example a piece of weight watchers bread ( you can buy the weight watchers brand ) has 1 or 2 points. Fruit and vegetables has 0 points. So if you ate a piece of weight watchers bread with like a cut up piece of fruit on it, you would have 25 points left.

I don't know how many points EVERY food has, but i do know some. Bread: 1-2 points per slice. Fruit and vegetables: 0 points. A piece of pizza would be about 7 points depending on the kind of pizza. A bagel is about 7 points. That's all the foods i know, just random foods my grandmother has told me about haha. You can buy all kinds of foods in weight watchers brand that only have like 2 points in them. Such as cookies, cakes, breads, ice cream, and all sorts of snack foods and meals. You can buy a calculator thingy that calculates the points value in all sorts of foods. Basically for weight watchers, You limit the amount of refined carbs, greasy and unhealthy foods you eat and eat mostly fruits and vegetables because they have no points and you can eat as much of them as you want. Weight watchers does work, incase you were wondering, it worked for my grandma and she still uses it to maintain her weight.

I don't understand why I can't lose weight?

I am female, 5'2 and weigh approximately 183lb's. I'm about a size 14/16 (US)

I do work in an office setting. I work from about 7:30am-4:00pm Monday-Friday.
I am fairly active. Hike, swim, camp, canoe ect in the spring, summer and fall.
Like most people, I'm less active during the winter months. However, I still get some exercise daily.

I walk my dog every evening after work (rain or shine) approximately 1-2 hours every day.
(One of the few requirements in owning a Jack Russell Terrier)

I'm a creature of habit so I eat the same thing 95% of the time. I do very very very little snacking and I don't drink soda.

This is generally what I eat every day (I eat approximately every 1-3 hours)
7:00-1 Tablespoon of peanut butter (I heard some place you should start your day off with healthy fat/protein)
8:30-Small bowl of Kashi Go Lean cereal with soy milk
10:30- Apple
12:30- Kellogg Fiber Plus Granola Bar
2:00- Sandwich (Wheat bread, Cracked Black Pepper Turkey and Lettuce-no condiments) and 8 baby Carrots
4:00- Luna Bar (generally Nut's over Chocolate)
5:00- Orange
6:00- 16 Almonds
7:00- Small portion of chicken (generally seasoned with a rub and cooked in the oven) and a small can of random veggies (pea's, green beans, carrots, wax beans etc)

It totals to be a little over 1800 calories.

Before anyone suggests it's my water intake.
I drink on average 2-4 liters of water per day. (sometimes I mix a pack of Crystal Light-on the go into a 32 oz bottle but mostly I drink straight water)
I also have 1 small coffee in the morning. (I use Splenda and Fat Free creamer)

I've been tracking my food/water intake on a sheet of paper for the last month on the off chance I'm snacking more then I realize. However, this is not the case and I can't seem to shake the weight.

Also, I'm 100% not pregnant (unless my girlfriend has something she'd like to tell me. )

What gives? Anyone have any suggestion?

Please, I can't stress to you enough how important it is to keep your diet healthy. Eating disorders are so overlooked these days as fad diets gone wrong, but they are so much more. I'm 17 and currently recovering from anorexia, and would say that the past year has probably been the worst of my life. I feel like I've been half dead. It takes away your life and any joy you could ever obtain from it. It turns you into a devious, horrible person - all you care about is how you can lose more weight. Trust me, once you start, and you begin listening to that seductive voice, you won't turn back. Maybe I sound like I'm being over-dramatic or preachy, but if I can stop even just one person from knowing the torture it is to have an eating disorder then I'd be happy. You sound like you've got your head screwed on though, and if what you write is true then you know that eating nothing to lose weight is wrong. If you want to lose weight, think about joining a gym or going to the local pool; neither have to be private, so you wouldn't have to fork out a load of cash. Or maybe try analysing your diet properly, looking at things you might be able to cut out or substitute with a healthier option. Please don't let vanity destroy you, please realise that your body changes naturally as you get older and it's unrealistic to hope to achieve the body you had at 14/15 when you're 16/17. I know it's tough to watch yourself change and I know the desire to alter it, but trust me, starving yourself is possibly the worst decision you could make.

How much weight can you lose by not eating for a month?

All those answering below that it can’t be done are incorrect. It can be done, I myself have done it. It certainly depends on your activity level, as well as your starting weight. Why can't I stop eating until I feel sick?

I did that for 2-4 weeks and gained about 15 pounds one summer. I would always tell yself "well I'm going on 'this' diet tomorrow, so tonight will be the last night I eat whatever I want." Nope, doesn't work. Exercise in the morning or the middle of the day. One good decision will lead to the next. Something about exercising just motivates me to eat healthier. Consult your health care physician. Have you changed your diet? Are you depressed? Do you have any medical condition? Only your doctor can determine, if you're unsure. Do not guess or self- diagnose through others. Be certain through scheduling a doctor's appointment to find out if there is a problem causing your weight loss. An example, I have had friends and family members losing weight and not understand why. Turns out the developed diabetes. If they did not go to the doctor they would have been guessing. Not saying this is a possible symptom or health indicator for you. Just look into it for certainty.

I've stopped eating, what's wrong with me?

hi there i was in the same situation my boyfriend said i would always love you no matter what size you get so i went from a size 10 to a size 14 with his help, then all of a sudden he tells you how much weight youve put on and really think you need to slim, since then i have a room full of exercise equipment and have gone down to a size 10 again and now he buys me the boxes of chocolates and i give them back to him and he can eat them, and hes putting on a few pounds himself. And believe if he wants to go let him, theres plenty more fish in the tank, and feeling unhappy with yourself will only make you want to attack that fridge again, im worried that you find him talking to other people wrong, as this is just your jealousy kicking in, and yes marriage is about respect but hes only talking to them and hes married to you. I would try to lose weight but not for him, for you, instead of attacking the fridge go for fruit and get out of the house and do energetic things, hes a P.E instructor so get him to instruct and if he doesnt then tell him your leave him, as hes not helping you one bit with this, and yes he is toally wrong to say he will leave you if you do not stop eating. You really need to help yourself and im 43 also, the weight is no good for your health especially heart and the propect of diabetes so do this for yourself and if he wants to leave then you get that sexy bod ready and your husband will not be allowing anyone to talk to you in the future. You can do it and think of your heart the healthy kind not the emotional side.

How do I lose weight and eat what I want?

If you think about it, there are people in this world who are fortunate enough to be able to do just tht! They eat what they want and lose/maintain a healthy body weight.Why is this?The answer is simple. It's all down to their metabolism and the rate at which chemical reactions occur in their body- theirs is faster.So from this, as long as you raise your metabolism your body should react to food as it does to those slim-people-who-seem-to-eat-what-they-want!Unfortunately you can't raise your metabolic rate permanently however exercise increases it temporarily (for a few hours after).Regualr exercise will definitely help. Sleep also helps you lose weight and keeping hydrated and drinking lots of water also surpresses unnecessary hunger.Good luck

Husband keeps losing weight and don't know why?

For some reason lately my husband has been losing weight and we don't understand why. He is 5 foot 10 inches and weighs only 138, he eats none stop hoping whateve he eats will stick to him, instead it runs right out of him. Is there anyone that knows what he can do so he can start gaining some of his weight back. Is there something medically wrong, he won't go to a doctor. Does anyone know what to do?

Drinking water is always benifical instead of drink soft drink/cold drink/packed juice etc while thrusthy.Drinking 3–4 glass warm water is good in compare to bed tea in morning.Eat by mind not by taste (by tongue). Before eat think about the option arround you.32 time chew the food untill it become convert in to liquid diet. It's help your body metabolism to boost.In night body metabolism always low. So please try to finish your light dinner atleast 3hr ago before bed and also try to walk after dinner.Stress also make your body fat. How? Because your inner body sensor become busy to fight with your thought and your body always required some extra calories , so be peace full.Make sure salad should be your daily diet part.Running/Jogging in ground always benifical in compare to run at gym. Because it build your body stemna and you also get fresh air in early morning.Do excercise daily. Like you can dance, run, walk even can use stair .. moving here and there also benifical. Stand in bus instead of sit. Standing person have less weight gain in compare to sitting person.Keep water bottle, nuts, fruits, home made food in your beg always. So that you dont need to eat outside fast food in emergency.
