I Have This Speech To Make

Where do you draw the line between free speech and hate speech? If free speech is what we want, then is it alright if my speech would hurt a few people's feelings? If I'm restrained from expressing my opinion, what happened to my freedom of speech?

I don’t agree with a lot of the hate speech permeating the internet these days. However, I have to say that hate speech is yet another form of free speech. People are entitled to believe whatever they want and express their beliefs freely. However, in a society with free speech, anybody can counter their speech with more sane speech and debunk their bogus claims. I might not agree with what a lot of these hatemongers say but I will defend their right to say it freely, without any government suppression of their speech. When someone is spewing hate speech or believing the lies of such speech, you have to tell them WHY they shouldn’t believe such things nor subscribe to such ideologies. Any intelligent person who’s genuinely looking for the truth, will eventually learn to not take hate speech so seriously and they’ll become good at debunking it too. I feel much safer around someone who’s a reformed racist, homophobe or other bigot who GENUINELY understands why their past ideology was wrong, than I feel around people who reflexively shut down hate speech out of pure conformity. All it tells me is that such conformists would just turn on me and become an immediate threat to me, should the hatemongers ever get their way and become more popular. But I can understand why some people can consider restrictions on hate speech to be a necessary evil. Not all people are rational interlocutors seeking objective truths. It’s really easy to let other people do your thinking for you. It’s easy to fall for flawed belief systems that massage one’s ego and make them feel exceptionally special. It’s easy to hang on to the accomplishments of your race, country, or other group, as a source of pride (rather than actually going out and achieving things that you can personally take pride in). It’s also easy to engage in ‘othering’ for the purpose of blaming all your troubles on some external group, rather than tackle the real source of one’s problems. But then again, people like Donald Trump got elected because PC culture went a little too far by infringing upon people’s free speech. This is what I had always feared would happen someday.

I'm doing a speech on tacos and how to make them.?

Can I take xanax before I have to give a speech?

Will it zonk me out too much? I have a 0.5 mg pill- and I've never taken any before. I have this presentation I have to do for school (college) next week- and sometimes (like 10%) of the time I'm totally okay giving speeches, but much more frequently I'll get like 2 or 3 minutes into the speech and my face turns red, I have trouble breathing and sometimes I'll lose my voice completely and have to leave the room. I had a professor ask if I was having heart problems once. lol.

It's WEIRD because one-on-one I'm completely confidant talking to people and I'm usually the clown among my friends- but the second I have to get up in front of people at school- even in a class where I'm friends with everyone- I have a full blown panic attack.

So, I don't take xanax- but I have one pill that a friend gave me, and I'm wondering if I should take 1/2 or the whole thing, and if it will make me loopy during my speech? I'm about 105lbs- 5'3.

And please don't tell me I just shouldn't take it- because the speech is in two days and I'm not gonna find a public speaking coach between now and then.

I have a speech about sleeping but it has to be 4 minutes and its only 2 how do i make it longer?

So my speech has to be 4 minutes, and it's only 2 minutes can someone edit my speech and make it a bit longer where i can get it to around 4 minutes, and yes i am reading my speech slowly. Here what i have so far...

Sleeping

Sleeping is an important activity part of our daily living, and everyone needs it. If you lack sleep then you get very tired and lazy, studies have also shown that lack of sleep leads to wrinkles, depression, stress, and more vulnerability to different types of sicknesses. On the other hand oversleeping has been led to a host of medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, and increased risk of death.

How much is too much sleep? Well adults need around eight to nine hours of sleep per night, unlike adults, children need more sleep per night, around nine to ten hours. This is because kids are more active then most adults. When you get too much sleep you can feel tired and drowsy. This is why it's recommended to get only a specific amount of sleep per night.

When you sleep the right amount there are a lot of good things that happen to you. People who get enough sleep tend to have a sharper mind. This leads to better grades, better concentration, more creativity, and a increased memory. Those who get enough sleep tend to be healthier than other people, they are also much more active then others.

When you don't get enough sleep it's a bad thing and when you oversleep it's also a bad thing. So if you want to live longer, be healthier, and be happier in life. Sleep. So the next time you are tired take a nap or just fall asleep for a while, it will do you good now and in the long run.

I have to write a persuasive speech but I don't have any topic. What are some suggested topics?

Persuasive speeches are my favorite ones. And I usually combine them with being informative for the best impact. For picking a topic, I would recommend first asking yourself - "What do I believe? What do I think is true?"Everyone's version of reality is a little bit different. Persuasive speeches' main purpose are to persuade another person to adopt, or at least consider, your version of the truth. 1. Pick something that you think is true - We need more science in school, all politics are local, drinking water is the main source of health, football is the best sport of all - for example.2. Choose 3 reasons why this is true - Science knowledge makes us better thinkers, science has made our world a better place, schools without science lead to undereducated children - for example3. Then come up with one example or story for each reason. 4. Add an intro (main idea) and conclusion (repeat the main idea in another way). 5. And end the speech with a call to action - Please consider writing your congressperson to keep science a high priority in education. Some people can argue any point, even if they don't believe in it. But for most of us, we are much better speakers when we really believe something to be true. In preparing for the speech to try and persuade others of our reality, we also learn more about why we think the way we do, and how to present material. If you can't think of anything because you don't believe in anything, then make a persuasive speech about why people shouldn't believe in anything, just like you.
