I Have To Write An Essay On Theatre Of The Absurd But I Have No Idea What It Is

When I write an essay, I don't have any ideas, how do I get the ideas?

by studying the subject (internet+books) and finding something you like about it.But please note that writing like this is an exercise. This writing process is VERY wrong from a pure creative writing point of view. You should write essasys or ideas ‘tasting’ very interesting/cool/important FOR YOURSELF.On the other side, exercise (or the ‘workout of the writer’ as I call it) is VERY important.Any writing challenge makes you better, but you have to understand how writing works.Basically, creative writing is about what’s inside you mind, and if you honestly don’t care about something to the point that you have no idea what to write about it, you should not write it.On the contrary, daily workout is very important, and a a writer should NEVER be ashamed of wasting his ink.So workout my friend, but writing an essay about something you don’t care about will NEVER create any good result (but a very good workout only).Hoping this may be helpful,Wallace Lee

How do you write an essay on a topic which you do not have any idea about during an exam?

You are only asked to write an essay during an exam of a class you are enrolled in. There is scant possibility that the material was not covered either in class or in the required reading.Did you prepare thoroughly for the class? If the answer is an honest yes, then what you do, is you write nothing, put your name on the paper and you will fail the essay. If you prepared honestly for the test and you are still clueless, it is best that you are honest and fail. Then have a meeting with your instructor and tell the instructor that you were prepared as well as you could be and the question was so far afield that you did not know how to deal with it. Try and work out with the instructor some possible other strategies. Extra credit or what ever. However, if you really did not prepare well, and everyone else in the class did, you my friend are in an unenviable place. Take this as a lesson on why for every class room hour you should put in anywhere from 3–5 home work hours every week. If you are carrying 15 units, that means somewhere between 45–75 homework hours a week. There is no amount of BS you can possibly write on a topic you know nothing about. It is better to just turn in a blank paper then BS and fail anyway. The instructor will respect honesty and will dismiss BS in a heartbeat.

What is the absurd for Sartre?

Sartre's absurd has a different meaning than the traditional one of something being contradictory. Sartre's atheism posits not only that human beings are free if God does not exist, but also that if God exists, human beings are not free. These are important points that are relevant to his notion of the "absurd."Assume that there is a sheet of paper with words written on it. The sheet of paper is inert, and does not hold meaning for us by itself (this is sort of an example of Sartre's etre-en-soi or being-in-itself). We make sense of the sheet of paper based on our thoughts, conception of language et al. This implies that there is something like a consciousness that makes sense out of the inert sheet of paper, a consciousness (sort of like Sartre's etre-pour-soi or being-for-itself) that provides for awareness of beings and objects other than ourselves; this consciousness has no existence by itself - it depends on a synthesis with the inert paper to form meaning. Now, because of Sartre's assumed atheism, the inert matter is not created; it just is there. The synthesis of an uncreated being-in-itself with a consciousness that provides for phenomenal perception cannot be explained. While we make sense of the meaning, we cannot conceive an explanation. If God were to exist, the aforementioned explainable synthesis is the Ideal that we would attribute to Him. In a Godless atheistic world where we are free, we try to make sense of it all by trying to find out explanations for the synthesis of inert matter with consciousness, thereby trying to become God ourselves. This is the "absurd" for Sartre.

What if I have no plot ideas to write about?

Short answer, you’re screwed. Haha…I kid.If you’re really out of ideas, do what I call a picture method.Look at this picture I pulled from Pinterest:Now, ask yourself some questions about the picture:Who is she?Who is the man with the hands out? What is the woman doing other than casting some kind of spell or maybe offering a magic item?Who are the men behind her?So that’s just to get you started, but you want to take it a couple steps further:The woman is a queen, the men in the background are her vassals, the dukes of the queendom’s parliament. The man is the protagonist of the story, but she’s casting a spell to execute him. Let’s take this a step further. She’s the man’s sister, but she’s not the villain of the story. This is taking place in a temple of their gods. Their gods are living, interactive beings who have called for the man’s death. So what’s at stake? Why is the Queen executing her brother?Because he is a threat to her claim to the throne. Their mother recently passed away and it is the culture of this nation that siblings are required to eliminate all other claimants. He doesn’t want to fight and kill his sister, so he surrenders. Why are they battling again? Because the Queen Mother died. Many people think the Queen Mother died of old age, but she was assassinated. By one of the dukes who sees one of the siblings as a puppet to manipulate for his own ends. The duke himself has an alliance with another nation who have long since suffered under the Queen Mother’s yoke. They are trying to break free from her influence and maybe renegotiate with a weaker ruler. Now you have the basics of a plot — a foreign power along with a duke assassinates the Queen Mother, sparking the political maneuvering culminating into a final battle between the prince and princess for the throne. Then you’ll want to add in your own twists, characters, and create your own setting.Have fun!

What's the relation between absurd and Existentialism?? Help!!?

absurdism is really more of a theatrical movement (as expressed in the arts) that grew out of the philosophical movement of existentialism -

the two terms often get used together, but there are subtle differences:

existentialism is a philosophy - it teaches that humans are ultimately responsible for their own actions and for creating meaning in their lives and the idea that we should be good for good's sake

absurdism (or 'the absurd') is an idea that really grew out of existentialism but it is not really a full separate philosophy, rather it is a school of thought that is expressed in novels, essays, and mostly in plays - it examines the idea that the world is ultimately unknowable and that the universe is indifferent and that life is absurd, there is no meaning and there is no reason...life is absurd...
"The Myth of Sisyphus" is a famous essay by Albert Camus that outlines the absurd in life (of life). Both Camus and Sartre wrote about existentialism.

After the horrors of World War II, both existentialism and absurdism gained in popularity. The theatre of the absurd - specific movement in the theatre - becoame quite popular in the second half of the last century. Playwrights like Edward Albee, Eugene Ionesco, Samuel Beckett wrote plays examining the absurd nature of life and the universe.

In a way, existentialism offers a way through the state of life while absurdism examines things the way they are.

How should I write a compelling essay?

Huge subject. Quick thoughtsFirst, lay out the text well. Give your words room on the page. The examiner needs to see at-a-glance before reading a word that you’ve produced something worth reading. That you are confident.Short bold paragraphs say I’m helping you read this. Long cramped paragraphs say I’m boring - go away.No fluff. No adverbs. Few adjectives. Short sentences. Start/finish strongly. The basics. When I was at school I finished every essay with a made-up quote from the made-up C19 German philosopher Kirschner to make its core point:As the famous German logician Kirschner opined in the 1840s: “What is freedom of choice - if you have never been taught how to choose?”These days examiners have the Internet. But even if they know you’ve made it up, so what? It’s punchy, witty, and ‘different’.Second, use the technique knows as reframing. This is all about looking at an issue from a ‘higher’ or ‘wider’ and more abstract point of view.Say you’re writing an essay about Freedom of Speech. Whats that issue about? It’s not about banal arguments about shouting Fire in a theatre when there is no fire, just to cause panic blah blah bah. It’s about (you can argue) something very different, namely Integrity. Your profound right to express yourself - to be YOU - colliding (perhaps) with the right of others not to feel that somehow their integrity is being attacked merely by your words. So what is a clash of integrities about? It’s about Control. Who sets the rules? What factors can legitimately be taken into account when rules are set to limit someone’s integrity? When does Control become Tyranny? When does reasonable concern slump into paranoia?Who decides?Who decides who decides?By using reframing like this to set up contrasts of big themes, you push the issues away from facts/analysis → WISDOM.Then it’s compelling. As the C19 German logician Kirschner proclaimed, “Insight is for the wise. Facts are for the idle”.Done.

How do I write a simple five paragraph essay since I have no idea what am I going to write about the topic?

Brainstorm your ideas. Write down everything you can think of about the topic. Don’t worry if it’s right or not, or even relevant. If you evaluate your ideas as you write, you’ll never get anything on the page. Moreover, the bad ideas will spur good ones, so just keep at it for a set amount of time. This gets easier as you practice, so you might begin brainstorming for five minutes and after a couple of times, go to ten, and then to fifteen for future assignments. When you are done brainstorming, read over your list. Now is the time to evaluate your ideas. Keep the best and leave the rest. If you have enough main ideas, cross out stray ideas. If you don’t have enough ideas, take the stray ideas and add some more points to them. How many ideas are enough? You’ll need an introduction and conclusion and body paragraphs (middle paragraphs). Each middle paragraph should make and work to a prove a main idea. A five paragraph essay, then, will need an introduction, a conclusion, and three main points (one for each of three body paragraphs) and some details and examples to prove each point. When you are done, put your ideas in a logical order. Finally, put a star next to the main ideas and leave the details and examples unstarred. It should be a simple matter to write an outline from an organized list like this.If you are really stuck, you could always do some research on the net before you brainstorm, but the kind of essays you will encounter when you begin an English 101 class probably will be focused on your life experience and/or an essay you read in class. The Writing Center at your college can help you with issues like these, always.

What are the differences between drama and theatre?

A quick answer. Drama is a genre, “theatre” encompasses everything and anything that happens upon a stage for the entertainment, edification, education and enjoyment of an audience.Drama usually refers to a piece of fiction presented in the form of a play in which actors take on a number of roles and act out the author’s piece. It can be written in prose or poetry, and is considered a poetic form. However, it needs actors to flesh out the playwright’s words, unlike poetry which can be enjoyed quietly by a reader.Theatre, on the other hand, can refer to mime, dance, opera, circus, musical, cabaret, etc. Thus drama is a form of theatre, rather than the other way around.
