I Have Two Ghost Shrimp And One Has Red On The Two Front Claws

African Clawed Frog Owners *ONLY* Smallest tank size possible for African Clawed Frog?

Okay, so PetCo (a LPS) is apparently clueless and doesn't know what frogs are what. So instead of buying 3 African DWARF Frogs like I thought I had...one ended up being an African CLAWED Frog.

The Dwarfs are in my 3 gallon male Betta tank along with one Ghost Shrimp. (I do water changes 2-3 times a week, don't tell me to upgrade my tank)

The Clawed was moved from the 3 gallon tank into my 10 gallon female Betta sorority. (currently houses 8 female Betta's, water change done 2-3 times a week or more) The Clawed is only an inch long so I'm not worried about him hurting my female Betta's yet. Right now I'm worried about the frog, one of my female Betta's bit one of his 'arms' yesterday.

I know this frog needs to be moved into his own tank soon. What is the SMALLEST tank possible to house ONE Clawed frog with NOTHING else (no fish, no mollusks, no crustaceans)? Would I 5 gallon be okay? Because I know for a FACT that I will NOT be able to get a 10 gallon tank for ONE frog. If I had the frog in a 5 gallon I would use small pea-sized gravel so if ingested the frog would be able to pass it. I would also do 2-3 water changes a week like I do for my Betta's. I know these frogs create a lot of waste.

I would love to have this frog in a 10 gallon but I can't afford another 10 gallon tank. I also can't take him back to PetCo to get my money back as that store is horrid (I only go there to 'rescue' fish. I've gotten all of my 'oddball' fish from there). I also don't want to give him away to a good fish store or anything because he's quite adorable. Whenever I feed him he'll put his bloodworms in a nice pile and then eat one (which scatters the worms again). So he'll pile them up again and repeat the process over and over.

So will a 5 gallon suffice if I do all that I've listed above?

Can I use live ghost shrimp to cycle my aquarium? What about Red Clawed Crabs?

You can use the shrimp to cycle, however they might not last long during the initial ammonia spike. It's very difficul for any animal to survive that spike. I suppose you could put in one or two and change the water 10% every other day, though I still recommend cycling without animals. As for the crab, I wouldn't add it to this system. They need sea salt, and the betta cannot handle any salt at all. They come from softwater pools and paddies, where there is very little to no salt whatsoever. So no crabs, they should have their own tank with a bit of access to land.

My Baby Red Eared Slider only wants to eat freeze dried shrimp. Is this Ok?

I have had a baby RES for about a month and he does not like to eat commercial turtle food. I have two kinds and he just spits them out. I am worried that he is not getting the right nutrition. Any suggestions?

Why do my red eared sliders flutter their claws at each other's faces?

I have 3 sliders in a 55 gallon long tank with a flat floating "rock" and a light shining on it. They get turtle bites and there are always feeders living in the tank for the turtles' pleasure. They seem happy enough, recognize and follow our voices waiting for treats (small pieces of cooked meat). All three have long claws, so I'ma thinkin they're all male, but................ why do they bat each other in the face? Usually after I turn off their light, they get in a circle and flutter their claws in each other's faces. Its very bizarre and funny - I love to watch them do it. Are they just amusing themselves?

Ten gallon tank with one Betta?

there are many fish that are compatible as betta tankmates. The four rules that you can use to determine whether a fish is compatible are

1) Not colorful or resemble a rival betta's colors (guppies)
2) Not a fin nipper (Tiger barbs are a big NO)
3) The right size for the size of the tank (No common plecos in a 10 gallon tank since they get to 2 feet in length)
4) Lives roughly in the same water conditions as a betta (no brackish/saltwater fish)

What was/is the coolest predator to ever exist?

Smilodon (Sabre-tooth Tiger)Deadliest? probably not!?Coolest? Definitely!Popularly known as the Saber-toothed Tiger (cool name), Smilodon is the genus of now-extinct prehistoric cats with three species-S. gracilis, S. fatalis and S. populator, S.populotor being the largest, with weight about 220–400 kgs and heights upto 120 cm. Similar in size to lions, they had a much muscular, beefy built with shorter legs and tail, and the obvious, elongated canines - which could grow up to 11 inches Putting it this way, they were the Powerlifter equivalents to the modern day Big Cats! They could open their mouth up to 120 degrees, which becomes a necessity if you want to sink those fangs in to something effectively. But everything comes at a cost- their bite force was probably not very impressive- lesser than the present day lions, mostly due to the small size of their lower jaw to accommodate the canines. Also, the canines were quite brittle and didn’t grow back. Nevertheless, their ambush prowess was impressive owing to their powerful, muscular bodies. But of course, whose counting deadly anyways? Fangs look cool! With their remains found in the American continents, their extinction has been linked to climate change, food shortages due to decline in number of larger ruminants and possible human interaction.Diego from the popular Ice Age series was based on Smilodons.Don’t worry! Just a regular tooth-inspectionSay Cheese!Ref:How Much Do You Know About the Saber-Tooth Tiger?Smilodon - WikipediaSmilodon - Facts and PicturesEdit: Updated on bite force and lethality comparison. updated a picture for refence.Edit 2: Updated the Genus classification and added a new reference.Edit 3: It’s Sabre-toothed cat incorrectly referred to as a Sabre-toothed Tiger. Tiger sounds cool though.

How big Do Red Eared Sliders Grow?

Size for basic Sliders is a body length: 6-8" is average for males, up to 12 inches max for females, but average is about 9 to 10“ in captivity.

Life span: 15-25+ year’s plus. Males have the longer front nails and are used in mating. And are considered mature at about 5 yrs old. You can’t start sexing till about 3” across.

Remember 10 gallons for every inch of PER turtle.

They NEED calcium and protein they get it from the fish meat and the fish bones. Drop 20 or 30 or so feeder guppies or small goldfish or minnows they maybe a bit fast for babies at first just drop in the tank and watch them disappear in a few days.
Plus I also feed dried cubed blood worms or tubiflex worms or pellets at least 5 times a week for my five..
They can have garden worms which I collect after a good rain and dump them in the pond, also meal worms, snails, crickets, flies, crayfish small frogs, slugs, tadpoles, ghost shrimp , dragon flies and anything that moves, but only as a treat.
They need leafy greens Romaine, Butter lettuce. (Iceberg and cabbage are bad for them, any other leafy greens will do) for vitamin A that they need at least 4 to 5 times a week.
They love grapes and strawberries and squash , apples cut up..

I wish you luck!!!
