I Have Won A 2015 Dv Lottery But My Name And Last Name Are Mixed.

Is it true that there is going to be no lottery system for H1B visa from next year (2019)?

Where did you get that? There is no such thing. TRUMP is banning Diversity Immigrant Visa program also known as Visa Lottery which essentially is a type of Visa or more specifically a Green Card that is given away to the under-represented countries in the US population and people who apply are selected randomly by the method of Lottery process. The lottery is administered by the Department of State and conducted under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). It makes available 50,000 immigrant visas annually and aims to diversify the immigrant population in the United States, by selecting applicants from countries with low numbers of immigrants in the previous five years. As of 2017, around 20 million people apply for the lottery each year. There is no skills condition for applying Diversity Visa program, only you have to be from one of these countries declared eligible by Dept. of State. INDIA is not in the list of these countries since India exceeds the immigrant population threshold. On the other hand, H1B visa is a high skilled temporary worker Visa. Lottery draw is opted when the applicants for the H1B quota exceeds the 65000 annual limit to be fair with all applicants. It has nothing to do with Diversity Visa Lottery Program. Please dont mix up Diversity Visa Lottery Program given with the high skilled H1B Temporary worker Visa. Please check the following links:Diversity Immigrant Visa - WikipediaH-1B visa - Wikipedia

My name on the passport and academic certificates differ. Is that a problem?

My husband faced a similar situation when he moved to Europe over 40 years ago, with his "first" name appearing as, Md. or Mohd in some documents and Muhammad in others. The irony was that he actually went by his middle names (some people calling him one and others the other) and in his signature used only those 2 initials  before his last name. Despite all this he had no problem obtaining a passport and a visa, and enrolling in a PhD program. And years later, he had no problem moving to the USA and getting his academic credentials approved. So, I do not expect too much trouble for you. Depending on where you want to go, at some point someone may ask for an affidavit that you are one and the same person. This is easily done.P.S.In the USA my husband started signing his research using 3 initials and the last name. A complication arose when he found out that another scientist, in the same field, in another state, shared the exact same name and signed the exact same way, and their publication credits were getting confused. Eventually they met at a conference (where the namesake had been given his materials, including a name badge with the "wrong" city/state) and sorted it out among themselves, each chosing a different version of their name for future publications.

I was denied a B1/B2 visa twice on immigration section 214(b). What does this mean?

Visa officers are very smart, they are psychologists, they have close to 2 minutes to judge you based on few sets of questions. My first experience was that I was quite nervous at the time of interview, and could not present myself well, and counselor officer refused visa under section 214 B. But after a month, with lot of preparation and few tricks my visa got approved. But everyone has their unique case, so you carefully see what could be the reasons for denial. Section 214 B, basically means,You are not able to demonstrate your intention of your visit (purpose should be clear).Or you are not able to demonstrate strong ties to your home country (they want strong ties which will forced you to come back after the visit).Or Your financials (your salary & investments) should be good enough. (in case you are lost due to some reasons you should be able to bear expenses on your own)But do not get depressed, 214 B denial is not permanent, apply again. Earlier I was going for a six week trip and I was not able to justify, why I need six weeks, so later I changed my duration from six weeks to three weeks. Be prepare well, present the answers with confidence and that’s it. In my case, just to add strong ties, I purposefully added few things in my answers, I believe that worked out for me. E.g., VO as asked me, exact three weeks, I said yes, I cannot stay more than that as my daughter is turning three on 31st. August, and I have to come back before that. So you can choose to prepare and plan your answers. If you need more explanation, share your case or feel free to get in touch. Thanks.

Why Nepal gets more number of DV VISA?

Agreed with Tal Reichert explanations. There are no specific policies that grants or favors more DV visas to Nepalese. DV is a global visa pool (50,000 per year) allocated to the countries that sends less than 50,000 migrants in last five years. Every year Nepal gets about 2/3,000 of Diversity Visas. Here are few reasons that are plausible.Number of applicants - Most Nepalese loves America so every year number of Nepalese applying for DV lottery is increasing exponentially. Its simply the probability of chances with high number of applicants , higher chances to be selected in the lottery.Education - Nepal’s literacy rate and higher education improved dramatically in the last two decades so there are many applicants with high school diplomas.Maximum 7% of the total diversity visas (3,500) of 50,000 is cap for any country. There are many countries that get more applicants than Nepal and possibly more diversity visa. Please check this list. https://travel.state.gov/content...

How do I get US citizenship with H1B visa? How long does it take?

It's a common misconception that an H1b is a stepping stone to permanent residence or citizenship. It's not. The H1b allows you to work in a particular job for a maximum of 6 years, and that's it.What it does do is put you in a position where you are more likely to be exposed to other opportunities that lead to permanent residence, which then lead to citizenship. There are two main ways to get permanent residence: though work, or through a family connection. Probably the most common way H1b holders obtain permanent status in the US is through a green card petition filed by their employer. Theoretically, the employer can file a green card petition for anyone, anywhere in the world. However, the process is complicated, lengthy, and expensive, and the employer is much more like to undertake it on behalf of a current, proven employee working temporarily on the H1b, rather than invest the time and effort in a new employee who may or may not work out in the end.In certain situations where the H1b holder has risen to the very top of her field or is doing work considered to be of great benefit to the country, it may be possible to apply for a green card without a sponsoring employer. Again, anyone can put in an application like this, but when you are applying on your own behalf on the basis of your work being a benefit to the US, this is much easier to prove when you are already here actually doing the beneficial work. The other way to get your green card is to marry a US citizen or resident, which of course, if more likely to happen if you are living and working in the US. :)Once you get your residence, you can apply for citizenship 5 years later (or 3 years later if you are married to a citizen).
