I Heard And Felt A Loud Pop In My Knee A Few Months Back And Im Still In Pain. I Dont Know What It

Back pain after a "popping" sound in back?

Stella,
I'm a chiropractor. Your boyfriend really needs to get his back checked out, it could be something from from very serious to something relatively minor (even though it hurts like heck).

The most common cause of this type of pain is due to a misalignment in the back. This occurred when he heard the "pop". The joints became misaligned. As a result, this causes all sorts of strain on the bakc. It causes the muscles to pull tighter and it really hurts.

A chiropractor would take a look at your boyfriend and diagnose the true cause. If it is a misalignment, he should be able to realign it.

As for what to do right now, Since this just happened, you boyfriend wants to you Ice- NOT heat. I would suggest him lying on ice packs for about 10-15 minutes at a time. Then wait about 1/2 hr and do it again.

Also, I would not recommend that he go to work. This is just going to aggravate it.

I also know that there are also over the counter anti-inflammatory medicines that many people take(as a chiropractor, I can not officilaly recommend any medications). But I'm sure you've heard many of the common names.

Aslo, if this continues to get worse, go see your doctor. If he has any trouble going to the bathroom, go to the ER right away.

I wish your boyfriend the best

Heard a pop in my knee (no pain then). Now it's starting to ache.?

You hyperextended your knee. Even if you didn't feel it go beyond normal range, it being locked straight is the only thing that could have happened.

I don't like the pop, but it may just be a ligament or band in the patellar region.

Commonly the worst case here would be an ACL tear - Anterior Cruciate Ligament. In your case, you probably just sprained it.

Which now it is swelling from the hyperextension, and so when you put any strain on the tissues they are tight and hurt. IE: Straight or bent.

You need to Rest!

You need to Ice the knee, for 24-36 hours.

Compress it if you can with ice and bandage wrap (or store bought apparatus ). This helps with swelling, and compression helps with structural integrity and support.

Elevate -- keep it propped up, above the heart if possible. This helps with swelling again.

You want to minimize swelling the first day or two, this will help with overall pain, and healing.

Stay off it. If you have crutches, use them. If you have a brace, use it. Try to keep pressure off it. The better you can do this, the faster it will heal.

If it gets worse, or you are unable to walk without excruciating pain -- See a doctor. You can wait till tomorrow if it is nighttime at the moment.

Otherwise, it should heal, if not torn, within 5-10 days.. and feel alot stronger in 3-5 days.

You were right to question it. Think of it as a delicate thing, the more you leave it alone the quicker it will get better.

There was a Loud Pop in my knee?

A few weeks ago I was playing soccer and I got pushed down. I landed in a position where my foot was touching my hip, so my knee was bent back. It popped when I landed. After that my knee was very swollen and I couldn't straighten it or bend it very far.
We went to a sports medicine place and the doctor felt all my ligaments and said they were fine. She said it was just trauma and once the swelling went down I could play again. She said it would be a few days. I took ibueprofen three times a day, and iced it everyday.... It took two weeks for the swelling to be almost gone, and it was still sort of painful to bend and straighten. But I played in my soccer game anyway.
During my game I guess I tripped or fell in a little hole and me leg popped again, then I fell down. This was way more painful than the first time, and it immediately swelled again. I used crutches that we had laying around my house for the last two days, but now I can walk with a very awkward looking limp.
My doctors appointment is on Thursday. I really want someone's opinion on what might be wrong with my knee, and how I can treat it.
Thanks

I heard and felt a loud pop in my knee a few months back and im still in pain. i dont know what it is.?

My parents don't think it is anything to worry about but it concerns me. I'm trying to figure out some possibilites. I was doing jumping jacks a few months ago and my knee popped and it was very painful for a few days.the pain i get now is underneath my kneecap. I am not in extreme pain but i cant kneel on that knee at all that is the most pain i get in it unless im doing lunges or squats or something. It isnt swollen and i dont recall it ever being swollen. Infact i feel like underneath my knee cap is more sunken then the not painful knee. It use to be hard to straighten it but sense i stopped working out as much i can straighten it. It hurts daily, its a sharp pain. I'm just looking for other opinions on what it could be and if i should keep bothering my parents about it. I would love to workout like i use to but i cant with my knee like this.

Why does one of my knees sound like popping corn when I bend or straighten it?

There are many reasons why the knee can click and pop.  Sometimes the answer to this question can be totally benign or times more serious.  A meniscal tear will click - pop but most likely also catch / lock at a specific point when you are bending and straightening your knee.  Also there is a condition in which a meniscus may be abnormally shaped known as discoid meniscus that causes audible popping. Arthritic issues can cause your body to lay down  excess bone within or near joint surfaces that can cause excess friction. There are a number of more benign causes such as muscle groups around the knee that can become aggravated by inflammation and partial tears along insertion sites.  Common examples are iliotibial band friction syndrome,  snapping biceps femoris (ham string) over its insertion site of the fibula.

Pain in top of foot, felt a pop?

I am a ballet dancer, and in class a few days ago, I was landing from a jump and felt a popping or snapping sensation in the top of my foot. It was immediate sharp pain, and hasn't stopped since. It is painful to touch it in a very specific spot on the top of my foot. When sitting or resting, there is a dull aching pain, which is now radiating up my foot towards my ankle. When in motion, it hurts to flex and point, basically any motion. I have tried googling possible injuries, but nothing seems to quite describe my pain that I am experiencing. Please help!

Four months ago, I underwent ACL knee surgery. Recently, I am experiencing continuous clicks in it when I straighten my knee tightly but there’s no pain. Is it normal?

Personal experience. That is quite possible. But it should be only a click sound and not a big pop sound. Hope you get the difference. Pop sounds also in some cases (not all) do not indicate any issues. I had suffered a meniscal tear while running and I had a large popping sound coming out of knee. Clicking sounds are generally due to sinovial fluid in and around tissues of cartilage and femur/tibia. Popping sounds in worst cases are due to tissue ruptures (like in my case - posterior meniscus got torn). Hope this helps.

What should you do if your knee made a loud popping sound during squats?

I liked Daniel Lee's answer a lot.I also want to give you my thoughts as well though.First off, STOP. The best an athlete(or anybody for that matter) can do is listen to their body. If something is hurting(not the "feeling sore from exercise" hurting) you should always stop. Go to a doctor or a specialist and speak to them about your situation. It could be something is wrong/your form may not be correct/or something about that exercise is just not right for you.The best advice I can give you when squatting is to keep your knees behind your toes when going down and try not to go farther than your hamstrings being parallel to the ground. If you are having trouble keeping your knees behind your toes pay attention to how you are standing when squatting. Make sure you are not on your toes as this tends to make the knees move over the toes. Aim for flat feet and weight distribution evenly throughout the foot, front to back.  Also, you may want to reduce the weight. I don't know you or what you are capable of but if I am ever working with someone on weight training I always have them start with the bar or basically little to no weight. Perfecting the form is most important, the addition of weight will come later, with time and hard work. Please don't find this discouraging if you do, the fact that you are getting out their and putting in hard work to better yourself is amazing and takes real dedication!Kudos to you!P.S. I attached below a good image I found of great squatting form. I hope this helps.
