I Hit My Head And I Now Have 2 Big Bumps And Scratches On My Forehead Any Way To Make It Heal

Hit head pretty hard, small bump?

You have a bump because you hit your head, and that's just how skulls react. Your headache today is most likely not related, headaches due to head injuries tend to happen pretty immediately following the injury. It can take a week or so for the goose egg to go down and stop being tender, and it will be sore to the touch until then. Skulls are pretty tough, so you aren't likely to have done any major damage to the brain pan and can relax about that. Try taking some Tylenol to help with the headache you have now, and possibly a hot shower or hot soak in the tub. Most headaches will respond to that. As long as you are not experiencing vision or balance problems, you will be just fine.

What cause bruises to itch? Is it bad to scratch them?

From what I’ve read there are three main factors at work with regards to bruises itching: injury to the nerve endings, damage to capillaries and other small blood vessels, and the breakdown of blood within the tissues. Most bruises are caused by impact injuries. During the impact tissues, including nerve endings are compressed. There is also an accompanying swelling. Between the compression and swelling nerve endings have experienced trauma. As the swelling goes down and the healing process proceeds, the nerve endings begin to function normally. That return of full sensation accounts for some of the itch.Along with the nerve endings being affected, blood vessels suffer crush injury. This results in bleeding within the skin/muscle tissue. As that blood breaks down, we not only witness changes to the coloration of the tissues, but that breakdown releases histamines. Part of that is because as the blood breaks down, bilirubin is released (it is a component of blood). Bilirubin is known to trigger itching in some people. Also the damaged capillaries and small blood vessels are healing. Sometimes they simply regrow along different pathways. This is another source of itching.Basically the itching is part of the overall healing process. You should not scratch the area. Scratching can cause further damage, leaving excoriation wounds that are potential sources for infection.Oddly enough I’ve had countless bruises in my life, some of them severe. Yet none of them itched when healing until the past couple of years. Maybe I’m just getting more delicate in my old age?

5 Month old hit her head. What should I look out for?

Since it wasn't a big fall she is probably fine. But for future reference, when a baby hits her head the first sign you need to look forward is for the baby to be responsive, so if she cried that's a good sign. Next thing would be to check her head for any nods, bumps or scratches. If there are not any, she is probably ok too. Obviously, lots of times after a baby hits her head, she'll eventually get a little bump, but those ones normally don't show at the moment but hours later. You also need to check the baby's pupils and make sure she is focusing and both pupils are the same size. If the pupils are not even or are extremely dilated, you need to call the doctor since that is sign of concussion. Watch out for any vomiting too. If a person suffers a concussion, vomiting will follow immediately or within the next few minutes. If the baby falls asleep after the fall, make sure to wake her up every couple of hours. If the baby is lethargic, meaning that she wont respond to you, then call the doctor. Baby's should be able to respond to you trying to wake them up by opening their eyes, crying, smiling or doing gestures that show they are ok, even if they just turn around and go back to sleep.
You can also check any changes in the baby's behavior and eating habits. If the baby gets fussy or is not behaving normally in the next 24 hours, make sure you call the doctor. Also, if the baby is not eating regularly you should seek medical help, just in case there is something else.

Hope this helps.

Son bumped his head twice in same spot?

Trust your instincts. If your son is behaving normally, there is no need to take him to the doctor. Watch for signs in his speech and his movements - if he is walking normally, and talking normally, you shouldn't worry. Make sure there is no fever, and there is no bleeding in the ears. Also check his eyes with a regular flashlight to see that the pupils are dilating properly. Also, watch his sleeping patterns. He shouldn't be sleeping any more than usual. If he seems extremely sleepy or lethargic, you should call the doctor. But if that all seems normal, he doesn't have a concussion, and there is no need for a visit to the doctor.

A bruise or a bump (sometimes called a goosegg) is nothing to worry about. They are NOT signs of any internal injury to the brain.

I have taken my son to the ER several times after what I thought was a serious fall, only to have the doctors there laugh at me. If the child behaves normally, there is no chance of injury to the brain. So don't worry!

Bump on my finger result of a cut.?

A while back I was trying to open something with a razor blade. Stupid right? Well the blade slipped and I had a deep cut on my finger. It took about 20 minutes to stop all the bleeding. No doctor visits I did keep a homemade split around my finger to keep it from bending and re opening the wound once it started to heal. The scar is nearly invisible but I do have a bump right above the scar. The bump is about that-> |___| big. Also my finger where the scar is will hurt far more then it should if I hit it. I am just wondering if the bump is an result of how the tissue heal over. Or for more worse ideas could of gotten a infection and the bump is result of that.

Is it safe to shower after hitting my head?

I slipped and hit my head on the edge of my wall about an hour ago, there is a big lump on my head and a bruise.. it's still a little sore.
Do you think having a shower would be okay? Pain wise? (I'm not concussed or anything)
Thanks! xx
