I Improved My Song Is There Any More Suggestions On How To Make It Better

Is there any suggestion from which I can improve next time?

I agree with James Martin about the guitar sound - it definitely does have a fuller and warmer sound compared with your previous question about Here Comes The Sun (Any useful, constructive feedback on my cover of this wonderful song?). Here are a few things that I noticed:The reverberation from the room that you are recording the vocals in is a little too noticeable. It doesn't sound like you're adding in much (or any) reverb in the mix, but the room itself doesn't sound dead enough and sort of separates the guitar and vocal tracks. This might be just personal preference, but I feel that the vocal lines are a bit rushed. Not necessarily in terms of the pocket but this song is very laid back and often conjures images of a serene grassy knoll for me. I suppose what I'm suggesting is to slur the vocal line into a more organic, flowing entity rather than hitting all of the eighth notes on the mark. On the 'take these broken wings' bit, for example, I would prefer to hear the 'bro' syllable extended and the 'ken' syllable shortened.I would almost want to hear you belt out 'into the light...' a little more. It's a compelling moment in the song, both lyrically and melodically, and I feel that it could be emphasized. The vocal harmonies are really nice but I think the pitch is ever so slightly off to the point where if you were tuning the harmonics on the guitar, you would hear a only a slight warble. Your pitch, overall, is great and this is really a minor thing.Again, much of this is preference, and I think you've, once again, done a great job. If you dress the back of your vocal room with a heavy curtain or something, I think it would help with the reverb (if you even worry about this). Thanks for sharing your works again - your willingness for critique will definitely take you far, and I hope what I've mentioned is either stuff that helps you or stuff that you're not bothered by.

SILLY QUESTION!!!! Can I get better at singing?

Sorry but without voice lesson youre probably not going to get any better. And you have to know how to sight read music.

But if youre really determined, heres some tips

You dont have to sing loud to sound resonant. Just keep the sound at the front of your mouth. Never resort to singing from your throat. Even in your chest voice you should be singing forward.

Also make sure that when you take breaths, expand you stomach and DO NOT let you shoulders rise. This will give you much more air.

Also, when you go to hit a high or difficult note, keep your stomach mucles contracted. However, when you go for a breath, relax your stomach muscles.

When you go to sing, make sure you are standing in a singing position. Stand with your feet under you hips and your hands at your sides ( if youre holding a microphone, hold the microphone and keep your free hand by your side ). When I say this I dont mean that you cant make hand gestures for purposes of showing character, but dont cross you arms or clasp your arms in front or in back of you. When you do this, it pushes in your rib cage, which causes you to get less air when you breathe.

Make sure you have a rich tone quality. Your vowel shapes should be round. Think tall, not wide.

Other things to think about are good diction, control, and having an open throat

How do I improve and better my decision making skills when mixing a song or instrumental?

There are no secrets here.Just like getting to Carnegie Hall, practice, practice. The more time you spend making decisions, and evaluating what you do and don’t like about your mixes, the more creative you will become, and the faster you will make these decisions. If you are working on the song from the start of the production, many mix decisions should be decided during the arranging and recording phase. The better your choice of instruments, mic selection, arrangement, and sounds you put down during the capture, the easier the mix becomes, and this can make for an incredibly solid, beautiful sounding mix, with spontaneity, and punch. The less EQ you use, the fewer phase shifts, which cause subtle cancellations that take some impact out of a mix. Most everyone will move a mic to find the sweet spot before touching an EQ.A couple guys who take this to the extreme, using little to no compression, controlling gain by riding faders or using automation, using very little EQ.Bruce Sewdien, and Al Schmidt, are two names known known to work this way, their work is certainly stellar.Much of their mix decisions are made during the recording process, while the final mix is mostly balancing levels, a touch of EQ here and there, and adding any processing or editing. My other suggestion, is to listen to great mixes that you enjoy with a critical ear.Break them down, hear what the engineer is doing with each element.Take a similar song, and practice emulating these sounds using their mix as a reference. You will want to level match the reference mix to your mix as closely as possible in the DAW, and it is easiest to put it either on track 1, or adjacent to the Mix Bus.

How can I improve my jazz endings on drum set?

I play set in a jazz band but I feel like I always end a song by rolling on the ride cymbal and throwing some bass kicks in and ending with a bass hit. I've tried to look up some videos on youtube that might help, but I really cannot come across any good ones. Suggestions?
Thanks so much!

P.S. Girl drummers rule. ;) Had to put that out there.

How can I improve my singing voice?

Well currently I am fourteen years young and proud of it.
The reason I'm asking a question right now is because...
well I need the information on it obviously. Here's a little
insight on me:

I'm a female who is fourteen and heading into freshman year.
When I was little I'd always be singing and dancing on video
in front of my family. My dad was a dj so I was really into music.
I would always entertain my family on holidays and other things.
So pretty much I can say I absolutely LOVE singing. It's my
passion and I'm willing to do almost anything that has to do
with it. I've been in singing classes throughout elementary school
and middle school. I'm now planning on taking a choir class in
high school as well. Just last year I had my own solo in our spring
show and it was my first. I don't think I did that great but if you want
to see it, its on myspace videos and type in kelseys first solo. I
really dont like the way it sounds because I don't think my vocals
were ready. I would love to become a famous singer someday more
than anything I've ever wanted. It is my dream and I'll keep pushing
until my dream comes true.

Pretty much, are there any tips that you guys can
give me to improve my singing voice? I know I'm going
to need a teacher and thats what choir class is for.
Any other stretching tips or vocal exercises I could
do regularly? I sing practically everyday. Sometimes when
I sing my throat starts hurting and so I know I'm doing some-
thing wrong. I would love to sing like Demi Lovato because
I believe she has an Amazing voice. - and I just saw her in concert -
Please.... any suggestions/ tips/ exercises or anything
you guys can give me and help me out to make my dream come
true. Thank you so much for your support. <3

And please nothing too harsh on the video, it was my first
solo, and I was a little nervous but I'm over it now. I know
I can do wayyy better on other songs I just dont want to stress
my voice. Just constructive/ helpful critisizm and nothing harsh.
Thank you lotts. :]

How do i improve my rap delivery?

first off bro get rid of that wake *** beat. your never going to go anywhere with that ****. second, rap about what's real, and when i say real bro, i mean real to you. not, what you hear other rappers spit. yeah man your flow is really nice easy to listen to, doesn't sound choppy, lyrics were nice sounded real to you. Delivery needs to be straight. Don't listen to that **** about singing in a rap, come on em sings on a rap and the girlies love it. i'm guessing your not going for that pop teen sensenation. so, with that said rap do what you do but again put some emotion into it. don't sound so monotone. put emphasis in certain parts when your rapping, show your love. Sounds good though. Oh, and sorry your from Dayon bro. Cinci is my second city love that place to death man. Keep doing what your doing man patiently waiting for you to make it.
