Anybody got any mutual M/M stories?

What is your favorite thing about your local public library?

A large portion of the first floor of the local library here is actually a play area for children. The whole “quiet while in the library” thing doesn’t work here, which is fine by me. On particularly hot summer days, the library play area is our go-to “daily outing.” They have everything you could want in a play area: blocks, puzzles, dolls, and, more importantly, other children. I can take my kids there and sit back and read within eyesight of them while they play with the other kids. Not that you asked, but there is one thing I hate about the local library. They have several small meeting rooms which are often unused, but they will not let me use them when I’m tutoring students on the side. They won’t let anyone use the rooms for anything that is for profit. I tutor high school students for the ACT, and I’m not always allowed to use my classroom for that. I can’t bring the students to my house, because that’s just setting myself up for a lawsuit. Never be alone with a student… that’s the golden rule of teaching. So I need a public place that I can use to tutor students, and the library won’t let me use their unused meeting rooms. I am a taxpayer. I’ve even offered to pay extra for the room, but they won’t let me. They’d rather let that space go to waste for an hour than allow me to rent it and use it to make a few bucks helping kids do better on the ACT. #governmentlogic, amiright?Ok. Rant over. I feel better now.

Crazy or cool pick-up lines?

So....It's as simple as that. What are some crazy or cool or abnormal pick-up lines? They can be anything you've used. Or anything that's been used on you. It can be anything from "I'm a math teacher, one plus two equals you and me." to "Baby your so sweet you put Hershy's outta business" to "I lost my teddy, will you sleep with me?"

Ready? Set? Go!!!

Where is it safe to practice the use of a samurai sword?

Sure look around the net in your region and see if there is a Kendo, kenjitsu, Iado school of sword teaching. A friends house with a yard or garage or basement?

most importantly, Make sure you try and find a teacher learning from a book in this case can prove fatal. GET A bokken and Shinai for certain and do your best to find a teacher. IF YOU have no luck finding a teacher, at least you will have safer gear to use if you are using a book, which would be a last resort to use in my opinion. Nothing replaces that of having the real teacher.

If you just bought it to play with as a toy, then DONT. Its not a toy. but i think you know this already, try your best to get a teacher.

If not then look for an open area away from the public or at least many people where you can practice alone or in quiet in the woods or at a friends basement or maybe at a public park with permission, but in that case i would definately use the bokken because taking a real katana into a public park may get you in trouble. they may not be illegal, but it is a weapon and can be misunderstood and you could find your self with the cops surrounding you. Lucky you in the UK and you dont get shot first before they try to disarm you. Here in many parts of the USA they shoot and look later.

Not that cops are bad they are not, they are great. It is the training in the UK is differant than for US police. I am by no means degrading any police force, the are well needed and have my respect for sure.

Well hope that helps you. I used to use my friennds backyard for a few years until I found an Iado teacher.

Definately practice with two differant practice swords. One is the wooden bokken, the other is called a Shinai and it is made of bamboo and is used often in the kendo classes and you see them alot in WWE wrestling. They do not hurt only sting when you are struck, they are also great for practise against a live opponent because without all the kendo gear to protect you a bokken will feel like getting hit by a baseball bat.

Of course you do not want to use a live blade on another in practise with out gear either so Iado is great for practice with a live blade and kendo is great for live one on one training with a bokken or Shinai, and then Kenjitsu if you want to slice and cut things with a live blade that are not living.

Good luck!!

Is it unlawful for businesses to tear down their competitions flyers in a public place such as a community col

such as a community college.

I am asking because my flyers keep getting torn down and now it’s gotten to the point were they tear them down everyday and it is beginning to hurt us of potential new customers/cliental. My teacher said it is destruction of public property, theft, and bad business ethics (and she said bad ethics can be a big legal thing, even if it’s just a flyer). She said taking them to small claims court is a lucky break for them b/c it could be tooken to a hirer court. Yes it is my competition and I can prove it with a photograph of them doing it. My biz is http://www.duelwave.com

I thought the point of capitalism was to compete and embrace competition, but this just further proves my disposition of what I actually think: the majority of people who whole heartedly believe in the capital system by its self alone as a system (free market) are usually shasty dishonest greedy people who will stop at nothing to get a profit/extra buck.

What types of people choose to live in Palo Alto over San Francisco?

As a long time Palo Alto resident who has worked in S.F., I thought I'd give you some of my impressions: You don't come to Palo Alto for the bars - Palo Alto is almost a dry town. With the exception of Reposada, a bar that will lay you out flat with their margaritas, it's actually hard to find a place that will serve you a stiff drink...  And if you are not a sporty, Stanford-y looking type you can forget about even getting in. (OK, that last comment is not completely fair, anyone can physically walk into the bars down here, but you will just get a weird vibe from all the sporty, Stanford-y looking patrons if you have so much as a nose ring) You don't come to Palo Alto for the theater - Unless you happen to think that Dr. Seuss is an avant garde playwright you are not going to be happy with the string of children's theaters that adorn Palo Alto. I look lovingly back on the year I managed to make all the opening nights at the S.F. Opera.  But now that I have kids the highlight of my year was seeing the Princess and the Frog production that swept through Palo Alto recently. You come here for the schools, which are actually a let down - You justify the $1,000 per square foot housing to yourself with the notion that the public school system somehow makes up for it. But after 7 years in the Palo Alto school district I am still waiting for the wow. My kid still gets beat up at recess and the teachers say "Oh, I don't know what happened."  He actually came home missing a tooth one day and nobody had any idea how that came to pass. The class ratio is still "a whole lot of students to one teacher", so your child is not getting a lot of individual attention. You come here to mingle with the social climbers - This is the only logical conclusion I've found after my 7 years in Palo Alto. I have never seen so much social climbing in one place in my life. When the first question a new acquaintance asks is "What part of town do you live in" you know there is some kind of social ladder in place (and you are most likely on the bottom rung of it). You do get a yard - As much as I complain about Palo Alto, I love my enormous, grass filled yard.  I wish I could explain the joys of building a tree fort, throwing a ball with your kids and hanging out on the patio.  Once your life gets redirected toward your kids you really need to get one of these.

Is it safe to go to amusement parks in bad weather?

Well, Minnesota is on the edge of Tornado Alley... But really, it should be fine. If the weather turns bad the park may close down for public safety. At the best, severe weather will cause some of the rides to be closed, like the ski lift thingie or the chairs that spin... (Really technical, huh?) The worst-case scenerio is that you arrive at the park and it's closed. (But, I'm sure your teacher(s) will call the park before getting there.) Honestly, you don't need to take anything. It's highly unlikely that there'll be an F-5 tornado barreling down at you. If you're really worried, take a small portable radio to listen to the weather. Have fun, my class trips were to the local zoo.

Could I live in Hawaii on a teacher's salary?

I'm in college now studying Elementary Education, and it is my dream to move to Hawaii. I've done some research, and teachers in Hawaii make around $42,000-$49,000 per year.

I know how to be very frugal, and I KNOW I won't be buying anything extra, just basic food, clothes, rent, and possibly gas money but I'm going to see if I can make it with just a bike.
