I Just Got My Braces Off Two Days Ago My Teeth Are Perfectly Straight But My Mid Line Is Not

Orthos, can midline be corrected with braces?

In the beginning I took out two teeth on the top. They were not symmetrical to each other. One was a k9 teeth and the other I don't know what it is called.

I had a slight midline problem and my ortho assured me that by removing these two teeth, unsymmetical to each other, it will move it more toward the left. hence, perfect midline.

I was assigned to wear rubber bands across my mouth for about 4 months. I did not wear them consistently at first, but when I did, I saw the midline moving. The last month (4th month), I wore them very consistently because I knew I had to. My midline was a lot closer to straight but my bite was getting strange. When I bit down, my bottom and top teeth alligned perfectly.

He asked me to stop wearing rubber bands. My bite has gone back and I feel that if i had the chance to wear the rubber bands longer, it would have stabilized and my midline would be good.

Now, I am a few months ready to take off my brace. My midline is horrendous, and my bite is very strange. When I bite down, none of my teeth touch. In addition, one side is extremely close to an underbite. (like i have a cross bite)

I am very dissatisfied with my results. I do not want to take them off. What should I do?

He says my midline is a skeletal problem, but with the information I provided, do you feel that it if fixable?

It's a big problem for me and I do not feel confident smiling or showing anyone my "almost finished" results.

Thank you in advance for your time and answers. I appreciate it greatly. Have a nice day

Getting my braces off soon... feel like my teeth arent straight enough?

Im getting my braces off in about a week, and I really want my teeth to be perfect. I have only had them on for about 11 months, and I really dont mind waiting a little bit extra in order for my front teeth to move back a mm. They look great from far away, but i feel like if you look closely, the top front teeth are a bit too far out in comparison to the other teeth. I have been asking people if they thought my teeth were straight, including the orthodontist, and everyone is saying yes. I dont know if im just crazy or super picky, but I am not happy with that. Please tell me your opinion.

Teeth don't line up after getting braces off?

Hey I just got my braces off after 25 months, and I had been very happy with how my teeth are turning out. I just got my braces off yesterday morning and got my retainer several hours after getting them off, later that afternoon. While I had my braces on, my teeth would line up perfectly when I would bite down. All of my teeth from the top and bottom would line up and kind of lock in correctly. Now that I have my braces off however, my teeth are very straight and look great, but don't quite line up very well like they did with braces. I have experienced this before. This would happen sometimes after an adjustment to my braces, and my teeth wouldn't quite line up for a day. But after a day, my teeth would have moved and my bite would be better again. So I'm wondering if my orthodontist messed up? or if my teeth will end up coming together nicely (it's been almost two days since getting my braces off, and about 1 day since getting my retainer. Will the retainer help? Please help me, this is quite frustrating

My teeth are almost straight?

It's because you gums needs to maintain that position. When your teeth are moving and it has set in place yet, the chances of it going back to it's old place is high. Even after you get your braces off, you still need to wear you retainer to keep them straight.

I had braces, wore them for like 2 years.... after I took it off, I thought it was okay so I rarely wore my retainer and my teeth started moving back to it's old positions. Don't make the same mistake as I did.

Braces are expensive, let it do it's job instead of rushing it.

Orthodontic nightmare... Teeth 80% worse than before braces... ?

I got braces to push a bicuspid in that was pushed far out of the row. Also, my 2 front teeth were slightly out of alignment but no one could tell except me... This man pulled out the bicuspid molar instead of trying to push it in. I only needed to mm of space. It threw everything off and everything is all messed up now! Boy do I regret braces. I am so ugly now....... I feel like crap everyday of my life ever since this happened to me and I cover my face with my hair every single day because I dont want people to notice I have a sunken cheek. My face looks really skinny and gross and my mouth has been pushed farther in due to the extraction and shaving. But this guy denies everything..... Well, he denied it, then admitted it and is denying it again. He is afraid of getting sued is what I think. !!

What do braces on your teeth feel like?

Braces are such lovely things…First, the color selection…OH MY:Then you get to have an EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE mouth prop inserted into your mouth:Don’t forget your monthly appointments. Usually you get wire changes at every appointment. The brackets and pointy wires brush up against your mouth causing lovely canker sores. Which is where the wax comes into place:The wax sticks PERFECTLY everytime!Once your teeth start getting straighter and it’s almost time for you to get your braces off, there’s only 2 weeks left of torture:I had to wear six rubber bands. Rubber bands are especially fun when they start to break in your mouth. I can faintly still hear the popping sound…You’re almost finished…wait…maybe. Time for my favorite! Teeth impressions:You better hope they don’t mess up, or else you get to gag to death for the third time. The pink stuff has a rubbery texture that gets stuck all in your mouth. Mmmmm…yummm!Next are retainers! I got clear ones:But some get ones like these:Whatever ones that you get, be prepared to wear them every night for the rest of your life or you can just start the whole process all over again! Yay!!Lol…but for real though. Braces have pros and cons just like everything else. At first it’s hard to eat anything due to the pain and feeling like you have an extra set of teeth! But after a while you get really used to them. Sometimes I’d almost forget they were there! I’m actually really blessed to have my teeth nice and straight now!Tips: Use wax it defintely helps! Take pain medicine if needed, brush your teeth extra good(Watch Youtube videos on the proper way to brush your teeth with braces.), dental floss, don’t eat super hard food without cutting it up first, and try to make it to all your appointments! If you do this you are sure to get your braces off before you know it!

My partner's permanent retainer has been slightly broken for a few months and a gap has begun forming between her teeth. Is this damage permanent? How long does it take for teeth to relapse after a broken retainer?

Teeth shift every day especially if a patient finished orthodontic treatment recently because teeth are very mobile at that time so they will relapse very fast.  If the teeth are shifted already you can go to the local general dentist that has expertise in Invisalign, he can remove the broken retainer and fabricate the aligner to move the teeth into proper position and then keep them in proper position with a new bonded retainer. At our practice we do a lot of orthodontic treatment we offer our patients different choices based on their condition and their wishes for the final outcome. Regardless of which treatment they choose they all are setup with some kind of permanent retention for the rest of their lives if they want the results to last a long time. One of the most popular option is Six Months Smiles which are braces that utilize clear brackets and white wires so the braces seem invisible in the mouth. I did not wear my retainers enough and now I need braces. But if I still wear my retainers will it still work?

If your retainer still fits, you might be able to keep wearing it. If not, there are other options available.First, try your retainer on. If it still snaps properly onto your teeth without causing too much pain or an uncomfoirtable bite, you can try wearing it for a few months to see if it will shift the teeth to the position they aligned after wearing braces. If it does not fit, and there's only minor shifting, then your teeth could potentially be adjusted by a treatment such as Invisialign, which are clear, custom-molder aligners, and can provide results in about a year, with minimal impact to your appearance.I recommend wearing your retainer all the time for couple months after braces are removed. After that,  switch to wearing it at night, every night if you want to keep your teeth straight for the rest of your life Immediately and several months after orthodontic treatment, the bone around the shifted teeth will still be soft, so you absolutely must wear your retainers at all times to ensure the teeth do not shift into the softer bone mass. After  the bone hardens around the teeth, you might not need to wear your  retainers at all times, because the risk for shifting is minimized.  However, as we get older our teeth tend to naturally shift anyway. You want to make sure you protect your teeth from shifting to retain the smile you worked hard to get with orthodontic treatment. The other option you have after the initial few months after treatment have passed is to get a bonded  retainer. This type of retainer is one that is glued to the back of the teeth to retain their position. In our Practice we recommend these great alternatives to braces such as Invisialign or our quick and easy Six Months Smiles. system which works faster and  allows the doctor  more control over the movement of the teeth  and  there's also less worry that the patient will skip wearing the  aligners  long enough to see results such as the one below.  Our trained specialists can always be of assistance, you can learn more about the practice at New York Cosmetic DentistsYou can view all our Showcase Cases which include teeth straightening patients on our Facebook Page - Case Of The Month.

I haven't worn my retainer in 6 months and just started wearing it again 2 weeks ago. It fits, but the retainer wire is low on the front teeth and the bottom retainer is slightly crooked. It still fits, but is it bad to wear? Or will it still help?

Your teeth have started shifting back to their original position before your braces. As long as your retainers will still fit in, they will cause you discomfort, however, they will move your teeth back to your post braces position. You need to wear them every night for at least a year and it doesn't hurt you to keep wearing them 2 or 3 nights a week even after that. Our teeth naturally shift to the midline or to the middle o our faces, so continuing to wear your retainer will keep your teeth where they were post braces. You can take ibuprofen or Motrin, which is best for discomfort
