Orthodontist says parents can t go to appointment with underage son. Legal?
I showed up at my son s (9) orthodontist appointment today to see the med assistant telling parents they can no longer go in appointments with their kids due to HIPPA. The appointments are in a communal area, but this is a new policy and my son is mid "Phase 1" (braces) treatment. I m also his legal guardian (as are all the other parents sitting in the waiting room with me. No one was able to answer questions either. Everyone seemed on edge. This can t be right. Is it legal to tell parents they can t go to appointments with their kids?
Dental Appointment in 2 Days...I'm Freaking Out?
So I'm 32 years old and haven't seen a dentist since i was a child. I without a doubt am very self conscious about my teeth. I google a lot and its starting to scare me. I don't feel as if I have painful or swollen gums but my gums are not as pink as others. I also dont bleed when brushing or flossing. I brush 2x a day, use mouthwash 2x a day, floss 1x a day and then top it with a periogen mixture 2x a day. I was also told to rinse my mouth with warm salt water 2x a day. I do have some tartar build up so that's my biggest concern. Im not sure what they will uncover when that is gone. I really dont want to be told that I have gum disease. That will be devastating for me. Could anybody give me some advice or input on how to deal with expecting to hear the worst?

Did God have a surprise for you when you least expected it today which was something especially aimed at you?This didn’t happen today, but several years ago; nevertheless it was an unexpected surprise.I had long wanted to visit a very godly woman in Creston, BC. My older son’s wedding was to take place in the state of Washington, so I thought while I was on that side of the continent, I might be able to visit this friend in Creston.However, I knew that my husband would not want to make the detour to Creston, so I thought I would still be unable to go. I had never told anyone, not even my husband, about my desire to visit this woman.My husband is utterly miserable when traveling, so he rarely leaves town. As the day of the wedding approached, he was increasingly nervous about the travel arrangements. Finally, one day he announced that he wasn’t going to go to the wedding. He wished the couple well, but he wanted to be left out of the ceremony. The same thing happened when our younger son got married years later.As a result of my husband’s decision, suddenly the way was opened up for me to visit my friend after the wedding. It was only then that I asked my husband if he would mind if I traveled to Creston on my way home from the wedding, and he said no.God sovereignly opened up a way for me to do something that had been on my heart for a long time, about which I had spoken to no one. This just shows His great love and care for us. This was something He did especially for me.I visited with this friend and her husband for three days. They also had a lovely lady from Scotland staying with them just to help my elderly friend. We had a wonderful time talking about the Lord.The lady from Scotland had to return home a few weeks later as her visitor visa had finally expired. As for my friend, only a couple of months after my visit, she had a stroke that scrambled the speech center of her brain. She knew what she wanted to say, but couldn’t make herself understood. She and her husband both passed away within two years from that time.I was so blessed to be able to spend time with her near the end of her life, and it was an added blessing knowing that God brought about the circumstances to make that visit possible.

But then there’s that one who is full of … surprises.Whether it’s something they said or something they did, these out-of-the-ordinary patients never cease to shock and amaze as they take outlandish to a whole new level. The upside? We’re left with some pretty unforgettable stories.THE THREE MAJOR ONES ARE-I had a patient that used to bring her pet parrot to her appointments with her, stuffed into her bra and shirt. One time she was having a filling done and midway through the bird popped its head out and tried to bite me! We were quite surprised to see that bird had no feathers from the neck down.I had a patient that came in and we went through the entire appointment like normal. Then, at the end of the appointment, he dramatically handed me a magazine that had aliens on the cover. He warned that we were going to be taken over one day and that I should prepare myself.A patient called the dental practice demanding to get in ASAP, saying she had severe pain. We managed to squeeze her in, because she said it was an emergency. When she came in, I asked her where it hurt, but she said none of her teeth were sore at all. I said, "But when you called you had pain." She looked at me strangely and said, "I did. My stomach hurt. But I've had two bowel movements since then. Can you start cleaning my teeth now?”Things sometimes get worser and worst. You can't hide your dental condition from your dentist, nor should you. You are seeking dental care because you have problems. You think your teeth are the worst the dentist has seen, but you are wrong!! No matter how bad you think your teeth are, he/she has seen worse. Most dentists don't want to lecture you or make you feel bad. They are in the profession of making people better by fixing their mouth. Tell the dentist up front that you have neglected your teeth but now you are ready to face your problems and make them better. I don't know of any dentist who would look down on you for that.
What do dentists do for a chipped tooth?
My tooth chipped as I was chewing a nail. It was one of my bottom incisors. Chipped off the back of the tooth. Not really visable--as it's on the back of the tooth. I was actually surprised as it took little force and I've always thought I have healthy teeth (24 y.o., never had a cavity, always--until recently since dental insurance dropped--go to dentists)

It’s more a few appointments linked together. I was maybe 9 or 10 (Maybe 11?) at the time. Yes, it has been a horrible day. I just cant stop crying, the words I'm typing are blury, I have lost my appetite, and I'm doing alot of thinking. I just got off the phone with my grandmother. She was at the hospital to check up on her heart conditionis she is 78 i was only on the phone with her for about 5 minutes (it would of been longer but she was at the hospital). My grandparents raised me, they got custody of me not long after I was born. They have had 8 kids by that time they were in their 60s. My birth mom is a piece of shit and I dont have a clue who my birth father is. I have always looked up to my grandfather who I called dad he is the best man in the world in my eyes. He was driving tractors when he was 3, he was a butcher all his life, and a farmer as a child. I could go on forever.. My dad was diagnosed with altimerz when I was 12 I was Indinial about it. At that time in my life I lived in Marion IL and I started hanging out with 15–20 year olds we even had a name and a symbol for our “gang” all we did was run the streets, I was bad I've been arrested to many times to count. My grandparents just couldn't deal with me so they let me do whatever I wanted because if I did not get my way I would curse and say awful things I truly regret now.
