I Just Pierced My Own Ear And Im Scared It Will Get Infected Help

About to pierce my own ears...help?

People pierce their own ears all the time. I've done my second and third hole myself.
Use a proper needle. Not a sewing needle, not a safety pin. If anything you can use an injection needle, the ones that are for IVs. They're properly sterilized fresh out of the package. Make sure your cousin wears gloves if possible. She will need to touch your ears and even though she may have washed her hands, any dirt under hear nails, ect can get on your skin while piercing. After she is sterilized and the needle is sterilized, she needs to sterilize your ear. If you're afraid let her rub some ice on your ear to numb the pain. Then she can start to pierce. Tell her if you need more ice, but DON'T ask her to rush. Piercing free hand takes a steady hand. Especially if you don't have any clamps. She also should have something to catch the needle once it's through like cork (an apple piece or orange works). After she's done let her clean the blood, she'll wiggle the needle and put the earring though. Then rub your ear with alcohol again and tada! Newly pierced ears. (of course seeing as how she's done this three times I'm sure she knows how to do it already :D)

They shouldn't get infected as long as you take proper care of your ears. Turn them three times a day and get some ear car solution (don't put peroxide or alcohol on it every day, it'll dry it out)

I just pierced my own ear and im scared it will get infected help?

Ive pierced my own ear before and well it did get infected and thats because i went swimming with it and it got caught in my girlfriends hair. It not that stupid tho so dont worry, i dont regret it, even tho i took it out. But u will KNOW if its infected and all u have to do is take it out. If u just did it, it will sting for a while, and thats because u just shoved a needle through ur ear haha! But i would just leave it, and clean it with water and soap 3 times a day. Dont use rubbing alcohol, it slows the healing down a lot! But ur probably fine! Mine only left a tiny scar! Its really not a big deal if it gets infected, just annoying! Dont worry about it. Just see what happens and relax :)

How can i prevent infection when i pierce my own ears?

dont bother commenting if your going to tell me not to do it. The thing is, i dont want it done proffesionally i want to do it myself buh i dont get why, it just wouldnt be the same if someone else did it for me? aaand how do you sanitize a needle? cause tbh ive no idea what it means by alcahol and i dont know where i would find a lighter :L anybody got any advice? yeeaah well thanks (: and does the needle that i put in after piercing have to be real silver? and im not too sure about doing it cause incase it was to get infected and im scared about how my mum would react also i pass out at the sight of blood :L i guess thats partly a reason i want to do it myself, like overcoming a fear? If you think im being stupid theen please say so -_- but dont comment if all your going to say is dont do it. THANKYOOOU (: x (im 13 btw if this matters?)

I pierced my own ear with a sewing needle help?

SMH....very stupid, and the stupidest part was you actually put mouthwash to a ear piercing, wow. Not to mention alcohol doesn't sterilize so your chances of infection are extremely high. The only thing that sterilizes is an autoclave.

Signs of infection are excessively red and swollen, very painful, green/yellow pus or discharge with a nasty odor and hot to touch. However a fresh piercing can be swollen, tender, red and painful for a few weeks afterwards.

To prevent infection, (or heal infection if you get one) clean 2 times a day by doing sea salt soaks. Mix 1/4tsp of non iodized sea salt to 8oz hot water, submerge your ear for 5-10 minutes each soak, afterwards rinse with regular water to remove excess salt and gently pat dry with a clean paper towel.

If it gets infected, do not remove the jewelery. Removing the jewelery closes up the hole and traps the infection inside, leading to an abscess and other problems. If you wish to take it out clear the infection first.

Until it has fully healed do not twist touch or fiddle with the jewelery. Good luck to you and next time let the professionals pierce you.

Can I take my earrings out when I sleep? I just got my ears pierced today and wanted to know if its safe to take them out when I go to sleep.

No. Your lobes take 6–8 weeks to heal, your cartilage takes 12 weeks, and the earrings should not be removed until your holes are healed.Your holes can heal partiially or fully overnight. Even if your piercings stay open, you should not be taking out the earrings and replacing them; it introduces bacteria into the piercings. You should be washing your piercings with unscented soap (I like Ivory) and water, or the wash they gave you. Apply triple antibiotic ointment with a Q-Tip the first three days, then Vaseline. Your hands need to be clean before you treat your piercings.Unfortunately, piercings can be uncomfortable to sleep on. I get it; I sleep with 18 earrings and three other piercings. You can try putting bandaids or soft medical/bandadge tape over the piercing, so you're not poked by the earrings' stems. If you were pierced with the gun, you have extra-long stems, which is one of many reasons not to get pierced by the gun.. If it's the soreness from the act of piercing, there's not much you can do, but it passes. Try sliding down your pillow, so your ears are hanging off your pillow. I've done that. Sometimes after your head has been on the pillow for a few minutes, the pain chills. You can also try sleeping with no pillow, or a flat one, which helps keep a different part of your head resting on the bed. You can take Tylenol, ibuprofen, or other OTC pain meds to help manage the pain as well.Your piercings will heal. It's going to take some time, and there will be pain, but it passes. Good luck!

Is piercing own cartilage safe??

When piercing any part of your body, be it the leg, chest, or face, there is always a possibility that the pierce you are trying to do comes out wrong, and worse, it can cause injuries and skin disorder, like swelling and bumps.

Professional body piercers use special tools to finish their work, and it takes them a lifetime of experience to get it done. One mistake can cause an injury or a dis formation, that's why professionals keep it safe. Some can't even fully guarantee the outcome of the pierce, so be careful.

Often mistakes in piercing yourself, especially in areas like the face, leg and body can result to uncontrollable bleeding as well as tetanus and bumps in your skin. It can also target critical areas as well as organs in the body that support life. Wounding these areas may be your last. Long term effects are also bad effects in body piercing like skin abnormalities. Internal bleeding can also happen and can even cause your death. Also, you cant have a body pierce if you have a low health status or tolerance level, and if you don't have enough vitamin K to support clotting. Some sicknesses are associated with body piercing

Remember, leave it to the experts what you want to do. And also, listen to your parents advice, for being a hardhead may cause you more damage. Always consult your doctor if it's ok, for some injuries and sicknesses are caused by piercing .And also, whatever crazy schemes your friends do, don't do it too, because likely you might get hurt, or grow up looking like an abnormal wishing you could have just listened to your parents advice.

Should i be afraid to pierce my own ears? will it hurnt ?

Yes, you should be afraid. There is NO sterile way to pierce yourself and you're putting yourself at risk for life threatening infections like MRSA. Don't be stupid, go to a professional piercer.

IM SCARED TO GET A CARTILAGE PIERCING!?

Get it done WITH A NEEDLE and NOT a gun. There is NO way a needle can shatter your cartilage. Think about it. No impact. If you use a needle, there is no way your ear can get deformed.
Yeah it hurts. But your body resists the pain after like 5 seconds. So no stress :)

Once you get it: Don't change it for a couple of months. Put salt water on it like 3 times a day. About 2 teaspoons of salt in a small glass of water. I put it in a bottle and applied it to my piercing using cotton balls. With clean hands, rotate it twice a day, very gently. It should heal in like 3 months. Put antiseptic cream on it once every couple of days, but not too much.

That's it :) I pierced my own cartilage 2 years ago :) Now, I can take the earring out for days at a time and it never closes. It's just like a lobe piercing :D

Good luck :D

I got my ears pierced at Claire's and now I'm afraid I'll get an infection. What should I do?

My daughter's ears were pierced at Walmart.  It's essentially the same thing. You bought a piercing kit with sterile piercing earrings and the clerk disinfected your ears and popped the earrings in with a gun.Now you need to clean each ear at least twice a day with disinfectant on a clean cotton ball. That means a new cotton ball for each ear every time you clean them.Your kit should have come with a bottle of disinfectant.  If it didn't,  you can get a bottle for a couple of dollars at the drug store or a discount store.Your ears will probably get a little red and sore, but don't worry about that.  They have to form thick, tubular scars around the earrings.  Your immune system treats the earrings like an infection that needs to be removed,  so you get the same kind of response as if the ear lobe was infected. After a while, the immune system gives up on fighting and walls off the  intrusion. The result is a tidy little hole in the earlobe where you can hang jewelry.
