Background Check after 2nd Interview, Good sign?

So, on monday I had my second interview. I spoke to the manager and we discussed why she should hire me. She nodded her head a lot and smiled and we exchanged jokes. It was going pretty good in my opinion. We discussed uniform, compensation, what job I would start out with. Then she asked me if I was 18 and I told her yes, that I just turned 18 and she told me that they would have to do a background check on me. So I filled out the background check and signed the consent papers. She told me that this would be about three days for the background check to complete. But maybe a bit longer because I just turned 18 and my record is completely clean. She smiled and we shook hands and that was that.

It hasn't been three days yet, I know. And I'm not impatient. But I'm just wondering if getting a background check is a good sign? They spend their money on background checks and I doubt they'd do that with just everyone. My mom and friends and family all say that it's a really good sign because it means they're interested and I'm in. But I'm not sure. Should I be worried that I won't get hired or not? I surely do hope so. It's a dream job.

Do temporary restraining orders appear on employment background checks?

It depends upon what the employer uses to get that background information. For less than $30. I can know more about you than you know about yourself. Most employer are too cheap to order that level of background search but the nature of things means that many employers do no searches at all. Here is why you think some information is shielded that is actually quite available. Consider a young woman who has an arrest for prostitution and later goes back and has the court record expunged. She thinks her life is now free of that taint. However when she was seeking a lawyer she reached to a girlfriend and emailed her questions about what to do about the prostitution arrest. Bingo ! Now that information is in the wild and any researcher can grab it and spread it all about. We are now in an era in which people must live with their past mistakes or conditions. When companies promise secrecy they still tend to sell your information. Ask anyone who takes a medication long term how much they are bombarded with companies seeking to supply that prescription for less than you might be paying. Even the big chain pharmacies spread your information about and they deny it. But if you take a script for insulin to your local drug store you will soon see if you don’t start getting a lot of phone calls from companies selling diabetic supplies.

How do you get a good job with a bad criminal record?

There is one clear path to success! You are correct that with your record you would be very lucky to get a good job with a decent company so what you do is become self employed. Here is how: you take any job you can get until you have saved a thousand dollars. You take your thousand and you look and look until you find a car that is worth more than you have to pay for it. Best way of doing this is look in small towns and from older people that just want to get rid of them. Once you find this vehicle you set it somewhere with better EXPOSURE than where it was and sell it but still price it less than it is valued. keep investing your profits until your buying cars at around 4 grand and selling at around 6. At the same time your doing this get vocational training in an area you like such as carpentry or plumbing or automotive repair. As soon as your schooling is done get your tools to practice your trade and with hard work you can be well off in two yrs. I have done this myself for a different reason and if you stay focused it will work. good luck

How many years back does the US postal service go on background checks?

Will they regard any records that are 16 years old? I was playing with matches when I was a teenager, and I was charged with arson because the school THOUGHT I had intent to burn the school down, but I did not intend to, it was all a big misunderstanding.

I was a able to get a job with UPS (United Parcel Service) and pass their background and I worked for them for 4 years, so why not the Postal service?

How far back do employers do background checks?

As a background screening professional, I would say that the conviction will be found for teaching positions. They generally conduct a fingerprint search that will go as far back as 30 years. That being said, I do not believe that a DUI disqualifies a person from teaching. If you were going to apply with a private company, they would probably only go back 7 years. There is not a law that convictions only stay on for 7 years, in fact they are accessible for as long as they exist. There is an employment screening law called the Fair Credit Reporting Act that governs background checks, but it generally does not apply for teaching. I would not feel ashamed, as we process thousands of background checks per year and our DUI hit ratio is very high. Good luck!
