I Just Wanted To Know How Much Claire

Why do Frank and Claire Underwood want power so much?

A2A Thank youThey want power because they're sociopaths, and power to people like that is what they live for. Power convinces the part of them that feels "less than" that they are somehow worthy. People with personality disorders that include narcissistic behaviors alternate between an inflated sense of self worth and no sense of self worth at all. With Frank, I think he's always overcoming his poor childhood, and with Claire, it's more malevolent narcissism. In spite of her rich upbringing, Claire has an "Oh, poor me" attitude and genuinely thinks she was somehow wronged back in her childhood. It seems like she's had an axe to grind since her teen years. Then she was a victim of date rape that probably only reinforced all her psychological problems. After a while, sociopaths who climb over other people to get what they want start to become addicted to the power. It lights up reward centers in the brain, just like eating ice cream or shopping for other people. Now, it's like a habit for the Underwoods, and they have to keep upping the ante to get the same kick.

Was Claire Holt On Victorious?

I don't think it was her. It might have been this actress called Rebecca Hirsch because she kind of looks like Claire Holt and was in that episode of Victorious.

How old do you have to be to work at an Icing (by Claire's) store?

Hey, so I've worked at Claire's for two years. I was hired when I was sixteen. The biggest difference is that Icing by Claire's (or IBC as we call it) is targeted at older girls (17-27 approximately). So, my advice is that if you get an interview, dress maturely. I don't mean wear a women's suit and "sensible shoes." I just mean don't wear anything too pink or frilly or fluffy. Dress as if Claire was your younger sister. The company's philosophy is that Claire's Club (a store concept for our youngest customers) is for the little girls, Claire's is for younger girls to teens, and Icing is for older girls.

Also- Don't feel bad if you don't get called back or don't get hired. Icing is struggling right now as all retailers are with the economy. Claire's is doing much better, so if you don't get hired at Icing I would try Claire's.

Good luck! I'd love to see you with the company :)

Why did Claire change her mind about trying to have a kid in S02E01 of House of Cards?

My impression is that after dealing with Gillian, Claire realize what kind of woman she really is deep down. She lost faith in herself to be a good mother, so she decide not to have a child. I think in season one, Claire, facing her own aging and mortality, started to think about what legacy she might have left behind. What she could create out of her own, something nice and pure. That's all the weird metaphor is for. Remember her strange encounter in the graveyard, her discussion about menopause with her friend, her obsession with making origami... I think she realize what dirty world she lived in, Frank's world of politics and power struggle, the unforgiving world of hunt or be hunted. I think deep down she got tired of all these and want to create something not in Frank and her world, something of her own, something pure. Combine all that and seeing Gillian with her child, she decided she want to have a child when she still can. But things changed for her in season 2, Frank was made vice president, political struggle and back stabbing were at its worst. Frank and Claire had faced some of the most difficult challenges in their entire career lives. And out of all these, Claire realize what kind of person she really is. She's a selfish, power hungry, scheming, coldblooded political animal, just like her husband. She doesn't have any scruple or conscience. She can't afford to, remember, it's hunt or be hunted. Claire always knew that, but it is her dealing with Gillian make her face it head on. She said: I'm willing to let her child wither and die inside you if that's required. I think that scared her somehow, and give her more resolve at the same time. She realized that she just can't be a mother. She doesn't have anything that's motherly in her. So she decided not to pursue having children. Personally I found Claire's choices very relatable to me. I know that feeling that suddenly realize I just don't have it in me. It's not about age or financial stability or maturity. Women such as myself just don't meant to be mothers. I don't find her words cruel or inhumane. Instead, I admire her resolution and determination. Overall, Claire's character is much better written in season 2 than in season 1.

House of Cards Season 1: I didn't understand Claire's 2nd visit to Steve's deathbed. Could some one explain that?

SPOILER ALERT!:She was asked to come there by Steve, because he wanted to tell her how much he hated her husband (Frank). How cynical and awful person he is. How little he care about Claire. He (Steve) also tells Claire that he loves her. What Claire do next is to tell Steve why and how Frank and Calire married. Then she feels Steve up, and says "Now you know my secret," meaning that Claire isn't really a much better person her husband (or that she at least is very much like Frank.)I don't think it is a revenge, but an act to reveal who Claire really is (she is indeed having a relationship with Adam).

Are Claire's starter earrings impossible to get out?

I had the same problem, mostly because the backs of the startedr earrings are really sharp!!(idk if urs are) What i did was took an old t-shirt and pressed it on the poiny end of the acual earring (the point in the back thatb sticks out from behind the back) Then dug my nails under the back that keeps the earring on. and pulled as hard as i could trying to loosen it, while pressing(not that hard)( on the point and holding the earring in the front becaise that helps. Then i twwisted and pulled and eventually i got the bacl off and the earring came right off!

Why does Claire Underwood not pardon Frank Underwood in Season 5?

Oh, there are just too many possibilities.I am a huge fan of the show, you see.One is that she needs him, but not in the way of “Let’s do this together, as partners” but rather “Do as I say or go to jail” type of help.Frank’s plan was for him to be the mastermind - reference to the conversation they had shorlty before he left the White House at the end of season 5 - and project power from “behind the scenes” which will make Claire effectively a marionette, a puppet. While she has other plans for it.Another one is that she will not be seen as “one of the politicians” who trade favors and pardon each other when times get tough.Frank sacrificed his political career, so to speak, and she just let him be there - on his own - so not touching that part of the failed legacy will separate her presidency from his.One more is just sheer touch of genius - he was warned, on several occasions, that he will be pardoned at the most strategic time, and while his plans were set based on the pardon being a sure deal, this sure deal falling through made him isolated from the world. When you think about his last name - Underwood - he came from very humble beginnings, he has made a career, he has made enemies, and now the only person he was disregarding as “sure thing” had left him on his own. And he is utterly on his own with no one to turn to, and with more political/legal troubles coming his way. So he came from humble beginnings and he was sent to the exact same humble ending, all the while his plan was to basically rule the world - with him and his wife taking turns to be president (and her being eligible for re-election for another 2 terms). One thing I do not recall is whether this is the end of their 7-year contract (she mentioned it in previous season) and whether she will want to keep him or not. With the real world troubles of the show, I don’t know whether they will resolve it soon or if we’re going to lose the series entirely (Turns Out Robin Wright Didn’t Get That House of Cards Raise She Demanded)
